Patti's amazing chest voice alone kills Whitney's entire voice. Patti can go into the 6th octave in chest voice!!!!! And im talking about Whitney in her prime in the 80s and 90s. Whitney's current voice is shot! She used to be one of the absolute greatest, but now her voice is average at best. Patti has taken superb care of her voice and she can still sing. And she is 67!!

Whitney is better, her voice is lighter and more flexible yet powerfull. No one has a better stage presence than Whit, and personally I don´t think no one but old Whit could sing her songs as she did. Oh Patti easily is a better singer than Whitney. Patti is better than Whitney, live or recording. But everybody's voice isn't suited for every song. I don't think Patti's voice was suited for this song. So yes, Whitney's version is better. But who has the overall better voice, power, and emotion? Patti Labelle............Plus out of all the greats in the business like Patti,Aretha,Whitney, Mariah, ect., Patti's voice has by far deteriorated the least of the years.

Whitney is better, her voice is lighter and more flexible yet powerfull. No one has a better stage presence than Whit, and personally I don´t think no one but old Whit could sing her songs as she did. Secondly, "I Have Nothing" was written by songwrtiter/producer David Foster, who has written and produced some of Whitney's biggest hits. It was a song written for WHITNEY HOUSTOn for The Bodyguard soundtrack.

And it throws the song off key sometimes. I wish she would just sing the melody the way it's suppose to be sung and not play with the words to much.
