I was selling a laptop on ebay and one of these Nigerian fuckers tried to scam me. He sent me fake paypal and account messages saying that he paid me 500.00 when the item was 300.00 and i never got the payment plus his location was in texas mean while he wanted it sent to this bullshit address in nigeria for his daughter in law.And like a dumbass i thought nothing to it because it was my first sale and i sent it but lucky me i got it back safe and sound before it left the post office.

Don't accept payment or shipping to any location that you do not trust. If you want to keep it -really- simple choose not to purchase or sell anything outside of your country. If someone comes at you with the "But its for my schmooki in Durkadurkastan, can you ship it directly to him?" you say "Sorry lady, no dice, I only accept payment from X and shipment to Y, you want it to get to Durkadurkastan, ship it there yourself.

This scam was attempted on me but I never fell for it.
It's simple, always check your paypal account before you post anything, if no money has gone in don't send. Even if the payment is pending, it will show this on your account.
When the scam was attempted on me it was more annoying than anything else but I think some people must fall for it, it wasn't as sloppy as your average Nigerian scam.

i got paid for my sales because i demanded instant payment. but i have bought items and received counterfeit replicas. at first ebay told me to send the items back to the owner as requested but i told them i am not going to send counterfeit items back to the person that tricked me into buying them. i managed to keep the items and the money.
you can also contact the efcc in nigera there the only honest police in nigera there they are the ones that bust the scammers i think half of that country is scammers
Lol I was recently sent an email that seemed to be a legit paypal email, although it said that the money had been deducted from the buyers account and was being held for me.
It claimed that I would receive the money once I had sent them the tracking ID. I told that asshole that he was to use the ebay checkout service quickly before I sold it to another person. He complained and I immediately sold it to someone else. Fucking bastard

The e-mail then from Paypal then said that the transaction of 645 dollars (the buyer gave an extr received a amount for postage etc) would be debited into my bank account in 2-4 business days. It has been about a week and now I have an e-mail stating that an extra 300 dollars has accidently been funded from the buyer and wants me to refund them. I have not even got the 645 dollars yet.
These are the tail tail signs, e-mails are usually poor english grammar and always have ebay/paypal logos.

i wanted 25 pounds for a phone and was offered 2000. The suspicious emails you'll recieve must not be responded to just forwarded to ebay. don't do anything outside of ebay.

another scam is they win your item for an obscene amount (say £500 for a psp) then they contact you and ask if they can pay by western union or moneygram, they initially pay for the item then email you to say they have paid, you check online and see payment is pending, and depending how daft you are you send the item.
the fraudsters then reverse payment and voila.....no goods and no money.
beware WESTERN UNION and MONEYGRAM and beware the words PAYMENT PENDING........

I'm an ebay powerseller.. the biggest scam that I've seen is when you try to BID on something and get out bid.. then the person posing as the seller (or.. even the seller if it's a hacked account) will then try to get you to buy it by saying that the high bidder backed out..
I have NEVER had any problems buying on eBay. I follow these COMON SENCE rules. Never arrange payment outside of eBay! ALWAYS use paypal. CHECK FEEDBACK SCORES AND COMMENTS. Use good judgement. If it sounds too good, it likely is. I have bought and sold things on eBay, and I have never had a problem. I have gotten SOME great deals, and some average deals. Ebay has SO much better selection than the stores or the mall. Plus - no traffic, no snotty teenager working in a little mall booth.

the same thing is happening to me with my Dell Studio 1737 laptop.......I sold mines for $750..........a nigerian man from the UK won the bid......................he sent me the payment and it said "completed"........Im a very smart person, so I emailed him and told him that since its an international transaction, he will have to wait 7-10 business days before the payment is cleared before I ship out the computer.....I still didnt hear from him but im transfering the money into my bank account
and changing my bank account so that in case the money bounce from paypal.....I will not get charged for it......and when the money is cleared in my account....then i will send the computer to him.....sometimes, you got to be your own police
rangeblood89.just do all your business through ebay on the ebay site and not outside it with your own personal email and you should be o.k. stick with paypal as a means of payment and make sure if someones bought an item from you the money is in your account before despatching.
And to make matters worse ... I reported to EBay that the person was using a stolen card to pay. They took no action for almost 48 hours EVEN THOUGH THEY FROZE MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT less than 24 hours after the auction because the credit card company charged back the amount! In the 48 hours it took EBay to stop the buyer, he had bought almost $1,000 worth of gift cards from other sellers and paid with stolen cards. EBay could have stopped this but didnt care because thats $1,100 worth of fees
EBay doesnt care about its sellers getting scammed because when you do, they still get your listing fees. I recently sold some items on EBay and the buyer (from UK) paid with a stolen PAYPal account. I sent the items to the buyer (gift card codes) and a day later, PAYPal reversed the charge on the money the buyer sent me. He had redeemed the codes by this time leaving with $100 poorer. Why is it MY fault PAYPal cant protect its members?
johnnyblaze018. you think they've paid and then you have an email in your email address. in the fake email you think is from ebay, they are asking for you to forward the item to a particular address. always check for poor spelling and addresses in nigeria, germany. the emails are quite convincing so don't repond through your emails, always use ebay to send messages.
i've seen many many scams on ebay and the scammers always think of something else new and the scams get evil and more evil half of the scammers have broken english grammar is not good it's standard and you could be left without no money you're pocket will be dry and the crime on the internet has got worse alot of people have giveup ebay and other sites because of this rubbish who's trusting who these days no ONE !!!!!!!!!!

I'm an ebay powerseller.. the biggest scam that I've seen is when you try to BID on something and get out bid.. then the person posing as the seller (or.. even the seller if it's a hacked account) will then try to get you to buy it by saying that the high bidder backed out..

I have NEVER had any problems buying on eBay. I follow these COMON SENCE rules. Never arrange payment outside of eBay! ALWAYS use paypal. CHECK FEEDBACK SCORES AND COMMENTS. Use good judgement. If it sounds too good, it likely is. I have bought and sold things on eBay, and I have never had a problem. I have gotten SOME great deals, and some average deals. Ebay has SO much better selection than the stores or the mall. Plus - no traffic, no snotty teenager working in a little mall booth.

the same thing is happening to me with my Dell Studio 1737 laptop.......I sold mines for $750..........a nigerian man from the UK won the bid......................he sent me the payment and it said "completed"........Im a very smart person, so I emailed him and told him that since its an international transaction, he will have to wait 7-10 business days before the payment is cleared before I ship out the computer.....I still didnt hear from him but im transfering the money into my bank account

rangeblood89.just do all your business through ebay on the ebay site and not outside it with your own personal email and you should be o.k. stick with paypal as a means of payment and make sure if someones bought an item from you the money is in your account before despatching.

And to make matters worse ... I reported to EBay that the person was using a stolen card to pay. They took no action for almost 48 hours EVEN THOUGH THEY FROZE MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT less than 24 hours after the auction because the credit card company charged back the amount! In the 48 hours it took EBay to stop the buyer, he had bought almost $1,000 worth of gift cards from other sellers and paid with stolen cards. EBay could have stopped this but didnt care because thats $1,100 worth of fees

EBay doesnt care about its sellers getting scammed because when you do, they still get your listing fees. I recently sold some items on EBay and the buyer (from UK) paid with a stolen PAYPal account. I sent the items to the buyer (gift card codes) and a day later, PAYPal reversed the charge on the money the buyer sent me. He had redeemed the codes by this time leaving with $100 poorer. Why is it MY fault PAYPal cant protect its members?

johnnyblaze018. you think they've paid and then you have an email in your email address. in the fake email you think is from ebay, they are asking for you to forward the item to a particular address. always check for poor spelling and addresses in nigeria, germany. the emails are quite convincing so don't repond through your emails, always use ebay to send messages.

i've seen many many scams on ebay and the scammers always think of something else new and the scams get evil and more evil half of the scammers have broken english grammar is not good it's standard and you could be left without no money you're pocket will be dry and the crime on the internet has got worse alot of people have giveup ebay and other sites because of this rubbish who's trusting who these days no ONE !!!!!!!!!!
