HA HA! Ahly suck, i mean sure i'm australian, but you have to admit our league aint that good, and if ahly lose then the egypt league must be the worst! nothing against egypt, been there , great countey, great people, bad league!
The Egyptian league is far more superior than your A-league shit. Just because Al-Ahly lost doesn't mean their league sucks. It was a fucking exhibition game. You know what mate? The fucking MLS is better than your shit league. At least the Egyptian league can compete with Europes second string leagues...the A-league can probably compete with the sunday leagues. So fuck your A-league bullshit and Fuck Australia.
HEY!!! I've watched your league! And I gotta say that compared to the A-league it's not that great! Your league is SHIT!!!! Shit teams, shit players and shit support! You say fuck Australia but all that does is show the world what a racist, cunt you are! You give your country a bad name and I bet as you walk down the streets people practically BEG you to kill yourself!
Now go and fuck yourself you low life, motherfucking son of a bitch!
@oigooner did you see the goal? How can you say that the A-league is shit when an A-league team scores goals like that? And that's not a once off for Adelaide United. Look at Mathew Leckie's goal vs Gold Coast United, Alemou's goal vs Wellington Phoenix or Pantellis' goal vs Perth Glory!
Oh, and ... if the A-league is shit and an Egyptian team lost to an A-league team, what does that make the Egyptian League? Very shit? Unbelievably shit?
When i was watching the game on TV, i had 2 look twice when Cristiano scored, i thought i was dreaming it. I thought he was fukn crap, but his goal and work rate from this game has sort of changed my mind. He did miss an open goal a few minutes later though.
culminatr, i no its a great goal im just saying its a pity he doesent score those sort of goals reguarly. hes a really good player. one of his only bad moments this season was his dive against melbourne. it should be goal of the CWC
marinerstillidie, you are spot on mate! It would be better if Cristiano is more consistent. But that could be the teams fault not working it to him better. Now that we've all had a taste of how it should be done, we should see more regular performances in future!
ye, difference here is that he wasn't the lone striker in that game like he usu is. Younis was making the backline drop off to allow cristiano the space for the shot.
HaiYena, you have no quarrels with me mate! That kid, Younis, never played for the A-League main team in his life. He plays for the Junior AU team. He came on for the first time and he was awesome! Can you image him after a few games with the main AU team when he starts to build up his confidence? What makes him unique in A-League is that he is a VOLLEY Striker. None of the STOP and SHOOT crap A-League striker do! I see no other league strikers do this, so what are we doing?
It's the way we train strikers in the A-League, which is wrong. We train them like defense and mid-fielders to STOP and SHOOT. Strikers HAVE TO STRIKE on the FULL, and be accurate. The nanoseconds they wast stopping the ball first allows the WHOLE opposition to pounce on them. They lose so many opportunities. It's an A-League disease!
Its not just the strikers, applies to everyone, its how we've been bringing up our youth. We barely have the technical ability of the Japanese because of our poor youth system. Hopefully now that we seem to have a clear direction in terms of national youth development, about 10-15 yrs time we'll be up there with the best.
HaiYena, I actually like the Aussie Defense. We go for the ball hard, which scares the living daylights out of all other clubs in the world. But we are good at it. Our midfield generally is mediocre, because the guys need more ball skills, they need to be able to take on players with the ball. Our offense it crap, because we STOP and SHOOT. That is OUR BIGGEST flaw!
Plus, our strikers don't do DISTANCE shots from the 25m mark. In addition, I would have ALL PLAYERS shot for GOAL once the ball crosses into the offense box. IF YOU DON'T SHOOT, YOU DON'T SCORE! Funny that!
THE AU are AMAZING! From a small town, with a small budget ... they came to be: (1) the SECOND BEST TEAM in the Asian Region; (2) the BEST TEAM to "play" in the African Region knockouts; (3) and the 5th BEST TEAM in the WORLD! I'm literally blown away. THANK YOU ADELAIDE UNITED!
Chuqau you are so right! I don't know why I do it! I blame my parents for that. I always come across modest, when I really should be speaking the truth, regardless of the pain it inflicts on others. Here goes ... THE AU knocked out the BEST team in the AFRICAN REGION in the WORLD CUP, hence are better than all clubs in the African Region in 2008! ... much better! Thank you Chuqau my mate!
In actual fact, THE AU became the BEST Club in the Oceania Region and the African Region. 2nd Best Club in the Asian Region, and 5th BEST Club in the World.
They just won the FIFA FAIR PLAY award for the World Cup, making the AU the FAIREST CLUB in the WORLD! Too much ... just too much ... I don't know if I could handle anymore ... please, someone ... get me a glass of water ...!
No AUSTRALIAN TV or RADIO broadcasted this game. It was too THREATENING for the Aussie Rules football code because THE AU was drumming up too much AUSTRALIAN support, unheard of by ANY other CLUB TEAM in any other Australian Football Code (we have 3 codes of football). It's called CENSORSHIP! The only way to view this was from STREAMS through the internet!
Actually SBS did show it due to popular demand. However, it was on one of their other channels, channel 35 or something from memory, if you have a set-top box (ten HD n all that), its how I watched it, and on foxtel as well I believe, someone could confirm or deny that.
ImBored1111, nice to know. Bit late for that. Anyway, I saw it streamed via the internet. Their loss! I'm glad they buckled under popular demand ... but did it have to get to that? The pee brains at SBS need to get their act together. They claim they are AUSTRALIA's World Football channel, and they have TOTALLY failed us ALL! I can see ALL Foreign football games, and foreign Champion Playoffs, but damned if I could see an AUSSIE game. Bunch of wankers if you ask me! LOSERS ...!
ImBored1111, AND WHAT's WITH ALL THE RADIO stations. NOT ONE could telecast an important international AUSSIE game. Screw them also. We've GOT THE INTERNET so I'd like them to CENSOR THAT ... fascists AUSSIE media!

Stunning strike, one of the best goals to come from an A-League player.

Well when top clubs see good, quiet players these, they will snatch them up. Adelaide is unable to support big pay grades.

time for central coast mariners and newcastle jets to compete in Asia next year.
christopherhello07 3 years ago
i reckon the mariners will do decent and jets will be shithouse.
FaintestFusion 3 years ago
have to agree with that, i'm an adelaide fan but i think that mariners will pass the group stage and who knows after that how far they can go.
bishop202 3 years ago
adelaide needs a proper number 9 that can hold up the ball so that christiano can play behind him and take on the defenders, and score like that.
