  • I love this. I played it for my older kids.

  • Both those the support and critique serve a greater purpose. If those that created the technologies were not encouraged, it could stifle innovation. If those technologies were not critiqued it could stifle refinement.

Where do you go when no one pays attention? Where do you go when when you don't have a sense of how to improve?

In the greater sense, balance is served here. It's the social manifestation of the political model of checks and balances.

    Complain about technology....or complainers.

  • Every time I'm about to complain about some piece of technology that isn't performing quite the way I think it should, I always stop myself and think about how my parents grew up. And THEIR parents. And so on, and so on. Then I realize that I am far, far too spoiled for my own good.

    CK is the man. :)

  • RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!

  • I disagree that people are somehow different today. There has always been stupid people who are so narrow-minded that they cannot see what the world is around them. Are we spoiled today? Yes, technology is a great thing and the march of science will continue as long as religion gets the hell out of the way. We should appreciate these things every day as life today is just awesome. Whenever I get on an airplane, a train, or a large boat, I am always fascinated. Maybe cause I am an engineer.

  • haha..this is hilarious how he made all those whining..!!

  • 1:46 LOL

    I love this part..

  • pretty sure it's lou-ee

  • "You're sitting in a CHAIR... IN THE SKY." Bwahahahaha

  • The foundations are capitalism did not fail, they were intentionally derailed.

  • they were intentionally exploitative actually

  • People are exploitative, not capitalism.

  • Amen, brother. And it's just gotten started good if Maobama sees his plan through.

  • Louis is the french spelling for Louie. So they were right, some people want to peonounce it the american way though

  • Lou-ee. They probably named the show that so people wouldn't be asking how to pronounce it all the time.

  • Lou-ee. He refers to himself as Lou-ee during one of his performances. Chewed Up, I think.

  • He obviously wasn't talking about satellite phones. Besides, those are expensive and clunky.

The fact he doesn't know how cell phones work doesn't really invalidate his point.

However, someone else was right in that every generation thinks the younger generation is stupid - his parents called his generation stupid, he's calling ours stupid, we'll call our children's generation stupid.

  • maybe cuz we're getting more and more stupid by generation

  • CK fucking nails it. People are spoiled rotten pricks anymore. Some people need to be taken down a notch. My fucking generation is worthless know it all brats.

    /enter the loathing

  • Well, the boomers raised us. Blame 'em.

  • This guy is a genius...

  • Ahahaha fucking brilliant!

  • A great comic commenting on a truly un-appreciative generation that I belong to. Keep up the great work Louis!

  • I'm right, you're wrong, fuck you

  • You are right with yoru facts but shouting down any argument in the video based on that fact is wrong since the very creation of a cell phone is an amazing piece of technology whether or not it goes to space (A signal COULD end up going to space depending on the call or service being used BTW just not usually) so just because Louis CK doesn't know how a cell phone works doesn't make his point invalid

I realize that you probably know that already, just in case other people read the argument wrong

  • I never said his point was invalid.

  • I know, just thought it was important for anyone else reading the argument who might think it made it invalid...

  • lol i hate when youtubes down for like a minute

  • This is My favorite commentary on the condition of this lame horrid creature called 'human being' Dear God, wipe the slate, start over.

  • dumbass. he means the signal goes to space retard.

  • Comment removed

  • its not a satellite phone cus theres no such thing as a sattelite phone not because it doesnt go to space. lol u calling me a know it all? says the one who has to correct me.....

  • you're right, satellite phones don't exist. they never have. I just made that up for the purpose of beating you at the internet.

  • Swatrecon ....you sound like know it all tosser!

  • Whoa, hot rod. Satellite phones have been around for YEARS, man. Granted, you don't get one free with your two-year commitment, tho, so I guess that's why you STILL don't know about them.

    (You gotta have money)

Do you really think you can get a cell signal EVERYWHERE? Of course they have satellite phones. It's just that YOU don't.

  • i have a fucking cell phone. im not retarded about phones, i know how to use them and i know how they work.

  • He's a funny guy, but what he speaks about is so true.

Back in the mid 80s when I was 16 yrs old, I new nothing compared to what I know now.

Gen Y are far from special, and give no benefits to society, all they know is how to take (none contributing zeros).

  • Every generation thinks the generation that follows theirs is useless and lazy and pathetic.

Gen Y will call out Gen Z and they will call out whatever cute little Gen tag they get and so on...

    to everything turn turn turn...

  • Yeah, but I'm only 22 and I totally know that this generation is lazy and useless and pathetic LOL and I'm part of the problem, but its how things are now, I guess.

  • Dude. OK you're right, 22 is about the dead-center of the obnoxious, useless bunch that seem to irritate the entire world. HOWEVER- if you know you're 'part of the problem' what do you attribute that to and have you made some decision to rise above being, uh, a weiner? I work with a 22 year old and he hates almost everyone his own age, but he acts exactly like them! Ppl text each other saying 'oo I don't want to TALK to him' and I'm thinking WTF, really? It's THAT bad, you can't even TALK?

  • lol, I'm not sure why my previous comment got a thumbs down - its perfectly honest. I attribute this generation's laziness to an overdependence on technology. Everything seems to be remote or voice activated, automated in some way. Its a pretty direct correlation with the rapidly rising rates of obesity. People just aren't doing things for themselves anymore, and a lazy body leads to a lazy mind. So yeah, I'm part of the problem, by default, for living as part of that lazy existence.

  • This is so true, i actually question myself now...Two thumbs up!!

  • Hilarious video, Louis CK speaks the truth!

  • Made me laugh really hard.

  • It's comedy, moron. Get over it.

  • pfft! Lighten up. He's just putting things in perspective.

  • fuck expectations.

  • What konakazi said.

  • Ugh Oh Another Youtube Try hard, Chill buddy XD

  • Quit being a nagging cunt

  • thekrimsonchin, I think you missed the point of the joke. Check out Q & A with Louie CK.

  • "it's going to space!"

  • The bloke is a ledgend. Proper

  • maaaannnn i have never heard it put so well, drives me crazy when people r like, urrr i gotta do laundry, oh really its that hard huh, grab ur clothes walk somewhere put em in a machine with whatever else u want and press a flippin button, thank god they never had to ACTUALLY wash the clothes.

  • Congratulations, you fail.

  • ahhhhhhh, see how clever you are.

  • Awsome!

  • I love that part were hes like " Your sitting in a chair and FLYING"

  • i discovered this guy yesterday and in less than 24 hours, hes one of my favorite people of all time.

  • You should head to a store and pick up his awesome show, which was on HBO for one season, on DVD. Pretty vulgar and great!

The show was called Lucky Louie.

  • Check out the show "Lucky Louie" it's his HBO comedy, and it's awesome!

  • now you watch a movie take a dump and your home

  • you're sitting in a chair.... IN THE SKY! god this is hilarious

  • SO TRUE

    AMAZING

  • there are some very ignorant people ranting about this video... He hit the nail on the head with his examples... VERY VERY FUNNY!

  • We ARE a generation of spoiled idiots. We in the US, at least.

  • no its global its hilarious and depressing.

  • So right!

  • Right on!

  • oh man...he's so right about the airplane thing. i never understood how people let flying become miserable.

  • He's right,this generation sux:)

  • yeah, he's kinda right. the worlds not that shitty.

  • Wow. Hilarious stuff!

  • "How quickly the world owes him something he knew existed only ten seconds ago."

"GIVE IT A MINUTE; IT'S GOING TO SPACE!"

    Baaaahahahahahahaha.

  • This is soooo funny, and soooo true!!

  • the man speaks the truth, thank god.

  • Completely irrelevant to the video, kthnxbye

  • There is no God.

  • i agree with you dispite a few other things you said but Reagen and Thatcher is really to blame they set the foundations for the failing economy people after them just finished the job

  • when more than 50% of voters re elected Bush it was difficult for non-americans to grasp their rationality. Now the world economy is paying for that legacy. It is therefore refreshing to non-Americans to be reminded Americans are more than that.

  • Loved it!

    thanks for posting :-)

  • so true and such a sane american :-)

  • because no americans are sane,,,,?

  • man i had to show this clip to my whole family, we were bustin up the whole time. thanks for posting

  • Ditto Thanks TR for tweeting this...how quickly we forget all those old ways. This is a great chuckle!! Need more laughs in our days and this will do it.

  • He's one of the funniest comedians out there imo

  • "You're sitting in a chair...

    ...in the SKY!"

    Awesome.

  • So funny!

  • Thanks TR for having this on your tweet !!!

  • Awesome! HAHA XD lol So true!

  • people dont like to give things up

  • he is the king.

  • That was true an really funny!

  • So true!

  • wtf are u talking about?

  • what r u talking about?

  • In a way this is good. People will complaining until we invent everything.

  • This is very funny! We all must be grateful! But just because we were primitive we should not claim our freedom and change! But more important than technology is having compassion and coscience to appreciate change and remain human not becoming cutthroat only because we can cheat and steal from others as fast as they create things! Those who complain 4 little things have not evolved to have larger purpose to unite to be a free world with Universal Laws in health and excellence! That takes work

  • hahahaha. lol. hilarious

  • so true

  • This is brilliant!

  • simply said. this is hillarious

  • 1:30 I agree, "we live in the most amazing amazin world and it's wasted on the most crappiest generation..."

yeah I guess I'm part of that crappy generation, but I agree. We should be in awe of everything around us!

  • Being in awe is good at first but its not somewhere you want to stay because then progress would slow down...

    Keep Moving Forward

  • I entered the debate as I value the freedom of speach. I can do what I want. Besides, all you see is humor within this man as you're not taking the things he says seriously 'caus you obviously belive that he makes this up JUST to make you laugh. Some people have, surely laughed at this, but still disagrees with what's he's saying by debating. And so am I. If it fucks you up caus you're an antisocial bastard, then go and cut your wrist in a corner, you seem to have a expertise in where and how.

  • How the fuck is that a downing comment?

It's simply facts you generalizeing bastard.

  • uh oh... two Gingers on stage!

  • He is absolutely right

  • Damn, I thought I was the only one that felt like that whenever I've been on a plane...

  • FUNNY AND SO TRUE!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome, but if this is the first time Louis has said this, I'm afraid Grand Theft Auto IV beat him to it...

  • Aslong as everything develops and new things, ideas and techniques gets invented you can always get used to it, use your imagination over how cool, comfortable or less annoying the thing or whatever could be. Therefore you'll complain. Everyone does it about something, and it's natrual and necessary, otherwise we wouldn't invent them and keep on improving them.

Problems we have today are retarded comparing how they had it 50 years ago?

How about the people 100 years ago?

  • lol the comments are hilarious

  • If this video upsets you, you're one of the people he's talking about and thus part of the problem.

  • haha, so nice!

fuckers, can't you see that the general world we are living in is much more modern than about maybe 40 or 50 years ago.. That doesn't mean that people doesn't work their asses up today, but seriosly don't bitch about your hard life today, cause back then they didn't have the technologi in traffick, sciense and so on.

    You're a nice comic Louis C.K!

  • lrn2spell

  • Hold up here ... this isn't about "adults" vs "teenagers" vs "tweens" or whatever ... this is about how blind we have become as a WHOLE SOCIETY to just how amazing we have it in today's world. It's about not taking things for granted, and it's totally right on the money, as far as I'm concerned. Louis C.K. is a comic genius, just enjoy and laugh along ... it's good for you!

  • Whoa dude, you need to cool your jets just a little bit here, ok? If you reread my post, you'll see that I haven't called anybody "spoiled" ... that was *your* reading, not mine. I don't see Louis expressing any desire to "give up computers, cell phones ... etc." In fact, he talks about how crappy old rotary phones were, and how much better we have it today. He's just commenting on how rarely we stop to appreciate those improvements in our daily lives for what they are ... IMPROVEMENTS!

  • Oh, and, I've worked my ass off for everything I have as well. So have most of the people I know. C'mon, you think you're some sort of martyr? That doesn't really have anything to do with it, so just try and mellow out a bit, give your blood pressure a rest, and stop taking it so *personally*, sheesh!

  • did i say i was some sort of 'martyr'. (and it does have something to do with it)

im just tired of people like you and that other dude as well as this 'comedian' saying how ppl 'taking things for granted' (which is what you said and not *my* reading). i say speak for yourselfs cause if some one works there ass off for there shit instead of getting it handed to them from here parents or winning it some how then they can 'take it for granted' all they want, they've earned the right to.

  • LOL hopefully this guy made at least 1 person realize how much of a whiny bitch they are when they complain about their flight

  • Comment removed

  • nailed it

  • this is the best video ever and louis ck is the funniest comic to me. i heard that this bit is like 40 minutes now if you could find it could you please post it

  • Can we not bicker about comedic dynamics and just enjoy the damn video? Jesus christ. It's like everytime I watch a video I always look down and see the comments left by some idiots having a ridiculous internet argument. Just shut your pie hole and enjoy the comedy already.

    Also, Louis CK is brilliant.

  • its really rare when i actually laugh out loud watching youtube clips rather then just finding it funny and typing "lol" in the comments. this guy actualy makes me laugh, he is a comic genius

  • This is one of the best commentaries I've ever seen or heard.

  • Louis used to be in the writing staff for Late Night, he and Conan are friends. I think he's playing along and letting him do his thing, not dismissing him.

  • yup

  • Not really. You really have no idea about comedic dynamics. See, Louis is basically doing stand up in the clip. A lot of comedians do that on talk shows (see Jim Gaffigan, for instance). It's not a standard interview for Conan, which is why it seems a maybe a bit awkward. He's just trying to be another member of the audience, and maybe set up a premise or two. I don't see why you have to turn it into a damn competition.

  • by far my favorite comedian in the history of my own exitance

  • All true! Good to remember.

  • This man speaks wisdom.

  • i love this guy! makes me feel normal...

    people suck ass!

  • I am in the same boat with you. I feel like I am the only one who hates people.

  • sooo true.

  • haha. he's talking about my generation, and even i agree and think it's funny. :P

  • you watch your movie, you take a dump and your home.......gold.

  • i remember these days, technology today is magnificent! just wait until 30 years from now :)

  • But that's part of why it's funny.

  • lol

  • I can really relate to this guy! The wonders of technology continue to make things easier. But the best part of it is this: It gives people new things to bitch about.

  • bahahaha flatafutu your ignorance is extraordinary.

  • first, flatafutu, get the rod out of your ass.

second, can't eveyone just stop being pretentious dicks and laugh at a comic without picking him apart, its fucking funny get a life

  • "Is the speed of light too slow for you?"

    I LOVE THIS GUY.

  • aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh
