@lebleh think its 6/8 if you listen closely to the tempo it changes from allegro to a slower walking pace i think its a lovely peice of music take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I know I am going to be scolded by every one who actually knows something about classical music (that excludes me), but I really like Vivaldi, and Albinoni and Beethoven, and Bach a lot better than Mozart. It's really uplifting. I can't help it, I am sorry, Mozart's music sounds a bit boring.
@eftekhar2006 Why would that be a problem? The thing is that Mozart has somehow eclipsed so many other composers, probably because of the circumstances of his life and death. His music is great, but he's not the only composer out there. That's why YouTube is great for introducing lesser-known composers to the world. Many thanks to HARMONICO101.
@UKpatriot90 Sorry, to be honest I didn't know that at all, I wonder why my former music teacher didn't tell us about this. I mean, I know that there are different kinds of musical tuning but I didn't know that. Why?
@UKpatriot90 I don'T know I thought it was a matter of different tunings, like the double bass, for instance, can be tuned differently and solo tuning sounds higher than orchestral tuning. But know, thanks to you, I am a bit wiser again. Thanks
@TheDavid2222 This oboe has a rather darker tone, resembling that of a cors anglais because it's quite an old oboe from around the 1730's I believe. It's also made of a different combination of woods, unlike modern horns which are grendilla wood throughout unless otherwise specified. As noted in the description, this particular oboe tunes well to A=415Hz.

@daj721 Yes I know that...But I think that no matter who write, play the music or what it is its name, we have to listen to it, enjoy it, without knowing anything...It's true free mind believe me...Just try that and you'll feel everything...
@HashSmokerDude420 They didn't even have electricity back then, therefor no computers. This is just a modern recording by a baroque group. Yes, this music is still played today...

I really like barock musik. And when I´m listen to this Oboe Concerto I´m thinking I´m in the barock epoche (I dont know what´s Epoche in english, because I´m from German). Do you play an instrument too? I play the Violin, the Violoncello and the Piano. (?woher?) have you the pictures?
Baroque oboe--that's why it sounds different. Much more "musical" quality, and much less like the quacking of a duck (or braying of a donkey)! Have you heard the baroque "oboe d'amore"? It has a wonderful tone quality--so smooth, lovely, and sensual (hence its name). Interestingly, the baroque oboe blends wonderfully with the natural or baroque trumpet (valveless)--in fact, when the two are playing together, it is often difficult to tell them apart! Wonderful sounds, these old instruments have!
@danielchong1234 vivaldi vs. j.s. bach vs. handel (would love to put Telemann in the line up, but just can't....), vivaldi is the best? music snobs prepare to fight! haha (btw I love all) my money is on Bach though, sit down and play Art of Fugue Cannon per Augmentation in contrario motu on your keyboard and maybe you'll agree...
This is beautiful. I couldn't help but to think of Alice in Wonderland when listening to this concerto. It is filled with excitement at some parts while filled with mystery at others all while maintaining a certain dream-like quality. I hope in the future I'll get to play this wonderful concerto.
when vivaldi writes anything in a minor key, it sounds very sinister...more sinsiter than one would imagine from a normal minor key piece...i love it man!
Excellent! I heard a version of this concerto but the oboe was replaced by a cello. The result is superb also. The cellist was Antonio Janigro with his Solisti di Zagreb ensemble.

Yes, I've listened to the Bassoon concertos you've posted, thank you. It's great to see them on here. The Oboe concertos recorded by I Solisti Veneti with Claudio Schimone are fabulous, Pierre Pierlot is the soloist, incredible feeling and dynamics, amazing recording. Same with the Mandolin concertos - I think the it's best available...if you can find it.
One of the very few baroque composers who wrote extensively for woodwind, and with exemplary skill and understanding of the instruments' range and capacities at that. He wrote 39 pages of bassoon music alone. Have you heard I Solisti's recordings of the oboe concertos?
did vivaldi know that bach was trascribing his work in germany for harpsichord and organ? if so what how do you think he would have taken it in those days?
Vivaldi had no idea Bach transcribed his music as Bach was not very well-known outside of Germany, especially at this time as Bach was still a young man when he made the transcriptions. I have no idea how Vivaldi would have reacted, but I'm sure there were many student composers transcribing or studying his music out there.
Who told you this information. They never even met! Bach actually took lessons from who was at the time a well known musician, Buextehude, organist. Heck if you compare their music you can see the similarity, though you can also see that bach was intensely more tallented and made buextehudes style of composition much more complex. Though bach isn't known for bring anything "new" to the table, he is likely the very pinacle of the baroque era. But...theres no way he took a lesson from vivaldi...
Giving lessons is not being part of a Class Group or something like that... In music, is to be permeated by other one's music. Bach loved Vivaldi's music, and made several transcriptions of what he heard...

Hmm... I'll keep those in mind. Thanks for the recommendation!

One of the very few baroque composers who wrote extensively for woodwind, and with exemplary skill and understanding of the instruments' range and capacities at that. He wrote 39 pages of bassoon music alone. Have you heard I Solisti's recordings of the oboe concertos?

I have heard OF them, but have not heard them. How are they?
By the way, I have a selection of 4 Vivaldi bassoon concertos posted if you would like to listen.

Thank you for uploading this superb concerto. Vivaldi knew how to write for the oboe, didn't he?

Yes, his woodwind music in general is spectacular.

did vivaldi know that bach was trascribing his work in germany for harpsichord and organ? if so what how do you think he would have taken it in those days?
shariotoflove 3 years ago
Vivaldi had no idea Bach transcribed his music as Bach was not very well-known outside of Germany, especially at this time as Bach was still a young man when he made the transcriptions. I have no idea how Vivaldi would have reacted, but I'm sure there were many student composers transcribing or studying his music out there.

thank you for that, merry christmas

Vivaldi gave a few classes to Bach, but some Bach's works actually are transcriptions of many other composers...
ManuelSpintoTenor 3 years ago
so they actually met, you are saying?
shariotoflove 3 years ago
What MauelSpintoTenor said is untrue. They never met, because Bach never left Germany, and Vivaldi never traveled anywhere near where Bach lived.
