Everybody seems surprised that dayton lied about his intentions, as a small business owner that risked all my retirement to start a company 10 years ago, I can guarntee you, he raises my taxes to 12% and I become a Wisconsin resident. Its easy for him to say to raise the taxes on the wealthy when he is paying 17% federal taxes due to long term captial gains. Nobody seems to look past the immediate needs and to the future, what doe she plan to do in two years when the budget needs to go up again?
Mark Dayton's chef and housekeeper are essential state employees.
The fact that all miller and coors brands will have to be taken off the shelves since their brand license expires tonight is plain stupid that they have to bribe the state to sell their products.
Everyone blames Dayton, the only people that don't are public employees and they will probably get fired if they talk trash about the democrats.
Considering MN's current state is a DIRECT result of tha Pawlenty years of financial mismanagement 2 now suddenly call out Dayton is laughable & partisan. IF tha only thing preventing tha end of shutdown is Dayton budging on campaign remarks then why doesn't tha GOP budge instead? No they're like tha pot calling tha kettle black - asking someone else 2 do what they are unwilling 2 do. Sure, they'll do something - as long as it's NOT what tha governor wants but Dayton is tha culprit? Get real!
@MRrhythmsNflows: Wow. Looks like we have another Dayton butt kisser. The shut down is a direct result of this moron daytons inability to see the truth of what needs to be done. None of his proposals affect him or his trust fund at all so his want to punish everyone else won't take any money away from him. The man is a total dickhead.
@bond519 Dayton may very well be a 'dickhead' (lol!) point is... tha reason MN is in tha position that a gov't shutdown was a forseeable possibility, clearly rests with tha previous admin. Pawlenty's budget policies were a fiscal nightmare now come home 2 roost. Making Dayton tha scapegoat 4 Pawlenty's failed economic agenda is absurd. Too bad folk don't really care about tha long term effects of continuing those benign policies. And if Dayton is a moron, he'll have ample time 2 make ur point.
@MRrhythmsNflows: your reasoning is so stupid. Just like saying that it is your cars fault for you getting a speeding ticket. So lets see if your liberal idiot brain can understand this. The States problem is too much spending not not enough money. So what you are being stupid enough to say is that Dayton isa fiscal genius? Bull. So what you are saying is that Dayton is not a pig headed fricking baby. You are another person that shoots your mouth off without any proof. Go get a speeding ticket.
@bond519 Okay... my reasoning is stupid & U are clearly an idiot bcuz idiots only hear what they want 2 hear. I said PLAIN AS DAY that Pawlenty's fiscal policies R at tha root of MN's current economic state. Who do U think spent the economy into tha toilet? Are U really that dense? I can state instance after instance after... (ad infinitum) on dumbass Pawlenty fiscal moves but Ur head is so stuck up Dayton's asscrack that U are blind 2 thoughtful reason. With all due respect - grow tha fukk up.
@MRrhythmsNflows: At least I am not stupid enough to blame my car for me getting a speeding ticket. I don't care if you said plain as day that Pawlenty's fiscal policies are at the root of Minnesota's current economic state. I am clearly saying that you are a stupid bastard that doesn't know shit. How clear is that to you now? Still blaming your car? You can state all you want but you don't know shit. My head is stuck up daytons ass? I hate that son of a bitch. I told you that you are stupid!
@bond519 Look troll, I'm done with U. Ur truly a moron (lol)! Car/speeding ticket??? WTF? I don't engage in mindless banter with FOOLS! I don't know shyt bcuz Ur head is so far up Dayton's ass in a pathetic tirade of misplaced blame U don't even see tha BIG picture. Return to Ur nonexistent channel, stop being a hater & leave Real politics 2 adults. Dumbass troll - even GOP lawmakers hold Pawlenty accountable for MN's mess. U partisan hack, tricks R 4 kids - really, just grow tha fukk up (smh).
@MRrhythmsNflows: I am glad you are done with me. I can't stand super stupid people like you. I love it when people like you show you utter stupidity and make idiotic statements like blaming a previous Governor for the current Governors stupidity. Like I said. That is as stupid as getting caught speeding and blaming your car for getting the speeding ticket. Like I said dumbass I can't stand Mark Dayton so I don't have my head up his ass. How damn stupid are you? Oh I forgot You're very stupid!
@bond519 Why R U still responding 2 me troll? Go away U dimwitted loser (lol!) U R so obviously clueless U blame Dayton 4 Pawlenty's shit. LOL, whatever idiot! Only a fool would believe a governor 4 all of 5 minutes is responsible for 8 years of financial mismangement - yeah okay, look small-minded person please troll elsewhere & bother someone else - U are as dumb as a fukking box of rocks - and that's an insult 2 rocks everywhere. Like I said, leave politics 2 adults and grow up, seriously!
@MRrhythmsNflows: Holy shit you are fricking stupid. The video is talking about the shut down NOT GOVERNMENT POLICIES you fricking idiot. GET THAT INTO YOUR STUPID FUCKING BRAIN. THE VIDEO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PAWLENTY AND HIS 8 YEARS OF BEING GOVERNOR. It is about Daytons lying and his Stupidity level which is just about as much as your stupidity level. You are the fucking idiot that needs to leave politics to the adults because a 1st grader is smarter than a dumbass dipshit moron like you!
@bond519 (2). U couldn’t compose any intelligent thought if Ur life depended on it. Provide proof U say - fukk U! If U disagree with what was said it’s Ur job 2 disprove it not 4 me 2 do it 4 U lazy son-of-bitch! U R a repulsive louse who lashes out at anyone who disagrees with Ur lame ass positions with belligerence and insults. Always aiming 2 incite bcuz Ur logic (or lack thereof) is not only flawed but clearly absent – only impressing other fools who R as one dimensional in thought as U R.
@MRrhythmsNflows: Come on now moron, Prove your dumb fucking no brained opinion! Or don't you have the guts to prove your bullshit opinion. Just what I thought. You are still blaming your car for your speeding tickets. You are such a moron.
@MRrhythmsNflows: Come on you idiot Democrat! Prove your stupid opinion Dayton ass kissing point! Come on dipshit! Prove it. Or don't you have the guts to prove it?
@bond519 Fukking moron, I never said I was a democrat or in luv with Dayton. U merely assumed I was bcuz Ur a partisan bitch who I will continue 2 force feed at my whim :)
@MRrhythmsNflows: You sure as hell did you fricking liar. You were stupid enough to blame Pawlenty for the Shutdown. So you love Dayton? You were too fucking stupid to read my posts and you were too fucking stupid to realize that I am a registered Republican and lied and said that I like Dayton. So considering you are nothing more than an opinionated dipshit liar You must be a Dayton ass kisser. So prove your dipshit opinion moron.
@bond519 This iz how idiotic U R... bcuz I state Pawlenty set in motion tha wheels that ballooned into an eventual gov't shutdown (a fact) that makes U assume I'm a democrat??? What a waste of air. Fukk U! Disprove what I've said MY bitch and we can proceed from there.
@MRrhythmsNflows: Well you were fricking stupid enough calling me a Dayton lover you moron. You don't even know what the video was about moron. The video is about Dayton being such a stupid stubborn dickhead just like you. You were just as stupid blaming the shut down on Pawlenty. So again if you are not a republican or democrat you must be a fucking Communist or maybe even a fucking Nazi!
@bond519 Again, Ur but a shameless partisan idiot! I said U R so far up Dayton's ass (in a lame attempt to hold him accountable for a mess CLEARLY inherited from tha previous admin) that U don't even see tha fact that T-Paw sent MN down tha river without a paddle long ago effectively nullifying what could have and should have been a simple budget restructuring rather need 4 a desperate overhauling that led 2 a government shutdown even being considered a possibility. This ain't rocket science.
@MRrhythmsNflows: So until you pull your head out of your ass so your brain can get some oxygen and you will allow yourself to actually think rather than keep posting your dumbshit opinion quit posting you frickitn fool. You are a discrace to any political party because you are so fucking stupid. Stay out of political opinion because your opinion is too fricking stupid for even dipshit Dayton to support and he has one stupid political opinion. The difference is he is still smarter than you.
@bond519 U R such an immature prick - still stalking me huh? Look lamebrain, anyone with an infant's IQ can see what a FOOL U R. But of course like tha troll U R U persistist with NO objective except 2 continue being a fukking imbecile. Dayton isn't shit, boohoohoo... get a life U partisan loser! Again, go hide back behind Ur nonexistent channel like tha pathetic piece of cowardice shit U R and leave politics 2 those with @ least marginal intellect. Hiding in cyberspace... Ur a fukking waste.
@MRrhythmsNflows: No dumbass I am a mature prick exposing s real stupid person. Oh yeah, You! Yes I continue because of stupid shitheads like you out there spewing your bullshit opinions that are so fricking wrong it is unreal. But yet you being the stupid bastard that you are, You keep posting your fricking stupidity. So moron, why don't you actually post some proof of the bullshit you post. You can't. Why don't you take your dumb fuck opinion and stick it up your nose and snort it. OK?
@bond519 (1). U one dimensional thinking/ass-backwards/mentally challenged/partisan-whore clown U make me laugh with Ur unending tirades/insults (lol)! How bout this, go fukk urself cuz that’s tha most pussy U’ll ever get. Not only R U a bitch, Ur MY bitch & U’ve been my bitch from tha moment U chose 2 enter my world with Ur childish bullshit. But hey, spew more - I like my bitches kinda feisty(lol)! An idiot who thinks tha world exists as black & white, either/or, right or wrong. Fukking poser!
@bond519 (3). Posturing on a YT blog 2 hype Ur sense of self worth cuz tha real U is nothing more than a petrified, immature, cowardice little troll hiding behind virtual reality begging 4 attention while hurling lame insults. U need attention bitch? Fine, I'm feeling generous, open wide. U wanna debate me degenerate, U best be packing more than lame ass insults. Till then by all means continue cuz me luv U long time. BTW: If pricks R mature then congratulations ass-wipe... U've hit tha jackpot!
@MRrhythmsNflows: The only thing I hate is stupid fukks like you. You can't even figure what side I am on you dumb bastard. Why don't you grow a fricking brain so you can actually make a smart post for once. Other than that good luck with your idotic and totally fricking stupid opinion. Who did you vote for, Goofy? I bet.
@homegrownsurvivor Poverty in america is a real thing, thousands die of malnutrition each year, even more die of easily treatable medical conditions. Every dollar in a billionaires savings account is a dollar that could be saving peoples lives. Our country has more than enough resources to ensure a healthy productive life to all of it's citizens, but the short term profit nature of the private sector makes it more profitable to deny the people of that, despite its cost of long term econ collapse
@homegrownsurvivor Absolutely not, increasing taxes has no effect on productivity. When taxes are high, people do not just mystically decide to stop making money. People who have benefit more from the fiscal system in the country should pay a larger portion in taxes. The government has a responsibility to the people, and that responsibility demands social programs, these programs must be paid for somehow, and taxing is the ONLY means to do so. Wealthier people are able to pay more so they should
What a load of crap. "Unnecessary tax increase". That is all he wants to change, he is letting the crazies cut a bunch of spending and all he wants to do is raise taxes for the top percent, it has nothing to do with 99% of you who are up in arms about this, you do not make over 1 mil a year so what do you care?
@gravelandgrain100 I agree with you there, Wellstone was an AMAZING leader. Pawlenty was decent AS A LEADER ONLY. Otherwise he kinda singlehandedly got us into massive paralyzing debt....
@BrentJ277 Keynes theory of economics was the driving force behind the economic recovery after the great depression, that is success in the real world.
I think I remember reading somewhere that your economic hero John Maynard Keynes denounced his own theory before he died.
If we went by your plan, yes the big employers like 3M may stay but it would be with a special tax break set up because of being well connected but the small business owner will get soaked or be driven out of the state to a state where there are fewer restrictions on capital formation.
Imagine that the economy is like Pegasus, everyone wants Pegasus to
A couple of things for you to ponder: So if government spending and high taxes make for such a wonderful economy why isn't the national unemployment rate at .1% right now, why are the economies of Texas, South Dakota, and North Dakota thriving, and why aren't the economies of New York, Michigan, and California the models of prosperity?
As a Business Major, I know that capital is highly mobile. So if I know that once I go over $999,999.99 of income for the year I will be taxe
@Brent4Liberty Unemployment is high because taxes are at the lowest point since the great depression and we continue cutting government jobs further depreciating the mobility of capital. When more people have more money there is more spending, when a small amount of people have tons of money, there is low spending, this causes the economy to stagnate, which is what we are seeing now.
Fallacy #1 taxes are at the lowest point since the great depression: Taxes were lower under Reagan than the were under Bush / Obama.
Fallacy #2 we continue cutting government jobs further depreciating the mobility of capital: Government does not invest for a profit, it invests for a political return by buying votes and supporting transfer of wealth programs.
When Reagan took office, unemployment was at around 20%, interest rates were high and the economy was in the crapper, he cut taxes and shrunk government some, then the economy took off like a rocket..
mnmajoritydotorg - a laughable title indeed, a group that supports policy for the top 2% proclaiming they are the majority - nice try!
Balancing budgets with austerity measures affecting the poor, working poor, and middle class as opposed to - god forbid, the millionaires and multi-millionaires stepping up and helping our state with this revenue issue - SHAME ON YOU! Even Reagan, EVEN REAGAN raised taxes - even he would laugh at the ridiculousness of this Grover Norquist idealogy.
@homegrownsurvivor poverty and unemployment have nothing to do with laziness, they have to do with the unwillingness of the private sector to create jobs despite a record surplus in private funds and executive incomes. The situation we are in now closely mirrors the great depression in wealth disparity and high poverty level. We were able to get out of that by 3 things. Creation of public jobs for war, creation of public jobs for infrastructure, and high taxes. blaming laziness is propaganda.
Biggest budget in history? Typically budgets DO go up in a bi-yearly budget to account for inflation. Believe what you want about tax policy, I don't care, but how do you play the "not compromising card" on this? Dayton is trying to craft policy with political neophytes who feel the stinky, icy breath of an increasingly paranoid and nasty Right wing breathing down their necks. Not one of these congressional Republicans cares about civil society, or compromise, the record clearly shows this.
I wonder what our jobs outlook would look like if chris christie was our gov along with the heros that promised not to increase taxes and kept that promise.
the story goes on the poor man pays the band while the rich man dances and nobody has the balls to stand up and say anything , time for them to pay an equil share as all of us who work hard to live our lives to the fullest
In all respect I am poor(no job,on food stamps, living with senior mom). Yet, I understand the free market enterprise system in U.S.A....
Why raise taxes on the geniuses and the engines of America's best business folk? Here is Governor Dayton's created ideal/atmosphere for business owners:
1) What is our incentive for profit(creating more business-more jobs etc.) if the state will take more money from me? ZERO
2) Is it a myth that the rich in USA will know MN as the tax and spend state? NO
There's at least as big a difference between "a tax increase" and "the tax increases you want" as there is between taxing those earning $250k and up and those earning a million and up. He did not insist on the tax increase he wanted but shrank it dramatically. Which is what makes this video so misleading.
Dayton didn't shut it down, the pubs did it. They were near a settlement and they try to bring in all their social crap. The pubs deserve all the scorn that can be heaped upon them What a bunch of weasel's
The people don't care about the rich that the republicans are trying to fight for. They are a miniscule minority and should pay their fair share. Don't let the "they will take jobs out of state" propaganda fool you. It is a scare tactic and we have already heard it before. The poor have suffered thoroughly already and the working middle class is starting to fall into the working lower class. Time for the rich to pay up. They are not anymore citizens that the poor single mom trying to make it.
What bullsh*t. You rip a quote out of context and expect people not to notice? He was asked if he'd "shut government down to get the tax increases you want." But HE has been willing to compromise on taxes. HE budged on what he wanted. Unlike the Republicans, who decided that Dayton's further compromise, to only raise taxes on the very wealthiest Minnesotans--fewer than 8000 Minnesotans, millionaires all--wasn't enough. They'd protect the poor little millionaires, whatever the cost.
@lemondrift Governor Dayton's statement is not out of context. You can watch the entire debate for yourself at KSTP DOT COM - search for "EXTENDED VIDEO: Watch the Entire Gubernatorial Debate."
The governor has been unwilling to comprise - he shut down the government because he is demanding a tax increase, even though this is the largest budget in Minnesota's history.
@mnmajoritydotorg Ha just throw around the "largest budget in mn history" phrase a bit more... not like every single biennium shouldn't be the largest ever by default or anything due to accounting for inflation, etc. Way to play dirty politics to the detriment of our state.
@mnmajoritydotorg: You are right. Moron Daytons statement is not taken out of context. Liberals don't want to hear the truth about what is going to happen because that means their idiot hero will be exposed for his total stupidity.
@bond519 You mention truth but ignore the fact that conservative policy has been an overall failure in this country since Reagan. Here's some history. Reagan takes office, and slashes taxes, the national debt skyrockets, he realizes his mistake and raises taxes 11 times while in office. Bush 1 campaigns on no new taxes, debt increases further, he raises taxes, debt begins to tapir off. Clinton raises taxes and balances budget, record surplus. Bush slashes taxes debt multiplies by 4 times.
@TheTechReactor: Which fact are you talking about? The lies that you post or the real facts that you don't post? Before you post again stop using your lying Liberal calculator. You know the one that lies for you about when taxes increased? Well enlighten all of us with your false wisdom. What taxes increased with Regan. You lie again about Clinton balancing the budget. Clinton did not balance the budget. He just lied that he did. So again, please enlighten us on your liberal lies.
@o2ill: Well moron, I did my homework. My information came directly from the Federal Government. So where does a lying liberal moron like you get your info?
@bond519 Actually 85% of Reagan's budget deal was tax increases, while 15% was spending cuts. Reagan believed in lower taxes, but after lowering them too much, he increased them in order to repair the social programs he realized he was destroying and were vastly needed. He also needed the same taxes to fund his War on Drugs. Reagan was a good man, he understood that although ideology was important, the people were more important.
@TheTechReactor: GET SOME REAL INFORMATION. YOU ARE A BIG FAT DEMOCRAT LIAR!!!!!!!!!! STOP GIVING YOUR LIBERAL LYING OPINION AND POST PROOF. Until then you are posting nothing but lies. Lies lies lies.
@bond519 Also Clinton did balance the budget, in fact he did it so well there was a surplus of $236 billion per year. Comparing that to Reagan who had a deficit of 221 billion, Bush 1 who had a deficit of 290 billion, and Bush 2 who had a deficit of 304 billion. It should seem like no doubt that "conservative" fiscal policy is the reason for the ever increasing debt.
@TheTechReactor: Yeah right. Again why don't you go and look up your information and make sure it is correct because all I see you posting are your liberal BS lies. How come you Democrats can never come up with legitimate proof of your information. You just expect everyone to believe you because your almighty savior Obama is in the White House? Now information directly from the Federal Government is calling you a big fat liar.
@bond519 First of all, Obama is not my savior, he is an example of what is wrong with the Democratic party right now. Nothing I have posted is a lie, I have no clue what "government information" you are talking about, but everything I posted has been fact, do a quick google search for graphs of the U.S. Deficit.
@TheTechReactor: First of all everything you post is a lie unless you can provide proof that it isn't a lie. But until you can provide the proof otherwise then I guess your posts are lies. Make sure your google posts are true and not backed by liberal boneheads. I looked up the Income tax percentage rates and again your posts are total lies. I agree, Obama is what is wrong with politics in general.
and that is THE truth. I can't believe how this shutdown is being blamed on one side or another-neither side including our governor's is offering any options. Now they want a "lights on" bill..WTF-now?? Why not before the first of the month? It will take guts from someone to make this shutdown end. But no one in St Paul is willing to take a stand. I would accept a tax increase and cuts, but I am sick of the leadership up there using this to further their own agenda.
@TheTechReactor: Moron. If Bush would have left fiscal policy the way it was when Clinton left office we all would be in the poor house. So here is my advice for you. Make sure your posts are correct.
@bond519 You know you are wrong so you use Ad-Hominems to attack my intelligence despite having no facts to back yourself up. In what way would a government surplus put us all in the poor house. It is literal fact that the government had a surplus of over 200 billion per year when Clinton left the white house, nobody argues against that. I cannot put links or graphs on Youtube, otherwise I would show my evidence. You are mentioning tax percentages meaning I'm lying? What do you even mean by this
@TheTechReactor: I just love how you liberal fools can't prove a damn thing but you say that I am wrong. It is real simple you moron. I looked up the federal income tax codes directly from the Federal Government and you are stupid enough to say I am wrong yet all you can come up with is your idiotic opinions backed by your dumbass faith in a Democratic system that has never worked, Never will work and you can not come up with proof. But I wish you would at least try?
@mnmajoritydotorg maybe increasing taxes would be better than stripping government down to a skeleton with few, underfunded public services. you dont represent the REAL majority, the majority got Dayton elected
@lemondrift Naw dude, he lied. I support Dayton on his budget, I'm not a Dem AT ALL, but he did lie. He pretty much admitted it and said he couldn't avoid it. I believe that. A lot of rich people are fighting for that lake home in Wayzata right now. That being said, I think he is right for taxing the wealthy. Sick of corporatism running this country and state.
@dsm19581 I agree with you about people making their point by "swearing"...
Thus, keep in mind that lemondrift probably sucked on a "few sour lemons before writing"(just kidding)!!!! At any rate his/her amount of swearing is better than most of people who curse. It still doesn't make it right...
@lemondrift: Dayton has not been willing to compromise at all. He is a pig headed moron that is like a baby having a hissy fit when he doesn't get his way. The man should be in a straight Jacket instead of the Governorship. He is a discrace to Minnesota. He has not compromised on tax increases. You are right, He budgeted on what he wanted. Not what is needed. His revenue increase will backfire but he is too stupid to realize it. The S.O.B needs to be thrown out on his butt.
@lemondrift youre right, these guys are slanting everything against dayton, when hes doing what he can to keep the state functional. its the republicans that refuse to up their taxes. come on guys, take one for the team, its not all about ME ME ME!! its about US!! @mnmajoritydotorg why are you trying to blame the democrats for this? weve tried to compromise with you guys multiple times, and what did you do? try to slip in little laws here and there: anti abortion, anti gay marriage, etc. what BS
DS: if you really want to make the rich pay "their fair share" then you'd support a flat tax. Instead Governor Dayton wants to play Robin Hood with other people's money, while his family hides theirs in South Dakota..
If you "soak the rich" you dry up private investment, which dries up business, which dries up jobs, which then turns us into a cold Hawaii.
Mark Dayton's economic agenda can be found in Das Kapital..
@Brent4Liberty This is a ridiculous statement. A flat tax rate is very regressive, as income increases the opportunity cost of taxation becomes lower. This can be seen in the fact that those with lower incomes spend a larger percentage of incomes than the wealthy. This is because a majority of costs that lower income families procure are that of necessity, while the majority of costs wealthy families procure are that of luxury. A high tax percentage is much more damaging to lower income families
@Brent4Liberty I understand where you are coming from but there are 2 fundamental flaws with your statement. #1 Consumption taxes such as sales tax, and property taxes are regressive. By regressive I mean place a greater tax burden on people with lower incomes. This is because lower income families must spend a larger percentage of their income on survival, so their taxes will literally be a larger percentage of income than wealthy people who don't have to spend most of their income to survive.
@Brent4Liberty The other misconception you have is that the government has a means to live within. The government works significantly different than a business or people. The government "living within it's means" is a very clever linguistic attempt to connect the minds of responsible men and women, to the idea that somehow a government cannot have an unbalanced budget. While a balanced budget is preferred, a balanced budget is much more tolerable than passing the burden onto the citizens backs.
@Brent4Liberty I wanted to say one more thing about this. It is a common misconception that tax-cuts = job creation, however it is proven fact that spending increases = job creation. The first is false as exemplified by the 750,000 lost jobs per year after the bush tax cuts began, and the second by The New Deal and World War 2 which were both massive government expenditures that created unprecedented amounts of jobs.
How come Republicans can't just propose a bill that freezes or actually lowers spending instead of always increasing it? They're proud of the largest spending bill in history? Really? They're a bunch of wimps.
He didn't shut down the gov't because of his original tax increases. He tried to compromise and the legislature decided not to and that is why Minnesota gov't is shutting down.
@teddyturtle777 Tell that to the republicans they're the ones acting like little babbies not wanting to come to a REAL deal that won't fuck minnesotans in the ass.

@homegrownsurvivor Poverty in america is a real thing, thousands die of malnutrition each year, even more die of easily treatable medical conditions. Every dollar in a billionaires savings account is a dollar that could be saving peoples lives. Our country has more than enough resources to ensure a healthy productive life to all of it's citizens, but the short term profit nature of the private sector makes it more profitable to deny the people of that, despite its cost of long term econ collapse
TheTechReactor 7 months ago
@homegrownsurvivor Absolutely not, increasing taxes has no effect on productivity. When taxes are high, people do not just mystically decide to stop making money. People who have benefit more from the fiscal system in the country should pay a larger portion in taxes. The government has a responsibility to the people, and that responsibility demands social programs, these programs must be paid for somehow, and taxing is the ONLY means to do so. Wealthier people are able to pay more so they should

Imagine that the economy is like Pegasus, everyone wants Pegasus to
Brent4Liberty 7 months ago
@TheTechReactor:
Brent4Liberty 7 months ago
@Brent4Liberty Unemployment is high because taxes are at the lowest point since the great depression and we continue cutting government jobs further depreciating the mobility of capital. When more people have more money there is more spending, when a small amount of people have tons of money, there is low spending, this causes the economy to stagnate, which is what we are seeing now.
TheTechReactor 7 months ago
@TheTechReactor
BrentJ277 7 months ago
When Reagan took office, unemployment was at around 20%, interest rates were high and the economy was in the crapper, he cut taxes and shrunk government some, then the economy took off like a rocket..

TheTechReactor 7 months ago

NO
Rockioe 8 months ago
There's at least as big a difference between "a tax increase" and "the tax increases you want" as there is between taxing those earning $250k and up and those earning a million and up. He did not insist on the tax increase he wanted but shrank it dramatically. Which is what makes this video so misleading.

They'd protect the poor little millionaires, whatever the cost.
lemondrift 8 months ago
@lemondrift Governor Dayton's statement is not out of context. You can watch the entire debate for yourself at KSTP DOT COM - search for "EXTENDED VIDEO: Watch the Entire Gubernatorial Debate."
The governor has been unwilling to comprise - he shut down the government because he is demanding a tax increase, even though this is the largest budget in Minnesota's history.
mnmajoritydotorg 8 months ago 3
@mnmajoritydotorg Ha just throw around the "largest budget in mn history" phrase a bit more... not like every single biennium shouldn't be the largest ever by default or anything due to accounting for inflation, etc. Way to play dirty politics to the detriment of our state.
ammahowald 7 months ago
@mnmajoritydotorg: You are right. Moron Daytons statement is not taken out of context. Liberals don't want to hear the truth about what is going to happen because that means their idiot hero will be exposed for his total stupidity.
bond519 7 months ago
@bond519 You mention truth but ignore the fact that conservative policy has been an overall failure in this country since Reagan. Here's some history. Reagan takes office, and slashes taxes, the national debt skyrockets, he realizes his mistake and raises taxes 11 times while in office. Bush 1 campaigns on no new taxes, debt increases further, he raises taxes, debt begins to tapir off. Clinton raises taxes and balances budget, record surplus. Bush slashes taxes debt multiplies by 4 times.
TheTechReactor 7 months ago 2
@TheTechReactor: Which fact are you talking about? The lies that you post or the real facts that you don't post? Before you post again stop using your lying Liberal calculator. You know the one that lies for you about when taxes increased? Well enlighten all of us with your false wisdom. What taxes increased with Regan. You lie again about Clinton balancing the budget. Clinton did not balance the budget. He just lied that he did. So again, please enlighten us on your liberal lies.

Please do your homework before you start ranting and raving - and Faux News doesn't count as an honest source.
o2ill 7 months ago
@o2ill: Well moron, I did my homework. My information came directly from the Federal Government. So where does a lying liberal moron like you get your info?
bond519 7 months ago
@bond519 Actually 85% of Reagan's budget deal was tax increases, while 15% was spending cuts. Reagan believed in lower taxes, but after lowering them too much, he increased them in order to repair the social programs he realized he was destroying and were vastly needed. He also needed the same taxes to fund his War on Drugs. Reagan was a good man, he understood that although ideology was important, the people were more important.
TheTechReactor 7 months ago
@TheTechReactor: GET SOME REAL INFORMATION. YOU ARE A BIG FAT DEMOCRAT LIAR!!!!!!!!!! STOP GIVING YOUR LIBERAL LYING OPINION AND POST PROOF. Until then you are posting nothing but lies. Lies lies lies.
bond519 7 months ago
@bond519 Also Clinton did balance the budget, in fact he did it so well there was a surplus of $236 billion per year. Comparing that to Reagan who had a deficit of 221 billion, Bush 1 who had a deficit of 290 billion, and Bush 2 who had a deficit of 304 billion. It should seem like no doubt that "conservative" fiscal policy is the reason for the ever increasing debt.
TheTechReactor 7 months ago
@bond519 If Bush left fiscal policy the way it was when Clinton left office the debt would have been paid off this year.
TheTechReactor 7 months ago
@TheTechReactor: Yeah right. Again why don't you go and look up your information and make sure it is correct because all I see you posting are your liberal BS lies. How come you Democrats can never come up with legitimate proof of your information. You just expect everyone to believe you because your almighty savior Obama is in the White House? Now information directly from the Federal Government is calling you a big fat liar.
bond519 7 months ago
@bond519 First of all, Obama is not my savior, he is an example of what is wrong with the Democratic party right now. Nothing I have posted is a lie, I have no clue what "government information" you are talking about, but everything I posted has been fact, do a quick google search for graphs of the U.S. Deficit.
TheTechReactor 7 months ago
@TheTechReactor: First of all everything you post is a lie unless you can provide proof that it isn't a lie. But until you can provide the proof otherwise then I guess your posts are lies. I agree, Obama is what is wrong with politics in general.
bond519 7 months ago

and that is THE truth. I would accept a tax increase and cuts, but I am sick of the leadership up there using this to further their own agenda.
gravelandgrain100 7 months ago

bond519 7 months ago
@bond519 You know you are wrong so you use Ad-Hominems to attack my intelligence despite having no facts to back yourself up. In what way would a government surplus put us all in the poor house. It is literal fact that the government had a surplus of over 200 billion per year when Clinton left the white house, nobody argues against that. I cannot put links or graphs on Youtube, otherwise I would show my evidence. You are mentioning tax percentages meaning I'm lying? What do you even mean by this
TheTechReactor 7 months ago
@TheTechReactor: I just love how you liberal fools can't prove a damn thing but you say that I am wrong. It is real simple you moron. I looked up the federal income tax codes directly from the Federal Government and you are stupid enough to say I am wrong yet all you can come up with is your idiotic opinions backed by your dumbass faith in a Democratic system that has never worked, Never will work and you can not come up with proof. But I wish you would at least try?

aconstans93 7 months ago
DS: if you really want to make the rich pay "their fair share" then you'd support a flat tax. Instead Governor Dayton wants to play Robin Hood with other people's money, while his family hides theirs in South Dakota..
If you "soak the rich" you dry up private investment, which dries up business, which dries up jobs, which then turns us into a cold Hawaii.
Mark Dayton's economic agenda can be found in Das Kapital..
Brent4Liberty 8 months ago 2
@Brent4Liberty This is a ridiculous statement. A flat tax rate is very regressive, as income increases the opportunity cost of taxation becomes lower. This can be seen in the fact that those with lower incomes spend a larger percentage of incomes than the wealthy. This is because a majority of costs that lower income families procure are that of necessity, while the majority of costs wealthy families procure are that of luxury. A high tax percentage is much more damaging to lower income families
TheTechReactor 7 months ago 2
@TheTechReactor I actually prefer a system like Neal Boortz's Fair Tax, where we go to a straight consumption tax, ala Texas, Washington, and others.
Also I prefer a combination of spending cuts and a straight consumption tax. Government needs to live within its means.
Brent4Liberty 7 months ago
@Brent4Liberty I understand where you are coming from but there are 2 fundamental flaws with your statement. #1 Consumption taxes such as sales tax, and property taxes are regressive. By regressive I mean place a greater tax burden on people with lower incomes. This is because lower income families must spend a larger percentage of their income on survival, so their taxes will literally be a larger percentage of income than wealthy people who don't have to spend most of their income to survive.
TheTechReactor 7 months ago
@Brent4Liberty The other misconception you have is that the government has a means to live within. The government works significantly different than a business or people. The government "living within it's means" is a very clever linguistic attempt to connect the minds of responsible men and women, to the idea that somehow a government cannot have an unbalanced budget. While a balanced budget is preferred, a balanced budget is much more tolerable than passing the burden onto the citizens backs.
TheTechReactor 7 months ago
@Brent4Liberty I wanted to say one more thing about this. It is a common misconception that tax-cuts = job creation, however it is proven fact that spending increases = job creation. The first is false as exemplified by the 750,000 lost jobs per year after the bush tax cuts began, and the second by The New Deal and World War 2 which were both massive government expenditures that created unprecedented amounts of jobs.
