  • Does anybody have any footage of Missouri vs Notre Dame from 1978. I believe Mizzou won that game 3-0

  • The coach of the Boilers (In his first year replacing Alex Agase, the last player ever to be named consensus First-Team All-America for two different schools [Purdue and Illinois]) was Jim Young, who is one of only six coaches in I-A/FBS History to coach at least five years and never lose less than five games. The others are Tom Osborne, LaVell Edwards, Vince Dooley, Bo Schembechler and Pat Dye.

  • The Battle of Indiana probably an under appreciated College Football Rivalry

  • 1:16 best pose ever

  • Uh, make that 417 yards.

  • WTH?!, at 1:53 it says Montana threw for 413 yards in only 15 and a half minutes, how do you throw for 413 yards in only ONE quarter?

Throwing for 400 yards in an entire game is considered a feat.

  • It said in his previous 2 comebacks along with this one. The time of possession was 15 1/2 min. In the Colts/Dolphins Monday night game a few weeks ago, Peyton Manning threw for 303 yds in under 15 minutes, so it can be done.

  • @SunsetSupermanRMB

I know, I simply can't believe it, I want to see the highlights. But then again we should not doubt cool Joe!

  • Your right ND fan.

  • Okay... WTF were the Irish thinking? Montana wasn't starting? WTF!

  • yeah, i'm confused

  • I don't see how Montana was the second string QB at ND, who was the starter, God?

  • He was 3rd string in hi 4th year accordind to charlie wiess' book.

  • Close, i think it was Jesus maybe Zeus

  • Purdue has never has a QB the statue of Joe Montana. Not Orton,Painter,Dawson,Herrman,Brees or even Griese.

  • The game with ND is much bigger in West Lafayette then up north. The narrator here is Lindsay Nelson.Alot of NFL Films music here is being used.

  • yea its not quite as big in south bend

  • A Purdue linebacker named Fred Arrington put a monster hit on the ND quarterback that allowed Montana to play. Changed the course of history.

  • Go 9er's

  • Purdue shouldv'e won cuz Notre Lame sucks ****

  • not in '77.

  • but in 07=) moastly a purdue fan but id rather root 4 nd rather than iu

  • The Greatest Of ALLLLLLL TIMESSSSSSSS.

  • Taylor was Montana`s specialist receiver on clutch performance. Yes Jerry Rice became a great player becuase of the good throwing passer like MONTANA. So, Taylior had more winning receptions than RICE on cruzial moments, it`s on the books!!!!

  • Well then Michael Jordan succeed because of Phil Jackson, Pippen, Paxson, tec, etc, etc. No one can do it alone. Ask Lebron James!!!

  • 52 points in 15 minutes? that can't be right.

  • They're talking about Montana's play in his last 3 appearances as a relief QB : '75 vs. North Carolina, '75 vs. Air Force, and this '77 game vs. Purdue. The stats are correct. You can see highlights of all 3 games in my collection of clips here on You Tube.

  • I thought it meant 52 in that one game...but they meant 52 points overall, as you said, and then in this specific game, he only played 15 minutes...

  • No, the sum total of the scoring drives in the 3 games was 52 points in 15 1/2 minutes.

  • HA HA HA. So much for the theory that Montana *only* succeeded because of Bill Walsh and Jerry Rice.

  • Indeed. It's an unfortuante myth that still persists. For some reason many football forget that Montana won two Super Bowls without Jerry Rice, John, Taylor, or Brent Jones. Dwight Clark was a very good reciever but hardly anywhere near the same class of Jerry Rice.

In my opinion Joe Montana was the greatest quarterback of all time. I still recall his retirement speech and to this day I badly miss watching him work his football magic.

  • Great to see highlights of an old game like this on YouTube.

  • over 400 yards passing.imagine if montana had played the whole game.who knows what he would have had.
