@darkprose It's the last scene when they're taking turns torturing and murdering the slaves in their dressing gowns, this is played in the background when the Bishop starts whipping everyone with a flagellum and shouting. A terrifying scene intensified by the terrifying music.
I don't know if you meant to reply to me, since I hadn't noticed this question until now....
I'm not actually using ANY recording for reference. Just from what I remember when I was in band. We did this part, but instead of vocals, there was a great rich sound of the entire low brass section playing at piano-volume. Also, we put a muted trumpet in place of the piccolo that you hear here. It sounded infinitely more dramatic and exciting than a choir could ever hope to be.
Also, the timpani is supposed to be more subtle than just a simple "DUN... DUN" between verses. The first hit needs to be softer, and the second, barely perceivable, but loud enough to be heard.
I really don't like the interpretation done here of this section of Carmina Burana.
It's too quiet and needs more emphasis. The vocals are too strong and overbearing. The rest of the orchestra sounds weak. The low brass should be stronger and the percussion would sound better if the original dynamics were used instead of mindlessly chucked away...
Thx for posting.
But I hear shit.

@SilverPinions Ah, okay...yes, I've only been able to sit through that film twice, so my memory was a bit hazy. Thank you.

@radicalgarbage02
That seems unlikely, no instrument is as expressive as the human voice.
