  • made these. taste great!!!! i would add more vanilla though

  • CAN U HAND MIX THE BATTER?

  • @bellaisa54 Sure1

  • This is awesome! It's perfect for cut-out cookies but the cookies taste a little bland, I would suggest adding 1/4 cup of regular granulated sugar to sweeten it up! After all, they are sugar cookies! :)

  • Can i keep the dough in the refrigerator and bake it the following day? Thank you.

  • do you HAVE to put in cream of tartar? PLEASE REPLY! :D x

  • @AkifahNails There is not a good substitution.

Remember - When making substitutions in baking, you may end up with a somewhat different product. The taste, moisture content, texture and weight of a product can be affected by changing ingredients.

  • is cofectioners sugar what we in uk call icing sugar ?

  • @cardingsan Yes - its a very light powder.

  • @holidaykitchen thankyou for your quick reply they are in the oven baking as i type , :o)

  • @holidaykitchen Let us know how they turn out!

  • I made these 2 days ago, they are so good.

  • Thanks for adding the complete recipe.

  • That's what I said I said really? Almond?

  • do you really need almond extract???????????????

  • i don't use cream of tartar... Anyways isn;t this the same recipe for butter cookies. Lol.

  • i made these they turned out so good! :D

  • Can you hand mix? is there a recipe for gingerbread and frosting and the sugar cookie recipe that lets you hand mix INSTEAD of using a stand mixer??????????? can somebody please answer !!!

  • just made these, delicisouos, i spelled that wrong i am only in elementry school, but seriously they are really good

  • can anyone give me the dimensions in g? or dl?

  • confectioner sugar is powdered sugar or is it granulated sugar?

  • @bayiravimani Powdered.

  • @bayiravimani it should be powered just looking at the consistency, you can see that powdered sugar is different from granulated sugar, granulated sugar looks like sugar (crystal form) and powdered well it's basically powder...

  • im drooling >.<

  • Thank you very much for the recipe. I'm 11 years old. And I just got into baking somehow. I love baking now. I just want to say thank you very much for the recipe

  • @hotdog1997

    1 stick of butter = 8 ounces = 97g = .9 kg.

  • Does anyone know what a stick of Butter is for the uk?

  • @chataboutcakes 1 stick of butter = 8 ounces = 907 grams = .91 kg.

  • Comment removed

  • @holidaykitchen really? so you used nearly 2kg butter? 1 stick butter looks to me like about 120grams

  • @chataboutcakes 1 stick = approx 121g. Whenever anything asks for 2 sticks of butter I use one of our packs of butter i.e 250g HTH

  • Hello, i was wondering if you had to use the cream of tarter? please answer thank you

  • @ThePinkrose33 Cream of Tartar Substitute - The answer is, there is not a good substitution. If cream of tartar is used along with baking soda in a cake or cookie recipe, omit both and use baking powder instead. If it calls for baking soda and cream of tarter, I would just use baking powder.

  • @holidaykitchen Remember - When making substitutions in baking, you may end up with a somewhat different product. The taste, moisture content, texture and weight of a product can be affected by changing ingredients.

  • @holidaykitchen So if we use baking powder , how much should we use ?

  • @ThePinkrose33 Normally, when cream of tartar is used in a cookie, it is used together with baking soda. The two of them combined work like double-acting baking powder. When substituting for cream of tartar, you must also substitute for the baking soda. If your recipe calls for baking soda and cream of tarter, I would just use baking powder.

  • @holidaykitchen thank you very muh

  • Can you tell me the exact amount for the butter ? Cuz the butter i got is kinda thick , like 500g a stick .. no way i'll use 1000g for sugar cookies .. o_o that's fattening >< :3 thanks

  • @BumKpopluv76 FYI, the text recipes can be found by clicking on the "show more" tab under the video. This recipe calls for 16 tablespoons of butter. You can find a grams to converter online.

  • For the amount of butter, how many grams of butter? also, can I replace baking soda and cream of tartar = 2 tsp of baking powder?

  • Comment removed

  • i was thinking more like, sugar, eggs, flour, butter, MIX, Cook, Serve

  • how many grams is 1 cup of butter?

  • Dammit I want cookies!!! but i don't want to bake :( lol

  • looks so tasty!!!!

  • I just made this and they turned out amaaazzing! My brother got addicted to it :-)

  • umm i made this recipe and i used the exact measurments and ingredients i did it by hand when it came 2 the dough (adding the wet to dry ingredents it become flaky and dry so i added some milk it became good when i took it out of the oven i tryed it it tasted fairly good but they were flakey and dry.....What did i do wrong?????

  • @izzythedancer The key here is that you made it by hand -- the standing mixer will mix more aggressively and better incorporate the ingredients. Do you have a hand held mixer? If not, you can still use your hands just keep on beating until the mixture holds up. They cookies are a bit crumbly, as they are sugar cookies, but they should still hold a shape. Definitely try beating longer if you're beating by hand and see if that helps.

  • umm can i also admit the almond extract?

  • umm im not so sure bout the cream of tart can i omit it?

  • does it matter wat kind of sugar you use or does it have to be conventional sugar and how much are vanilla extract, almin extract, cream of tarter

  • @nyballer516 It should be conventional sugar. You can find all of the flavorings at your local grocery store. They are common items.

  • HI.. FOR THE 3 CUPS OF ALL PURPOSE FLOUR IS EQUAL TO HOW MANY GRAMS?

IF NOT, CAN USE A NORMAL CUP?

  • @GuiLongg1840 It is important to use exact amounts when baking.

    Here is a conversion Chart:

    Bread Flour Cups Grams Ounces

    1/4 cup 34 g 1.2 oz

    1/3 cup 45 g 1.6 oz

    1/2 cup 68 g 2.4 oz

    1 cup 136 g 4.8 oz

  • The 12 people who disliked this can't hear properly and messed up the recipe.

  • I...I actually made cookies that taste fine. I'm 12 and I can't believe it. Its the first time I've deliberately made good tasting cookies. I had once made cookies that I didn't think would taste nice they turned out fine by accident. But this time I knew they would turn out good, AND THEY DID!

  • @biteapple1999 Congratulations Bite Apple! Don't stop now, keep on baking and please let us know when you use our recipes...we have many to try. You can visit our menu page at holidaykitchen.tv

  • @holidaykitchen thank you. I made a jar full of sugar cookies.

  • i did it..... can't believe i could do it

  • thanks for the video :) i gone try make this

  • What can I use in replacement for cream of tartar I don't have that?

& how u make color for the sugar use food coloring or something?

  • Yes. It is very powder-like.

  • Is confectioners and icing sugar a same thing ? ? ? ? ?

  • @NIgXiaMyD yeah. they just call it confectionery sugar in America.

  • Do u ave to use vanilla???

  • 48-60 cookies?!!?! for real?

  • I just made a batch of heart shaped cookies with red sugar on top for my daughter's class Valentine celebration - they turned out delicious! I am a novice baker and I was very impressed by the ease of making these. This recipe is a keeper! Thank you for sharing!

  • it helps the dough to firm up before baking....... and helps to keep shape and rise properly

  • the recipe me and my sister followed called for just the egg yolks, the cookies came out really well

  • must you use powdered sugar?

  • i am.......COOKIE MONSTER!!!!!!

  • omg i love this cookies

  • Of course! My mother used a wooden spoon.

  • ...can i make this without the mixing technology?

  • @d33pthought

I believe so. ;) I just mixed them together without the machine and it didn't come out good, so I add in another egg and half a cup of water . It still taste sweet, though for further outcome, I'm not so sure. but you should try it out now and see if you like the result or not.

  • @d33pthought No you need an electric whisk

  • @positivelypurpleful

Mine are never hard.. its the buttermilk and powder sugar keeps them soft..

  • you refridgrate the dough so it is easy to handle..

  • why vanilla and all that. just get the basics and add sugar

  • oh my god ill be running up the walls

  • wats cream of tartar? jaja

  • awsome

  • Sugar cookies are my favorite cookies, I can't get enough of them.

  • When I make normal cookies they end up like sugar cookies, but when i make sugar cookies they end up like normal cookies. What am I doing wrong?

  • You should always keep it the same pattern and shape that you cut out the cookies.

if they are all different, they could cook differently and some might over bake, others might under bake,

  • @XxToxicCraziixX thanks for the tip. now i wont mess up :)

  • HELP! my cookie dough mix came too liiquid :( what should i doo?? i cant rool them into balls :s

  • @kprv12 Maybe put some more flour..im not sure..but probably

  • Its called a Stand Mixer. Kitchen Aid makes the best one. It will last for 50 years.

  • what is the name of the auto blend machine used in this vedio ?

    anyone has any idea?

  • Wow, they look perfect! (=

  • this recipe is PERFECT and it taste amazing

  • omg !! my mom sugar cookies everyday. there better if you put little steak pieces on top of the cookie. would that be better?

  • it would have been better if she broke it in half, i wanted 2 c if their soft on the inside.

  • How can you keep cookies nice and soft??

Mine always burn cuz i think they're still half raw when they're fully baked...

    -_- im such a failure:(

    SOMEONE HELP ME PLZZZ!!!!!

  • i only need one dozen!

  • sounds YUMMY!

  • yuck! too sweet

  • Please don't swear. Why are visiting these beautiful pages?

  • they look so chubby and yummy :D

  • looks yummy , i buy the dough i dont make it cuz i might mess up

  • Why would you need to preheat the oven to 375 degrees in the beginning if you have to refridgerate the dough for 30 minutes? =P

  • @KhMErTRiAd Well, your oven still needs to be preheated sometime. When you do it (before or after refrigeration) is up to you.

  • Preheating it before refrigeration would be a complete waste of electricty.

  • @KhMErTRiAd Depends on your oven. If it loses heat fast, yes. If it can take it up to a point and just keep the heat in, no.

  • They never said to turn off the oven in the video. Preheating it the whole time of making the cookies would be a waste.

  • @Maholain do u have to use almin extract because in some videos they dont use them??

  • @nyballer516 It's just for flavour.

  • Oh you minx!

  • @KhMErTRiAd ... ur refridgerating HALF of it for 30 mins.....

  • @Dollygirl12345 You're refrigerating BOTH halves. Smart kid...

  • @KhMErTRiAd No, your not. "smart kid"

"Divide the dough into half and cover. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. You need to refrigerate it so when cutting it it wouldnt tear. its like "gaining strength" Dough style. the other half will be automatically cut and put in. Once those are done.. let cool and get the other half and repeat.

  • @Dollygirl12345 Nice attempt at looking smart. It says to split it in half and refrigerate both halves. This cools it down faster and allows you to store away one half if you don't want to make too many cookies. You refrigerate it so it won't tear. Why would you use the unrefrigerated portion if it will tear? Also why would the video show both dough halves on top of plastic wrap ready to be wrapped and stored in the fridge? Common sense... something you don't have.

  • @KhMErTRiAd Nice to try to make yourself look badass.

No it doesnt show both halves refrigerated.

  • @Dollygirl12345 and KhMErTRiAd. how can u 2 argue over a cookie recipe. they are cookies they r supposed to be happy. i guess people can argue over anything...

  • @KhMErTRiAd lmao i didnt catch that

  • @KhMErTRiAd so the dough stays together silly ;p. if you leave it at a normal temp its harder to work with

  • @kittylovespenguin my point is that you end up leaving the oven preheating for 30+ minutes

  • @KhMErTRiAd they cool it to make the dough easier to roll but you don't have to cool it

  • @KhMErTRiAd good point. :P

  • everybody if you dont use cream of tartar then it will taste like cornbread

  • i stink at this it was all crummy man i really suck at this

  • I just baked some sugar cookies and they taste really bad T-T they formed together in the oven so it looked like a really thin cake...

next time i'll use this recipe =3

  • yay~! I made this today for my friend's birthday and everybody loves it! ^^ It's also my very fist time baking. Thanks heaps~

ps. I didn't use almond extract or cream of tarter, and the sugar I used was just plain white sugar.

  • do you have to use coloured sugar or can you use white sugar

  • This video looks really choppy!

  • Yay. I just made these and they are Luh dish! and I didnt use cream of tarter or almond extract.

  • what is confectioner sugar? can i just use regular sugar? do i have to use cream of tarter and almond extract? reply back ty!

  • confectioner's sugar is just another name for powdered sugar.

  • do you really need to add cream of tarder and almond extract

  • What if I used baking soda?!!!

  • what liquid were u pouring?

  • I'll make them for Christmas eve. I've made these before and they're great. I know my relatives will love them. It's better than any recipe I've ever tried.

  • Comment removed

  • Omg thank you! I did it and it tasted yummmmmmm aliouios!

  • OMG im AM gonna make um thxx

    xxx

  • I'm gonna make these cookies for a Christmas Party!

  • my mom used to use a straw and poke holes in the top so that you could pull like balloon string through it and then she'd put them on the x-mas tree

    they quickly disappear though ;-)

  • Please check store bought Sugar Cookies, No sugar or very little, the rest is?

Well It's time for you to look, Don't you see it the Phony adds they put in, Forms of MSG, to make you like it!

And Don't buy conf, sugar, make your own, put regular sugar in a blender, Thats all they do, 5lbs Sugar 2.00 1,lb Conf Sugar 6.00 do the math

    Add 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • um... icing sugar is more expensive per kilogram because it is lighter.

  • lol u could bake or buy at comissary.. just for $2? i thnk or more.. idk wat it costs..

  • can you use the base as a recipe for chocolate chip cookies?

  • no not really because this has some extra ingredients.

  • why dont you look up how to make chocolate chip cookies???????!

  • they're really yummy but i dont make them much because there is too much butter

  • i will try to make them ^-^

  • where can u get the coloured sugar???

  • You can just put food coloring into white sugar.

  • its granulated sugar with a drop of foodcoloring. hope i helped

  • you can get it at any grocery store pretty much

  • whats cream of tarter?

  • well you dont really need cream of tarter. Its just for all the ingerdiets to stick together

  • yesterday i made sugar cookies they came out soft the for the first time :)

  • do you have to add those extract thing ingredients ? or are they just for the cookies to smell good?

  • the vanilla extract and almond extract improves the taste. Its good to have at least teh vanilla extract.

  • is that 1 and 1/2 cup of suger or 1/2 cup of suger

  • mmm pastry! (5 stars for my favourite food type!)

  • my brothers wife just made sugar cookies

  • which were the ingredients?

  • I love making sugar cookies but they always come out to hard and they don't even taste sugary and then noboby eats them it makes me sad :(

  • haha for you it happens to me 2 everyone says its gross T.T

  • @LittleYorky lol.. i need to make cookies for my bake sale at my high school but i think imma just buy the dough from jewel lol

  • @LittleYorky awwwww I would eat your cookies xD

  • @LittleYorky Awwww :(

Use a little bit of Baking Powder to make it light and fluffy and put some more sugar to make it YUMMY. I hope they eat it!

  • @LittleYorky i know its sad when u make something and nobody eats it because it tastes bad (i made cookies D: ).

  • my sugar cookie dough is very hard to work with, it usually breaks when I am using the cookie cutters...why is that?

  • I have an idea! Just go to the market and Buy some Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix and you wont have to use so many ingredients! with the mix u just add some margarine or butter(softned not melted) and one egg then mix and roll dough and cut with cookie cutter and bake 7 - 9 minutes! ^.^

  • yep those are good but if you have alot of company they go by fast. the tubed ones in the freezer ile are also good, you just haft to roll them into small circles or use cookie cutters and bake them.

  • I love this recipe, BUT, my cookies all expanded and lost their shape!!!!!!!! Can someone shed some light on how to avoid that???? The video asked for confectioner sugar which is the same as icing sugar....I think????? Any advice, would be great!!

  • confectioner sugar is just like the sugar on powdered dougnuts

  • sry i cant help u on the expanding part of the cookies it happens to me too.

powdered sugar, icing sugar, and confectioner sugar are all the same thing.

  • Why did my doh turn out crumbly??? T-T i used powered sugar btw not normal sugar

  • because powdered sugar acts more like flour instead of like a liquid like granulated sugar. but if all you have is powdered sugar you could try a nice shortbread cookie recipe! (^_^)

  • pretty good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can you put chocolate chips in the dough and then drop the cookies on a cookie sheet?

  • wow. i love the music it's so calming it reminds me of when i was holidaying in florida...so peaceful x)

i haven't done much baking, but in australia is there such thing as confectionary sugar....my friend bakes a lot even she doesn't know what it is o-o
