personally, i liked the movie but thought it could have been WAY better, i mean not only was the book amazing, but they had an amazing cast to work with, Ewan Mcgregor, Alicia Silverstone, Mickey Rourke, it could have been great, but the special effects were mediocre and the if they had used more script from the actual book, it would have been a better script as well, but love the books and the song :)

sabina is alexs friend from school. so reasonably they needed to release some parts before they were there in the books. just to be sure they captivated interest in the first one in order to supspend something in a sequel.
