  • This Version of How Can I Be Sure.

Reminds Me Of So Many Images

Leading Up to My Sister's Passing.

And A Really Bad Image and Dream

    Involving My Enviornment.

  • she is the perfect woman

  • pure vocal soul genius, only white from britian that got near to aretha,

  • i love her hand gestures as well as her voice.

  • Cover of Rascals song which could have been written for Dusty.... A beautiful sensitive version of the song.....so good live......I don't think Dusty ever realised how great she was live......She was so obsessed with perfection and Getting It Right like that wonderful song from the 1989 film.....You're made of love.....Hey it's all right someone understands.....reach out take a hand....You'll know that your getting it right.....

  • what a voice!

  • gawd what a voice that woman had...good heavens. Rest in peace Mary O'Brien...you had one of the most soulful voices I've ever heard.

  • i never heard this version

  • At the time, I was so caught up in my beloved Rolling Stones to realise how good Dusty was. Like the Stones, she too was part of the British invasion of the 60's. She was the origial blue-eyed soul songstress, and she broke new ground in the world of pop music. She was an amazing talent.

  • Love Her :) xxx

  • TILL WE MEET AGAIN X

  • I LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL SINGER, I LOVE BRITISH MUSIC (THE BEST FOR ME), I LOVE ENGLAND, i`am from Lima-Perú.

  • This is such a wonderful song!! She does every song so perfectly!! Husky beautiful voice!! Miss u and thanks!

  • This great lady is the personification of all the good times, nostalgia, talent & perfection of not only her era but an inspiration for us all. Before her was nothing because Dusty was not there, the past that had her,had their own heaven & we now still have that heaven through seeing her & listening to her now & the future like us now & before will marvel at her looks & voice, hair & clothes.100% all the way.RIP angel

  • she is amazing!

  • @samnyc2 Well I wouldnt compare Mariah Carey and Dusty Springfield because Dusty is more class and had better vocals than Mariah. Mariah Carey is ok but not my type of singer.

  • Classy

  • geez, what a beautiful, sexy WOMAN.

  • Dusty's voice and sensibility, are some of reasons that make me happy to have

been born, during those wonderful years.of creativity when music was a way

of expressing the feelings of a greater generation.

  • SHE HAS THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL

  • Dusty shows how flexible this song is. That there is more than this version confirms the quality of it.

  • such an elegant woman. Now i get women singers who dress up a bunch of tarts. E.g. Miley Cyrus, Beyone, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and so on.

  • and Mariah.... she used to be so sweet. @19GirlBad

  • the best of the sixties and she would still be the one to beat today. they never will though she was the best ever.

  • Great song and Dusty puts her own signature on it, she was great,,,,

  • my favorite version of this song.

  • Love Dusty but the best version of this song is the original by the Young Rascals. Do look for it, its just been added on youtube!

  • @psirou Just listened to the Rascals version as i`d never heard it before and i agree with you, Dusty`s version is class but the Rascals is slightly better. It has a bit more edge. Thanks for mentioning it as i`m now going to buy it. Cheers.

  • @acidhouse100 Don't mention it! :-)

  • She's just so wonderful! You want to envy her, but you can't because she has so much charisma and she's just so charming.

  • ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER

  • She IS so Amazing that it makes me realize how much I miss her....

God bless you Dusty.... You'll never be forgotten....

    All my love,

    Anthony

  • if satin had a sound.......

  • I love these videos! Brings back a lot of memoriesI found a 60's set that seems really cool - it has Dusty Springfield, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Herman's Hermits and Small Faces - reelinintheyears(dot)com/britishinvasion

  • Best female pop artist of all time, i just love Dusty Springfield !!

    5 stars *****

  • Dusty is simply the best...........

  • best female voice England ever produced sad she never got the credit she was due.

  • @paulspalace

Oh I think she did get the credit she was due...true she went out of fashion for a while but thank christ for Youtube that we can, at last, see and hear all this stuff

  • you all use to much words for dusty thera are no words needed only ears!!!!

  • One of the greatest songs ever written without a doubt! Thanks so much for the post!

  • This has to be the definitive version of this song, if only for that second "know" at 1:44. Fab !!

  • Everything she sang was magic. R.I.P Dusty.

  • Wow is this great!!!!! Great song, great voice, great performance. Wow was she awesome.

  • Why dont more girls not try to learn from this generation of girl singers. most are just screamers or dancers

  • I agree.

All the girl singers look the same today.

My god I am sounding like my dad!!

    (O:

  • great video...great voice...a time when female singers used their voices to win fans over and not dancing all over the place with their boobs hanging out.

  • Dusty is the most soulful white singer I have ever heard.

  • very distinctive voice

  • love this !!!!

  • still have goosebumps every time i hear your fantastic voice!you could sing the dictionary! miss u always and forever.....

  • @frankyagogo nice comment,same here.

  • the sad thing is today she'd be considered "fat" and no one would care... Dusty was awesome. Totally awesome.

  • the best version ever of this song...dusty at her best

  • I loved this song for years, still great.

  • My best friend loves this song, and I'm addicted to it.

  • Even though I prefer the original version by The Young Rascals, the late great Dusty Springfield gives a very enjoyable rendition here. She was a unique talent, that's for sure! Thanks for sharing this memorable clip with us! :)

  • Is it just me or does anyone else think that this particular song has a "french" feel to it? Perhaps it's the accordion in the background?

  • The song does have that "French" feeling because of the squeezbox--this arrangement is close but not identical to the one used on the Young Rascals recording of the same song. Mind you, none of them had pipes like Ms. Springfield . . .

  • Shelby Lynne's Dustry tribute album is stunning incl her cover of this song.

  • classic song from a classic lady, love it,

  • This version is far better than any other.

  • David Cassidy! Pleeeeese, I wouldn't EVEN want to hear him ruin this Dusty song! This is the REAL lady! RIP Dusty, I miss you!

    JS

  • Such a great singer. I know that if I were young in the 60's I would have had such a crush on Dusty Springfield. Great voice, soul, sense of humor, and very attractive.

  • You learn something everyday i did not know that she sung this i always thought that David Cassidy was the original singer of this song.

  • No! This song was by the Young Rascals. David Cassidy did it later.

  • Gosh i love this song!!!! Dusty really brought it up to a new level; what emotion, what confidence... Miss you dam much dusty...

  • JBTevere; sunflowermother; oceanbound222 - the story of her arm movements direct from Dustys mouth. She tells it on WLOS bio.......when she was with with The Springfields she was hemmed in between her brother and the other guy and had to keep them by her side. When she went solo she found she had a new found freedom to flap her arms about.....and thus she made the most of it. In her goonish sense of humour she said it made her look like she was swatting flies. She is iabsolutely ncomparable!

  • @woody7075 that's interesting because I heard another story. On a documentary about Dusty, Lulu said the way she started doing the arm moves is because she would forget the lyrics to her songs so she wrote them on her arms and was always moving her arms up so she could she what was written and from there it just became her thing that she always did. I have a feeling Dusty's answer is more the truth.

  • Dusty was an original, what a voice!, she can handle any song.

  • great performance, i still prefer the original

(young rascals) version , yet this is

a very enjoyable footage , thanx a lot

  • I strongly recommend people get hold of Dusty's original recording of this song. Her sense of nuance and controlled emotion leaves me in no doubt she is the finest female singer of the 20th Century.

  • for what it's worth, I agree 100%.

    she was the best, ever.

  • And as at 2009, the finest female voice/singer of the 20th and the 21st century

  • It wouldn't and couldn't be Dusty without her arm movements! She punctuates her songs perfectly with her gestures. Graceful forever.

  • I prefer her rendition by faaar, not to say the others are rubbish though

  • What a voice...her soft touching voice just makesme fly and dream..God bless you Dusty.

  • The lady is a goddess and will never be equalled for her voice.

  • Response to oceanbound222 Dusty's arm movements are something that is a kind of trademark of hers. I love how she performed. To me it's another way that showed her emotion & how deeply she felt when she sang. Also, a bit of trivia..there's another singer that said Dusty moved her arms because she put some lyrics on them in case she forgot any. I would never know. Dusty was the best and always will be. Thanks for giving so much of yourself to us through your talent. God Bless You Dusty! RIP. *)*

  • Thank you for posting the classic Dusty Springfield! I grew up listening to her music(I had an older sister who adored her) and hearing her lovely voice and seeing her great style brings back some wonderful memories. She left us much too soon.

  • Wonderful song given the full Dusty treatment.

Nobody did or will do it better.

  • OMG- you hate on Dusty Springfield TOO? It's not just Diana Ross? Look, Dusty Springfield was one of the most distinct vocal talents of the 2nd half of the 20th century. Those "arm gestures" were a trademark- as much a part of the show as Tina Turner's legs. And the vocal performance i just heard was NOT hindered in any way.

    This woman was brilliant...

  • @mnmcv1 Preach it baby! you nailed it on every account. Dusty is and forever will be one of the premiere vocalists of all times. A one of a kind and doubtlessly brilliant.

  • If the arm gestures bother you, oceanbound222, then just shut your eyes and listen. Sheesh! How could anything distract you from that incredible voice?
