Wow - watching this brought back bizarre memories of my amiga filled youth. The smell of our computer room actually came back to me. Aaaahhhh.... good days. My friends were so damn jealous of my Amiga. At first I didn't want it when my parents said they were getting them one - I actually tried to talk them into getting a Commodore64! But it was secretly only because I wanted to borrow games off my friends. But then once we got the amiga it was like totally kick ass.
I really enjoyed this game, very immersive. The deaths of comrades were heart-felt. The triumphs of landing a crippled plane, stuck in a slow spin, slowly rotating right, needing full stick left, dodging trees, engine almost out...in a slow roll, timing it to land juuust right, and making it. My friends laughing and clapping in disbelief when it was a good landing. Weeks of fun.
game developers due to lack of computing power and ram and storage space were geniuses back then. this game was on the amiga 500 0.5 chip ram 68000 processor and was with 2 880kb floppy disks... todays game designers have 3ghz quad core procesors 5gb ram and hundres of GB storage and powerfull 3d accelaratos... but they cant create so addictive games anymore. the ony todays games i spend more that 1 hour are strategy games. all the other games i get bored after 1 or 2 weeks.
i was only 10 when i played this. never made it right through tho. was too hard once i got up to the triplanes. i still have the game but no computer :(
i learned more about WW1 from this game than any other, awesome game, awesome story, amazing graphics, i remember when i first got shot in the head, epic days.
awesome!!! one of my absolute fav-games on amiga. the athmosphaeric densitiy of that game was so amazing.. i was (as a 16 year old), part of the german airkorps in WWI, so intense the playing acd character-developing was!
great upload syntacus..
just to mention: the plan a new wwI-airwar-game for pc.. lets see how it is comparing to this treasure!!
I agree completely..... the music, the storytelling and the brutal deaths, it really showed me how hard life was during war (especially back then) and how easy it is to end up under the ground....
That's EXACTLY the feeling that i'm looking for when i'm watching a war movie or playing a war game.
Best WW1 flight simulator ... the gameplay was amazing and the athmosphere unmatched !!! Why don't they do games like that anymore?? Red BAron e.g IS crap compared to this beautxy!!
Sorry, but Red Baron was definitely not crap. Flying side by side with aces, seeing them fight according to their own personal style in their custom-painted biplane made you feel you had travelled back in time.
Flight sims were easier because the computers were too weak and couldn't model the correct physics. Most of them wouldn't classify as flight sims by today's standards, but they were top for their time.
However, stuff like Ace combat and Hawx are arcade-sim hybrids and not real simulators
this game was brill,i played it to death at the time.A modern re make would be great.Imagine this game with no disk swapping and ace combat 6 standard graphics.
E' vero, era veramente un gran bel gioco. Mi capita spesso di parlare con i miei amici di videogames in generale, e questo lo cito sempre come esempio di gioco fatto bene. Cazzo.
One of the best flight sim ever! Not that intro part but the fading intros between missions were great. An atmosphere that u can't find in nowaday's games.

Back in 1985 I played this game until my hands bled.
This and It Came From The Desert took up a lot of valuable time and they were as addictive as Crack.

One of the best videogame that i never play in ALL MY LIFE with F/A 18 Interceptor and Another World.
I cry for this game... it was really drammatic.
In this game i remember the bad sensation about the war.

P.S. Sto gioco dava veramente la sensazione di tristezza della guerra cavolo..

Non li fanno più così curati.
Contando il contesto temporale, ovviamente.

Agreed, this game actually taught you something about history and made it bloody well interesting too, kids actually reading about history for fun!
Cinemaware just had a love for filmic atmosphere you don't get these days, the creativity has all gone.
