That should be a good reason not to vote for Obama, even if he is a nice person; the company he keeps means more to me than anything else. That said, are McCain's and Clinton's company better? Absolutely not. We're screwed no matter what. Might as well vote for the nice guy/gal: Obama.

I think the word "Marxist" and "Socialist" are thrown around too liberally. There is a tendency to call all liberals Marxists and Socialists when more often than not the Marxist/Socialist ideology only contribute to American Liberal thought without dominating it.
