While talking about the indicator stalk, she omitted the brilliant small-push-for-3-blinks indicator function. I think this function should be made standard on all cars....it's so useful!!!
nice advertising for the Golf GTI with the Girl but after the 20 000 km your 2011 GTI will be same 1980 Golf and many sounds u will hear if u ask the company what is this they will tell u its normal and i face this problem until now they cannot solve Volkswagen GOLF gti or R32 or the new R i can compare with suzuki Brand not more ;)

just got my new gti. I actually wasn´t planning on buying it, in fact i was looking at the 328 bmw sedan, and i loved it.. an amazing car! But then my friend told me about the GTI and that i should take a look at it.. and yeah i changed my mind. It is an incredible car, the DSG gearbox is great, and the handling+feeling is just amazing. The gear paddles react a little too slow in my opinion.. but it´s still alot of fun to drive it ! in addition it costs less than the BMW. A good buy :)

@Highschoolkid2 good choice! When my dad went to get his 328xi there was a mk6 gti one of the computer tech's at the dealership owned. It was stage 3 apr with a billyboad turbo back, and h&r springs. The car was super fun but just not something my dad wanted which is understandable. I wanted to trade in my a4 so bad for that!

my only complaint that i have about this car is the six speed manual is quite crude compared to hondas . other than that i've done 300 miles at a pop in this car its very quiet, handles well and extremely well finished. in other words when buying get the dsg. However, contrary to what the lady is saying the brakes are a wee bit undersized. day to day they're fine but i have a feeling on track days or hard driving you're going to warp them.

It's nice to see women reviewing cars, since women buy cars, it's nice to get a different perspective than "OMG THIS GOES SO FAST and you can whip around corners really quickly, and modify it to have lots of horsepower to make more noise to impress women!!!" .. this car is not a great value, for $26k you can get the camry se v6, that thing has more interior space, larger trunk, and it has 268hp compared to the gti's whopping 200hp lol also I've heard people complain about interior road noise in this car. Also this car looks like a minivan from the rear :/ it's a good idea, but I don't even see these on the road anymore...you can get an altima/accord coupe, camry, focus st, mazdaspeed 3, and even the wrx is cheaper and will kill this.
This machine has really nice car handles! But it has 658 stock horsepower not 200:) you can tell because she was probably going 250 mph. Idk hard to tell exactly

Word of resistance - these are not "bucket seats" merely - sporty seats, done by recaro. The stupid badge on the rear is a totally idiotic solution for real people who have to use the car in the winter too. The esp system is very faulty and the clutch on that car is weak. But - and there always is - the engine and the overall functionality is just great - with a little help this engine will have 250HP and make the car a lot faster.

I bought a 2010 Golf. I have taken it to the dealer for excessive interior rattles and windshield noise. They don't seem to want to go away. Think twice before buying one of these because crap like this will drive you nuts.
@ghtriumph that's what everyone says, vw doesn't seem to care about the interior as long as it looks nice. stick with japanese cars, as those are the best for the money ($20-$30k).
Sadly, this review proves that VW has engineered their new cars to pander to women. In the Mark IVs and later, the controls are way too light and the steering is far too numb. The Mark IIIs had epic steering feedback and very nice control weighting. She's right about the gear selector, but everything else is too candy assed.
Improper control weighting is a problem with the entire automotive industry. In some Japanese cars, you can actuate the controls by breathing on them.
@mrgamer323 i would say hell yea just get the 5 door to please the wife. it gets 31 mpg and this is rly one sweet ride. i personally recommend the manual but im a purist. it does come with a super quick dsg though if your into that.

That was my other option before purchasing the 2011 GTI 6mt, I was impressed with the WRX, but lacks on the interior design and driving refinement (my personal view), the WRX rides very well and handling is fine, but the GTI felt more secure and is easier to toss around. Nobody can't go wrong with either, GTI or WRX, personal preference, not everything is raw numbers and HP.
Drove both the 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 and GTI today back to back and I would chose the GTI. Better ride, clutch, shifting, quieter and more refined all around. I would give up the 63 extra HP for all of this.
You can hear her start to laugh when she pops the hood to show the "filthy" engine! (as if they did it as a joke on her)

VW rated their GTI at the wheel, Mazda rated their speed3 at the crank. GTI has 200whp(per insideline), Mazda 3 had 170hp at the crank(150whp).

@EliteRide1987 How do you properly clean an engine? Do you just get a water hose and spray it everywhere and clean it? or is there a certain cleanser you need to buy? I have a 2009 Ford Focus SE 4-door sedan. Therefore I don't have a pretty cover over my engine, It's just bare and ugly lol

Word of resistance - these are not "bucket seats" merely - sporty seats, done by recaro. The stupid badge on the rear is a totally idiotic solution for real people who have to use the car in the winter too. The esp system is very faulty and the clutch on that car is weak. But - and there always is - the engine and the overall functionality is just great - with a little help this engine will have 250HP and make the car a lot faster.

@michaelmike121 That's because the focus rs is a pimped factory ride and the civic is a family wagon. whoever tries to get any power out of any standard civic is a retard. that said, the civic type R might have a chance against your ride.

I bought a 2010 Golf. I have taken it to the dealer for excessive interior rattles and windshield noise. They don't seem to want to go away. Think twice before buying one of these because crap like this will drive you nuts.

@ghtriumph that's what everyone says, vw doesn't seem to care about the interior as long as it looks nice. stick with japanese cars, as those are the best for the money ($20-$30k).

Sadly, this review proves that VW has engineered their new cars to pander to women. In the Mark IVs and later, the controls are way too light and the steering is far too numb. The Mark IIIs had epic steering feedback and very nice control weighting. She's right about the gear selector, but everything else is too candy assed.
Improper control weighting is a problem with the entire automotive industry. In some Japanese cars, you can actuate the controls by breathing on them.

@mrgamer323 i would say hell yea just get the 5 door to please the wife. it gets 31 mpg and this is rly one sweet ride. i personally recommend the manual but im a purist. it does come with a super quick dsg though if your into that.

That was my other option before purchasing the 2011 GTI 6mt, I was impressed with the WRX, but lacks on the interior design and driving refinement (my personal view), the WRX rides very well and handling is fine, but the GTI felt more secure and is easier to toss around. Nobody can't go wrong with either, GTI or WRX, personal preference, not everything is raw numbers and HP.

Drove both the 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 and GTI today back to back and I would chose the GTI. Better ride, clutch, shifting, quieter and more refined all around. I would give up the 63 extra HP for all of this.
