It's sung by a man who helped his girlfriend get an abortion and how every year at that child's birthday, he thinks about how much he regrets that decision. (In your case, I can't say you were wrong for aborting the baby necessarily if it was going to die anyways, but in other people's cases, many times, it is not like that).

And no, I have not had an abortion, but I know someone who has had two of them in her lifetime and she has not made a wise choice since then. You should read the interesting article in Free Inquiry, June 2006. If you define a fetus as being a PERSON at the time of conception (you probably do), you just opened up a huge can of worms for yourself. Did you know a parent cannot be compelled by law to provide a life-saving transfusion (or whatever) to save their own child's life? It's a question of CONSENT. If the fetus is deemed as much of a person as a born person, it has no legal claim on its mother's blood.
....or putting it another way: a 3-year-old child that can only be saved by some substance in its own mother's body (say both have a rare blood type) has no legal claim on the mother's person, has no grounds for demanding her cooperation in offering up her blood. The mother is not obligated and can refuse. If a fetus is deemed to be on equal footing legally with a born child, it has no more legal right to make that demand than the born child does.

If someone is diagnosed with cancer, should we rip off their limbs, as they tell you to stop, and that they wan't to live? Because the person is in pain right? @crazyability Yes, that may happen during late-term abortinos, when the mother's life is at risk. Termination of the baby to save the mother's life is necessary.
If you're arguing that women should die to give birth, then I have to ask: who the fuck are you? Why should you decide whether someone lives or dies for them? The mother should decide whether she wants to abort the thing inside her to live or not.

Details my wife & I both cried through. But that pain -- as awful as it was -- was not going to be as bad as giving birth to a dead baby. Our baby was not going to have a bladder, kidneys, anus, etc. She was missing body parts necessary to live. There was no chance she'd survive. So don't talk to me about "intrinsic evil." You should read the interesting article in Free Inquiry, June 2006. If you define a fetus as being a PERSON at the time of conception (you probably do), you just opened up a huge can of worms for yourself. Did you know a parent cannot be compelled by law to provide a life-saving transfusion (or whatever) to save their own child's life? It's a question of CONSENT. If the fetus is deemed as much of a person as a born person, it has no legal claim on its mother's blood.

....or putting it another way: a 3-year-old child that can only be saved by some substance in its own mother's body (say both have a rare blood type) has no legal claim on the mother's person, has no grounds for demanding her cooperation in offering up her blood. The mother is not obligated and can refuse. If a fetus is deemed to be on equal footing legally with a born child, it has no more legal right to make that demand than the born child does.
