Learn how the trick is done I will give only one tip He uses the Ten Kai Palm maybe misspelled and I am not going to divulge the real trick but the card is not on the table at all for the person to find until the very end . Cant say anymore , he is not using random cards at all ( Misdirection ) and there is a special ending Period . Just learn that palm and you will figure it out . Bill Malone couldn't come near Slydini .LEARN THE PALM
At 5:17 he is placing the card and it is easy to spot if you place your mouse cursor on the left end of the card :). While he removes his hand there is additional card on the left. BUT it is still very risky to allow the guy to check random cards.
@HypnoticPhantom He was the Master of course he new his actions better than you, But there are so many Magicians doing his Tricks and love to see them , They Probably never saw Slydini but Some Posters are Masters also and should not Imitate his accent and do the trick their way. I lived near him but when I was in my 20's I wasn't into Magic, Music Played with Muddy Waters but I got Shot into Magic , You can't the Imitate Masters! But you can Do their tricks to Lay People Your way and Look Good.
Slydini is a master He does a lot of Lapping and his misdirection is Fantastic you'll look one way while he does his thing. Slydini was doing something at The Magic Castle and he walked in , the place in a big hub bub, he asked this young kid what the commotion was and the boy said slydini is going to be here to day , no one was paying attention , he asked the boy if he liked him ? the boy said he loved him by that time hundreds were gathered , he is so subtle did a coin routine for the boy ...
I am a Slydini lover Just his broken English is so good, A Magicians magician. I picked up balls over head , silks , having a time with the Helicopter, Lots of practice , Know the sleight but he is so good at it., lots of sleights and almost NO gimmicks. I watch him 3 to 4 times a week Just to watch him. I have a friend who used to have lunch every Saturday with Slydini, Howard Schwartzman one of the presidents of S.A.M he did some easy amazing magic . I wish i could get teaching D/v/D on him.
@youngmagician12 yes there is a set of books that shows all of sylidinis stuff. expensive but very well done. its almost like a comic strip of pictures explaning every move , there is several volumes. I have the collection in my attic, Im sure you can find them or order them online. I bought mine back in the 80s.
@sanvert Sorry, aber wenn Du Slydini gekannt hättest bzw. mehr über Ihn wüsstest, würdest Du verstehen, dass er genug Charme hatte um mit allem durchzukommen.
When I was 12, (52 years ago), J.B.Bobo taught me that magic was simply acting - pretending to do one thing while actually doing something else. I was astonished by how simple a slight could be if the acting was absolutely convincing. More than anything, great magicians are great actors. Slydini suavely gets away with a bold swindle here. Others have done this routine since, but it was Slydini who had the audacity to imagine that it COULD be done.
I agree with you. Slydini was a genius, no doubt, a master of misdirection and sleight-of-hand. But I don´t like his attitude towards spectators and his 'catch me if you can'-challenge approach.
Magic should entertain the spectator, not make him look bad. You can see the guy isn´t very comfortable.
In my mind, that should be the ultimate goal of magic....to entertain, but not at a spectator´s charge.
Some people might not like the patter, as he makes the spec feel stupid, or look stupid to others. I dont really feels this way, but if done by a lesser magician, he/she would be ripped for it.
Slydini was a magician's magician. If you can't appreciate it, there's plenty of tricks on youtube done with a fake thumb that you might be more inclined to enjoy.
@fknugly222 while i do agree with you, i feel like your selling the thumbtip short, nothing wrong with gimmicks, and the "fake thumb" you speak of is the most universally useful gimmick in magic, there are countless uses for it and it should not be insulted
Just Wow! So smoth, so natural, and a perfect technique. Wow!

Mentors of Doug Hennings of whom later Chris Angel, David Copperfield and David Blaine would inspire to become magicians.

I know how he does it!
He slips the card into his sleeve.
After the guy is done 'checking all the cards'
He points to a card and say check this 1 while doing so he slips the card out of his sleeve onto the pile.

@chattyw87 Please don't do that. This man was a true master and he would hate it if someone was revealing his secrets. Thanks :).

thats not the reason
the quality of a trick shouldnt be defined by its difficulty.
I just don't like the effect, its not that magical.,and the presantation is very confusing

It's a good trick to do to develop your misdirection skills. Most of Slydini's tricks will improve one of your skills in magic if you master it.

agreed
can t argue with that
