  • Can you loop it over and over please ?

  • The part at 0:13 is so cool. Best part of the song IMO.

  • the beginning sound just like it did in the original lol

  • Woah! Woah!

    Hold up!!

    Pokey isnt that slender

  • actually suffering all kinds of trama from being giygas's slave will do that to you lol

  • "So, isn't this terrifying?

    I'm terrified too."

    Great quote.

As far as videogames go, this is probably as close as they get to quality storyline as litterature.

And this is coming from freaking Nintendo, who writes the storyline during coffee breaks!

  • NIce. The only problem is with the transition back to 8 bit, just feels kind of out of place.

  • I agree, I don't really like the change at 50 seconds, either. :(

It would have been better if Nintendo just looped the first part in 16-bit form. ;)

  • Kinda orchestra would be nice!

  • Probably. :P

  • pokey looks like my friend John, surprisingly everyone in my class, including me, think he may be on a little on the evil side and one kid belives he has a small homemade Mani Mani statue in his room

    0_0

  • kll him now worry later

  • Holy shit dude....I'd ask if I could come over if i were you to see that!

  • Take a picture of him and put it up. I wanna see real life Pokey!!!

  • that cool whit "Pokey means business" its that its half 8-bit and half 16-bit!

  • 12 bit lol

  • 16-8=12

  • @MrFool59, that's 16-4, numb nuts, 16-8=8, if you used a calculator, it's fucked up.

  • cancer?

  • I completely disagree with the vidoe description comment.

The intro up til about 50 seconds is supposed to be reminiscent of Mother (Earthbound Zero...as its sometimes called) and the transistion is great. Not to mention, that the switch to hardcore electric guitar riffs really showed how much that Earthbound pushed the SNES' power, musically.

Same thing with Mother 3. Mother 3's soundtrack pushes the GBA far beyond the capabilities it has, musically.

  • You make a lot of sense. I'm gonna have to go and get Mother 1 now heh...

  • "The First Half of Pokey Means Business that sounds like an 8-bit song"? would actually be a good title for this video, haha. =P

  • EARTHBOUND CARTOON SERIES!

  • Lol i'd watch it.

  • SWEET DRAWING

  • I dispise pokey with a passion.... but his theme is good...

  • lolz my friend looks and acts like pokey and wishes to rule the world with a army of robotic versions of him self

  • Oh snaps xD Keep an eye on him :-P

(@ kingdehdehdeh my comments don't seem to function properly when replying)

  • you know he can always make a pigmask army in 200 years and make a city named after him in some way (if he can survive that long)

  • *cough* but why would that happen? >_>

  • Anyone with a brain and even a TINY bit of video game knowledge can tell that the first half of Pokey Means Business is purposely rendered to sound like an old 8-bit battle tune.

  • Oh, okay then, so Megaman 9's music isn't 8-bit even though it was designed like all the old chiptunes? Makes perfect sense, yes.

Your point is a false one, and besides, what do you want me to title it, "The First Half of Pokey Means Business that sounds like an 8-bit song"?

You're being ridiculous, and I'm afraid that there is no point in arguing further.

  • Lol, Mother title screen.

  • Woulda been more epic if you editted the rock part to have the same tune as the intro. @_@

  • We must fight !!! I challenge you, Pokey, to my PSI! PK Flash ω! Pokey was defeated!

I defeated the infamous villian! (PK Flash ω bounces off a mirror and hits him) Ahh, Dance Dance Revolution. (Falls asleep)

  • i wish i had a giant mechanical spider =(

  • pokey your face is terrifying! *SPOILER ALERT*

especially as an old distorted man :P

  • He did get fucked up pretty badly. That's what that asshole deserves though. Also, I seriously thik this song was good the WHOLE way through.

  • my favorite song ever. second only to daft punk - technological. btw, i agree. to 8-bitisize and 8-bit song makes it 16 bit.

  • have you noticed that in every Mother 3 game there is a name related to Nintendo,Like Ninten(do) (S)nes s, and yet to find out Mother 3's name...

  • And then....Lukas....

  • Ness' name was not done on purpose. Just a funny coincidence.

  • whoops i meat Mother, not Mother 3 at the start

  • can only wonder what lucas is for

  • Then that means if they make a wii game...

    Oh god no...

  • For a Wii Mother hero... I came up with Wiiliam.

  • lol, maybe its not true...

  • Thank you for taking the Rock part out. now all we need to do is finish up the song...maybe by putting the notes of the rock part in this style? I don't know, but the song feels unfinished, but at least it's much better.

  • dude this is more liek gigyas theme then pokey means buisness theme

  • The song was named Pokey Means Business, I'd assume this is because Giygas was inside of the Devil's Machine at this time, and because this is the only part of the fight with Pokey in it.

  • lol ur right just sometimes i dont pay attention *slaps self

  • There's a lot more to it, actually.

After the fight, you get insightful dialogue about how Pokey thinks Giygas is too crazy to handle his power. It appears Pokey was just using Giygas (as he used Monotoli and the Carpainter before that) to get power.

Basically, play Mother 3. That game ties everything off with a neat little bow.

  • Wait here he does not look fat.

  • " after 50 seconds or so it switches to a not-as-inspired hardcore.... not-very-good fest."

You're kidding? That's what makes the song so great to begin with. The switch is so unexpected and crazy.

  • Enemy humans under Giygas's influence have blue faces; I think a friendly mole says so somewhere.

Indeed. That also explains why the Happy Happyist Cult wanted to "paint the world blue".

  • yes, I think that it's the mole in Twoson that said that people of weird color are ennemies...

  • Enemy humans under Giygas's influence have blue faces; I think a friendly mole says so somewhere.

  • no he abused time travel and that's why he is blue

  • No, he couldn't be under Gyigas' influence, or he would have became "good" again once you defeated gyigas, I think his face is blue because it matches the pallete of the machine thingy, and his suit better then a normal skin tone would. By the way, I'm not saying that blue faces aren't influenced by Giygas, I'm just saying Pokey's isn't. He's his own evil. Also, wouldn't his face be blue on the world map too?

  • His face is blue because of sprite limitations. End of story.

  • Y is he blue?

  • He obviously doesn't breath

  • I have no idea i think be cause of the lighting in that cave where you fight gigas.

  • The time traveling caused his skin to change colors. No joke.

  • O Rlly? Kwl.

  • He abused time >.> durrr

  • time travel has messed him up

  • That, and being in the presence of Evil personified...

  • technically the first half is already 8-Bit

  • Yes, which is why I posted the first half under the name, "Pokey Means Business (8-bit)"

  • oh's kay

  • Isn't Pokey a bully in the series? I haven't played the game so much so I am lost.

  • not really a bully, more of an annoying neighbor/"friend" to ness

  • At first the "Comic relief" then the final boss =P.

  • Then the self proclaimed ruler of The mother world with a pig army, then stuck in a ASC, Absolute safe capsule....yep,

  • the ASC scewed him for life... oh wait... what life? HE'S IMMORTAL! XD

  • Malleo has awoken...

  • Pokey or Porky or whatever is a majorly underrated villian.

I mean can you think of a more dispicable, cheating, bastardly, Assinine jerk?

You just want to kill him at the end, and then he gets away!

    (sorry spelling)

  • Awesome drawing ya made there. Damn, I want that shirt.

  • i agree with you Zebesian04. i don't like the hardcore part. It just ruins the 16-bitness.

  • giygas doesnt like it when you tamper with his theme

  • i didnt like :54 it just skips over.

  • and it was getting to the best part to

  • pac-man used Mother3 reference, he grew sharp teeth and evil eyes, a big red flash happened, pokey is dead

  • this is the 16 bit pokey means business

  • The heavy metal transition certainly IS the same track looping, but more hardcore and faster.

  • A little.

  • Pokey's a little bitch. Fight without a giant machine.

  • tell me about it

  • again, tell me about it. i just got the zsnes (yay!) and so far i made it to Fourside, and saw Pokey thinking hes the president of montoli's buisness, and his dad too. they're both assholes

  • aluminum hats anyone?

  • you mean like in signs? love that movie

  • PK Starstorm the little ****er (yes i know it's PSI)

  • Nice part, didn't like the skip but hey that part rocks too XD Boops and beeps for the win =D

    Nice pic too.

  • Lol porky looks like a pimp in this picture. xd Quick! Somone get his diamond cane an hat!xd

  • I guess that's cool, but it's not the 8-bit or the heavy metal part that makes it for me, it's the abrupt transition between the two that makes the song for me.

  • I think I like both parts. The hardcore-fest is essential to the song, and when you're fighting Giygas, it really gives the battle more impact.

You could have edited it better to, it seems to loop abruptly.

    That's just my 2 cents.

  • It does, but I didn't have any software to do it with.

I'll probably repost it someday with a better loop and better picture.

  • anyway's all you need for the hardcore fest to be 8-bit is a midi to nes software *free*

i'll put my version as a video response

  • never mind youtube is being gay about it when its only 4 minutes long

  • Well, there must be something wrong with most everyone who commented here, 'cause most of them agree with me.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

  • thgis picture is very lol ^^

  • Do they have this not 8 bit? I prefer the newer art.

  • Heh, this is ADDICTING. Especially since it doesn't have that guitar-like part.

  • Amazing pic!

  • Requesting Mp3!

  • That pic pwns.

  • If this was the only part of the song played during the best, it'd be the best final boss theme ever!

  • how did you get the pic?

  • I drew it.

  • By making it.

  • You actually PREFER the 8-bit part? Ooookay.

  • I do too, is that a problem? :(

  • Most people, people I know anyway, do.

  • I got two thumbs down? Cool.

I'll admit, the 8-bit part is neat, it sounds good in the Castle Bleck song, if you've ever played SPM. I still prefer the 16-bit part though. Maybe it's just because I'm a fan of rock.

  • I didn't rate you down, and Castle Bleck is one of my favorite VG Songs. Anyone who would rate you down for your opinion is just silly. Don't worry about it.

  • Lol, I know. I was just pointing it out. My tone was somewhat rude, so it was to be expected.

  • 8-BIT IS BADASS!!!!

  • Is that your fanart?

    I enjoy it.

  • Yes, I did draw that awhile back... I personally think I could do much better now.

  • Love it! CX

  • I dunno, I like the heavier part myself, but the first 50 seconds makes me as happy as a clam too. So I guess this is good.

  • i can't tell the difference :/

  • What do you mean? The beginning of the song was 8-bit, and then it switched to the 16-bit remix, which I didn't care for. There is no difference between this, and the song's intro in the game.

  • actually get a midi of the WHOLE song counting the 16-bit part and put the midi in some japanese midi to 8 bit thing

  • Finally, the 8-bit only part of this song. It's the only part I actually like. The actual track in the game should've been this.

  • Download link please!! ^_^

  • oh but then again you forgot his tie :P

  • no he didn't ;_;

  • It's there, just small.

Awesome picture, by the way. Like the game text at the top - nice touch there...

  • you mean big lol.

it just makes his hair look like its fringe is split X0

  • your forgot pokeys huge nose :3

  • Did not.

    What do you think that huge thing in the middle of his face is? ;-;

  • oh I see now lol.. too big to tell :P

  • the lines of his nose look like his hair basically :P

  • I approve, Mother 2 was greatness in a can. AND on a stick.

  • I like it.

Of course, I've never played Mother Anyhing.

Except a /little/ bit of the original.

  • Oh god, go play it now. There's nothing else like it.
