11(A) I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd(B) lays down his life for the sheep. 12He who is(C) a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and(D) leaves the sheep and FLEES, and the wolf snatches them and(E) scatters them. 13He flees because(F) he is a hired hand and(G) cares nothing .
And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books [there is] no end; and much study [is] a weariness of the flesh. ecclesiastes 12:12
Re religious experiences and manipulation of the brain. Its an interesting argument. Of course the correlation of experience with Brain activity, does not tell us about the meaning or nature of that experience. There is brain activity involved with our interaction, but this does not mean that the correlation 'expalins' that activity. I have had transpersonal experiences, I believe they are pointers to a transcendant reality. I do not have proof - but who has ?
Interesting thoughts and ideas, but I would offer something for you to think about. The ability to 'recreate' things in the brain, is starting to get seriously tested. There are some very compelling NDE's being researched and studied currently, type in Youtube:
The Day I Died. NDE + Consciousness Documentary Pt3 of 6
Watch, part 3 and 4, the story of Pam, there is also a case later on in another part where a woman who was blind from birth was able to 'see'.
I appreciate your comments and I watched parts 3&4. Personally, I think she has convinced herself of what she believes she experienced. I think her mind created a scenario not unlike lucid dreaming. This would, I believe, be in-line with current research - but this is speculation on my part. I take all information seriously but I am a skeptic at heart and find that anecdotal testimony the least objective.
Thanks for the reply, the only thing I can add, is that her case was one of the most controlled cases ever recorded, she was flatlined and the blood drained from her brain, unless the brain could still work and we can't monitor it I suppose is always possible, but her seeing certain tools that were otherwise not visible is very interesting and describing them. Right now there is going to be a major study done on the subject in part because of cases like this and a few others.
I have heard that arguement as well. It's basically Calvinistic doctrine (once saved, always saved) and popular in Baptist churches. Even when I was a Christian, I thought that doctrine was crap.
Great video! Sadly, Christians will say that you de-converted because you never REALLY were Christian. I hear this all the time... sadly, it is simply part of the superstition - there is nothing you could do to convince them otherwise.
sadly to say but just about any idiot can get a minister license , that doesnt make you a minister .
