the sociopath above all else needs to appear normal. normal is just always out of reach. it wasnt just elimination of things in her way. it was the elimination of those who began to see the monster behind the mask-which means now others will know it too. thus they had to go. the vindictiveness of the sociopath towards those who are onto them isnt just about fear of neding up with a needle in their arm. its knowing deep down something is very wrong with them..and that others know it too

@drivensw She was so passionate about her career that she didn't want family responsibilities to tie her down. This kill was also important for Dexter, because he had to consider if he would take the same route as Zoey.

@Wisei88 it goes much deeper than that. this is someone who is essentially deeply damaged goods. most likely her inability to feel any normal emotion and obsession with rape goes back to experiencing sexual abuse starting early in her childhood. she knew deep down something was very wrong with her and in her thinking by seeking all the outer trappings of being normal-husband kids al that it would someone fix her with disastrous results. the sociopath was never programmed to be a caretaker
