I like the video, but if you use a depth gauge like that and file over the top of it you will eventually file your depth gauge thinner meaning that it is no longer giving you a 030" depth

Pickering is not having the wheel staying on the chain that will cause blue tooth, and will brake the teeth, you pick at it

Hi griffy85b, 35 degrees is ideal for cross cutting but when you are slabbing a log and using a 404 ripping chain for best results 10 - 15 degrees is best.

@CrashtestK1W1 35 degrees is too steap and causes the tooth to rock sideways causing friction and wear. I use 10 degree on ripping chain.

@docrw you haven't understood my answer. 10degree for ripping (slabbuing) and 35degree for cutting down trees eg cross cutting...

Why 15 degree angles? I thought the proper angle was 30 degrees?

Good Video, i do this same kind of Work the only thing i notice doing wrong is holding the Grinding Wheel to long on the Chain Tooth you should Use the Pickering System so you dont over heat the Chain Tooth and make the Tooth Weak over Time
