yes you need a amp. cause hedphone jack isnt amplified for speakers only hedphones. plug a amp in to the jack and it will be ok. make sure the amp watts matches the sub watts. also u might need a philter

i honestly think it sounds quite well. how do you get your speakers so loud? i have basicly the same one, and it doesnt sound that loud when hooked up to my computer. is it because i hook it into the headphone jack?
do you mean youre plugging the speaker directly into the headphone jack without an amp? if you are then ur getting line-level preamp volumes lol youd need a decent amp
usually the amps that come in these cheap 2.1 sub setups arent enough to realy show the subs off, so id use a hi-fi stereo or something
