Literally followed this video step by step. I have an iphone 4.2.10. all the steps went fine up until the restore. it says that the firmware is not compatible. Any ideas why this is happening?

@motherfuckenadam option+click"UPDATE or RESTORE" select the custom firmware. It is all on the video.

@motherfuckenadam when in itunes, press and hold *alt* and *command* keys whilst clicking restore, then finder will come up and you can select your custom firmware.

So I just went through all the steps and when I went to restore the Custom_Restore, I got a message from iTunes "The iPhone "iPhone could not be restored. This decise isn't eligible for the requested build." What to do? My iphone is 4.2.1, BB 5.15.04, bought unlocked. My imac I used is up to date and my iTunes 10.1.2... what could be the reason?

@khuppal that's because Apple is no longer signing 4.2.1 firmwares. You're out of luck until a new one, unless you have your shsh blobs or you can also try and use a different method like RedSn0w.

Oh and its the latest up to date itunes but as it just now restored it I must have inadvertently chosen to update soft version 4.3 so I think this will no longer work for me. Any other suggestions would be helpful as I miss my JB IPAD. I will def follow u on youtube .

@iLJHx apple isn't signing 4.2.1 iPSW's anymore, so unless you have your SHSH blobs I don't think there's anything else you can do.

I had the problem of when I went into DFU mode I didnt know how to change the software to my custom one, it just did the iphone one again.

@CAUGHTinSTYLE all you have to do is hold the option KEY and click "update" or "restore" and then get your custom firmware. It's on the video.

it was asking me to chose a firmware file or something but it didnt have any things for me to choose.. so i went back to simple and it let me do it.. but i wanted to do the expert mode like you said it lets you do more so will you please walk me thru this process once more because i really want to jail break my ipad thanks

i downloaded pwnage for the ipad jailbreak and once i choose expert mode like you did.. it cant find anything and it has the "brwse for ipsw..." thing you can click and once i click it it brings me to the firmware bundle screen.. wht do i do after this

@MrChidouan ha it's okay I don't think i said it correctly. Well that's how I did it in order to not have to single handedly install each one of my apps, but I have also heard that it doesn't work for some people, doesn't hurt to try, worst thing you just rejailbreak and have to install again.

When I do the process until iTunes says preparing iPhone for recovery, it just comes with an error. It's a 3G iPhone.
