  • Horrible cam.. I will sell mine and get another..

  • ive got this camera but just dont get the same joy at night mine is so grainy i dont understand :(

  • hi! I recently got this camera but the importing of the files to my mac has been giving me so many problems.... could anyone give me a hint as how to import them THaNX

  • I don't see any grainy artifacts! Great low light video

  • you didnt have any editing problems becuz i have Sony Vegas Pro 80 and this camera looks pretty good i just wanted to see if it would be good for video editing

  • @dexter5533 I will tell you 1080 video is always gonna be choppy running through an editing program, unless you got the supercommputer. It's still editable, just not watchable from your monitor, but once you render it it comes out clean, just takes a long time. If you just need SD footage then canon has a built in HDtoSD conversion to put a new file on your SD card that's maybe a little more editable than HD stuff.

  • @dexter5533 it works with sony vegas but you need a fast computer for it to playback smoothly because it takes alot of computing power to handle hd footage. i have a terrible computer and i can edit with it, but its slow and harder than with sd footage

  • pretty horrible :P in ym opinion comparing the hf10 but ofcourse the price is amazing!

  • The footage looks great!

I just got this camera and I gotta know: what are you using to upload your video files onto your pc? (And the editing software you use, too! I only have windows movie maker.) I have a chip reader that isn't working, and the software it came with it kind of blows, please help a fellow Vixia pal out, haha thanks!

  • hey im having frame rate issues with this camera and im having trouble finding the answer. just hoping you have the answer. when im recording and play the video back on the camera it looks fine, but when i import it onto my computer using the software it came with, the frame rate is horrible. i have only had this 1 day so far, and i've only shot indoors and at night so its all lamp lit. im really not sure what setting to put it on. any help would be appreciated. thank you.

  • Maybe its your ram of ur computer?

  • can somebody tell me WHY HFS 20/200 is better than HFS 10/100 in clarity of video picture??

  • @mkrisnapratama Is it? The hs100 has a bigger lense which would be better.

  • i dont know why people think the lowlight is bad on cnet user ratings. hmmm it seems pretty good

  • hey dude i have this cam and whenever i shoot any videos they turn out really noisy meaning that the video has too much noise(not in audio). can you plz plz tell me which settings i should put it on!! because your video was crystal clear!!

  • Dude try lowering down the volume of the microphone, that causes a lot of noise..

  • Its not the audio noise it is the video noise like little dots in videos they are high resolution but in low light you can see little dots in the video!!

  • very nice,,, I love all your videos,, great job

  • Great clarity in low light. I can see why this model is ratted at the top.

  • Which should I get, the HF200 or the HV20?

  • That's something you'll need to decide! Go to Canons website and do the comparison.

  • I have both! I love the HV20 for its ability to be heavily modified. I also like the weight to the HV20, and the image stabalization is kick ass! The HF200 has crystal clear images if properly lit. I like the clarity of the HF200 for editing purposes. I can zoom much further on the image in post than the HV20. This is great if you take long shots and like to add camera movement in post like I do. My two cents.

  • what is modifyable with the hv20 as opposed to the hf200

  • The HF200 because its just as good as the other but a 150$ cheaper and the only reason its that much more is because it has a built in 32GB harddrive but a 32GB SD card is only like 70 $

  • except for that a class 4 HD sd card is 150$, and you need one to get true 180 by 920 p video

  • Hf20 has has internal memory

  • does the cam have a light on it ?

  • Sure does, you have to access it through a menu system, no dedicated button like the HV20 has.

  • ohh ok cool.

  • it does have a button actually. if you press the "set" button while in capture mode it turns on the light

  • is this the hf200 or hf20? whats the diff between these two?

  • the hf20 has an internal flash memory of 32gb and still expandable with an sdhc card.

the hf200 oni has an sd card slot with no internal memory

  • Thanks for the vid, just waiting for mine to arrive, quite surprised at the quality, a lot of people have been complaining about the poor low light performance but it just shows if yor prepared to "tinker" you can get good results.

    Cheers, Steve

  • I've uploaded my own nighttime shots of the HF200 and came to the same conclusion. It's all a matter of taking the camcorder out of its automatic "P" Mode which simply doesn't work properly under low light conditions.

I'm still experimenting with the settings, especially the Cinema Mode at 24p. The results are outstanding, but the images are a bit on the dark side.

  • thanks for the test vid :)

  • Thanks for the video
