  • I hearby declare Kozelek to be the best singer/songwriter I've ever heard

  • Although there is SO much great music in this world...it all sounds like a car commercial after an hour with Koz. A true artist who would push these songs out even if he knew no one ever hear them.

  • I think I'll always remember this music.

  • Love this song, think the man's a rare gem, a true legend. Side note though, does anyone agree that he looks like Michael Portillo in this video?

  • Seein him 2moro,24th in Dublin City, caught him there last year and it was amazing.

  • Going to see Mark tomorrow night in an old converted church in Colchester in Essex UK. What a place to see him.

  • Koz just kills me. I don't know what I'd do without his music.

  • that's a gift

  • He is the best soul healer

  • I listen to his "Little Drummer Boy Live" album more than any other. (Hum's "Downward is Heavenward" is close though).

  • This is like when yo're stomach drops after hearing bad news

it mellifluously tugs at the <3 strings

  • Tell me about it, i've just lost my grandad and this was the first thing i listened to when after i heard, it seemed so appropriate. Mark's music is very theraputic when you are down.

  • I like that word: Theraputic

  • yeah me too mate

  • I agree wholeheartedly. People say things like "How can you listen to that stuff, it's so depressing". They just don't get it. I like happy music sometimes, but mostly it's the melancholic stuff that does it for me. I don't subscribe to the theory that listening to melancholy music is self indulgent and perpetuates the melancholy.

  • Too right.

  • Mark Kozelek is a very special man.

  • I agree 100%, Mark crafts the most emotionally rich music.

  • Mark is amazing..

  • Tiny Cities Made of Ashes, originally a Modest Mouse song and from his album Tiny Cities (entire album is Modest Mouse covers).

  • Anyone know the chords for this? I'd love to be able to play it. Best song this year by a long shot. Even The Onion agrees.

  • i cant describe the emotion that found this band makes me feel.has been a while since a song touch me so deep that gave me a new window to watch the world.this band makes that and im so thankfull.gave me back emotions that were so deep inside that i thought they were finally lost.thanks Mark

  • I´m 9 yrs younger, but absolutely same here. these feelings become more powerful where You are listening in a place or surrounding what is very close to You, knows You since childhood. I´m doing that now. Let the mid-age bliss come...

  • Mark Kozelek is a god! SKM's new CD is the best I have ever bought...

  • soooooweeeet

  • i had mine on pre-order, got a signed copy. Best CD i've ever purchased.

  • I love this song, and this is probably my favorite version. April is a stunning album, but its version just doesn't compare to this.

  • Thank you for this.

  • This is wonderful!

The new Sun Kil Moon album - April - is out. Moorestown's there - and, as good as this sounds, there are some brighter jewels on it.

    Viva Koz.

  • Awesome

  • I second that.

  • Thirded. Sun Kil Moon's new album will be out of this world.

  • Fouthed (if that's even possible :P)

  • fifth that

  • that's awesome, to be seein' video of one of my favourite live performances. that's a heavenly song.

greetings from Moscow, some people here also adore Mark Kozelek deeply

  • I'm glad to catch all of you guys here, sometimes it feels like I'm the only boy on this rock that hails this man up just as high as people like nick drake. thank you for sharing this lovely recording. I remember there was a very old RHP recording of Strawberry Hill live, and it got deleted. does anyone know where to find what ever's left of it?

  • i have a copy of a 1991 live performance of Strawberry Hill & some other stuff - which I will post soon.

  • that would be absolutely terrific dude !!

  • bless you, man! means a lot to me <3

  • zadamian, you are so right, mark kozelek is by far the most underrated sing/song writers in america. he's incredible. his voice is so etheric the live album, 'little drummer boy' is the soundtrack to heaven.

  • 'little drummer boy' ione of the most sublime things I ve ever heard

  • did you know his hear about his new cd coming out in april? its going to be so good

  • great news!

  • Kevin,do you remember Archdale,in High point? I took you to the fire station, and you said that stars stay where they are..I know i ´m telling secrets, but I cannot find you and listening to RHP reminds me of the heart we shared,Love,M

  • This was awesome. Nice post, buddy. That is the essence of RHP in a YouTube comment.

  • :-)

  • I feel like these two songs are so sending I can hardly bear the pull, does anyone feel this way as you listen?..Like remembering something or missing something,or just knowing something..

  • amazing video by an amazing artist and songwriter. i hope he eventually records a studio version of this song.

  • This is amazing!!! I love the Koz....thanks for putting it on here. Good luck to you and your challenge. Hugs!

  • He has really done alot for me with his music..His voice, his soul that he was willing to share with the world. He said "it´s all he´s known how to do"..I understand and I just want to say thank you...

  • sorry have not posted- battling an addiction to meth which i have overcome- still struggling to cope with leaving very close friends. i am feeling healthy but somber. I will post more from this performance and circulate it to fans sometime soon. I will also include other films of artists that make a difference in my life. Its truth, emotion, love and understanding that makes a difference. Mark represents experiences of lifes truth. peace.

  • @zadamian

your last visit was 10 months ago, i hope your meth situation is getting better, if it isnt find your wings

  • Mark inspires me to keep believing in the power of an individual to make a difference

  • I could'n found that song.. what's its name?

  • He played this, along with 2 other new tracks, at the London gig last Wednesday. Just stunning.

  • lOL you sis was mark kozelek's muse/love interest?

  • This song was written about my sister! and yes, Mark is so good.

  • for real?

  • can't imagine the world without RHP, Sunkilmoon...and Mark Kozelek.. what an empty world it would be. Great video

  • Thanks for posting :o)!

  • GORGEOUS I can't stop listening to this. Hypnotic. Rainy day looking out the window with that longing feel that never goes away...

  • I will post more from the performance by the end of the weekend. I will also post footage of other artists I appreciate that I have been fortunate to have film. Crazy how underated Mark Kozelek is.

  • yes i have the new live album....a very very must for any fan!

  • Hey zadamian, Thank you for sharing. We want more stuff of Kozelek. He is one of the big ones.

  • possibly the most beautiful song mark koz has ever written. his quintessential, representative expression of nostalgia, loss and old love. buy his new live album for this alone =)

  • word. did mark officially name the song Moorestown. At the time of the peformances was within the year it was undecided and i noticed some people assumed the title would be Moorestown. Just curious?

  • yes he did. it's nopw available on his latest live album

  • yup.. the first part is Modest Mouse's "Tiny Cities Made of Ashes."
