  • When she yells his name, after finding him, sends chills over my body. I would love to hear someone yell my name with such compassion, desperation and love. Hold on... I'm on skype with the girl of my dreams. She just whispered my name when she woke up. It sent chills...

  • Try turning off those electric lamps above the bed first.

  • A penny for your thoughts? Sure doesn't go far these days eh? He should have bought some penny candy at the time and given it to Arthur!

  • curse that penny!!! ☻

  • Here's my theory: Robinson is a time traveler himself, which is why he inexplicably seems to know things . Plus, he's the one who plants the penny in Richard's pocket to send him back to the future. Richard had already checked his pockets for non-1912 coins prior to his leap into the past. Robinson is a more experienced "quantum leaper" which is why the modern penny he planted didn't send him back prematurely.

  • @notoms If you think back to earlier in the movie when Collier was getting ready by removing all post-1912 items, he put a bunch of coins in that pocket before he remembered to take them out again. Personally I think he simply missed one of them. It's so sad-- betrayed by a penny.

  • Damn Penny! >.<

  • I LOVE the moment that she sees him, the camera angle that includes him sitting by the railing and her down below and the JOY of holding each other!! Beautiful moment, lots of beautiful moments in this movie. Both gorgeous people and the way they look at each other. Lucky for me, I have the love of my life look at me that way.....so I know how it feels.

  • I hate pennys for two reasons 1. they are worth nothing reason 2. THEY SEND PEOPLE BACK INTO THE FUTURE!

  • OMG Superman really moves fast. When he ran for her he was there in like 2 seconds!

  • omg gosh shes goin take her big hair apart...big ball of hair..lol

  • Lovely as it is. Dress it up all they want. Sex is wonderful at its naughtiest XD

Bow chicka wow wow !! lol

  • My heart stops everytime I watch this scene.

  • Ricccccccccccccarrrrrrrdddddddddd Riccccccccccccccchhhhhhhhhaaarrrddddd!!!

  • The most sad scene ever :(, it reminds me of when I wake up from my dream worlds in the morning. There is no going back, and you know it.

  • The most sad scene ever

  • what like 3-4 days, then sex, damnn they move fast as balls

  • I love Jane, but ooh what a shrill scream ~

  • What did she do for money for all those years, sitting around the hotel? She couldn't have been that wealthy, yet.

  • @guitarbo1 true that girl true that...she sat around waiting for him forever while on welfare....

  • I wonder how it looked like when he got transported back to the future, Was it like a vortex? or a disembodiment ?

  • If i were her i would've tripped and fell with that clumsy dress on!

  • Is there anyone who thinks this movie esp this part so silly that it's hilarious?

  • I'd be bugging that professor... saying, "Yeah! A penny for YOUR THOUGHTS!!!"

  • Christopher Reeve truly portrays a painful heartbreak that any man would endure when torn away from the love of there life.Great Actor.

  • Thaat stunk! and 1979 of all years D:

  • Damn, this is so hard to watch. It's the kind of love my Grandmother and Grandpop had. And I know she misses him, too...

  • "I don't understand, nobody seems to like my suit." WE ALL HATE IT BECAUSE THATS THE STUPID SUIT THAT HOLDS THAT STUPID PENNY! Other than that, nice colour ^_^ XD

  • @OurEvening Great movie. Classic Love Story. You just wanted them to be together, forever.

  • @LenaDelovely I thought that too, but I guess it wouldn't be much of a film if he went back. Plus, what could he do? be stuck in the past forever? His present self would eventually give out and die of malnutrition or something. Perhaps its better he came to the present sooner, as harsh as it sounds, so he could accept that in his lifetime he couldn't be with her. And the sooner he died (sick as it sounds), the sooner he would be with her properly in the after life :) x

  • Im curious to know how she knew his whereabouts when she was 85. At first I thought she knew he was from t he future because he dropped the penny..but it came back with him. I can only assume that she followed playwrights during her life and when he had that hit play in 72 his name was all over the news (must have come as a shock to her) but then she read that time travel book many times they said so maybe she was trying to go back too...who knows.

  • I just stop the movie at 6:08 and assume they live happily ever after..... I honestly don't know why they had to end the movie on a down..

  • makes you wonder what she saw - did he just vanish instantly? or did he kinda fade away like a mist?

  • Watching him slowly wind down like that is so damn depressing!

  • Thats so cruel. I hated him going back. His face when he saw the coin...and his arm when he reached for her...

  • thats nice u go from such nice scenery to the trash dump and seagulls lol

  • doesn't it knid of remind u when he comes bacof tom cruise having a break down

  • oh the dangers of time travel. the answer is, dont go back in time:)

  • @mrrtsno i think the answer is - don't go back it time and fall in love :(

  • what's he so upset about? he can just go back to 1980 and start all over again with the time travel. it's as if he owns the delorean

  • fucken penny man

  • 'I want to be everything to you." Wow, that really sums up every woman's dream, doesn't it?

  • Makes me think of my man (who happens to be Reeve's namesake)

  • Chills down my spine :(

  • I was shocked the first time I saw that part, after that every other time I've watched this If screamed at the TV like "Noooo don't go in the pocket!" lol I love this movie, makes my cry though.

  • I remember watching this as a seven year old and I HATED this film, made me sad even back then. Now I'm watching it again. WOW! It's glorious but it's so terrible. I'm crying so much!

  • she's really prety.

  • Oh man.....this movie is so well made! By the time Richard "returns" to the present, you realize you've been pulled into the other world so much, that you hate to leave it just as much as he!!!

  • stupid penny, no matter what time period, it's always useless xD

  • This movie has to be one of the most romantic movies ever. It makes you believe,

that there can always be a true love out there somewhere.

  • These last scenes make me freaking cry, and im a guy, a guy who lifts weights and smokes pot, this movie turns me into a little bitch and i hug my pillow =(

  • 6:21 scared me when I first watched this movie

  • 2:59 OMGood Lord!

  • i want a love like this............

  • @JoyDivisiongirl A love that vanished whenever he finds loose change?

  • So sad, she spent the rest of her life at that hotel waiting for him to come back. She didnt change her hair style, even her clothing style stayed the same. She was frozen in time from then on waiting for him. What a sweet sad movie.

  • Man, the suit scene just shocked the hell out of me.

  • NO NO NO I am so sad now :( The whole suit thing was so cute :( tell me he goes back !!

  • 05:02 lol they kissed after she had eaten the chicken. THe dude looked a bit unsecure about it.

  • may be he should have said " June 29th 1912 5:01am...

  • Oh god, his crying at 8:30 pretty much tore me completely apart...

  • @ififellinlove77 Yeah, that part always gets me. So heartbreaking.

  • I'm glad the love scene didn't go over the top. It wouldn't have worked for this movie and it was tastefully done. It also leaves something to the imagination.

  • the sad thing is that as much as they loved each other and made each other happy while they were together, he really was her downfall. just like her manager predicted.

  • What depresses me the most is seeing the modern day lakeside all filled with garbage and pollution. I cried when I saw the birds eating the trash. I'd hate to see how it looks now, 30 years later.

  • i WAS JUST THINKING! haha i was just thinking the same thing, what elise saw as he "dissapeared" my guess was that he kinda faded away. id be a little freaked if i were her, the dude i just made love to just pullin out a penny, and then reaching out to me and fading away. people in the hotel probably wondered why the hell she was screaming REEEEEEECHAAARD!!! ahahahaha

  • Oh my God...Jane is perfect.

  • Te amo cariñooo

  • Trust me-they made love! lol

  • I always assumed they made love, but the scene makes it hard to be sure.

  • @IWannabeJew Umm, they did the horizontal polka...trust me.

  • Meditate on this one: Where did THE WATCH originally come from?

  • @IWannabeJew, some people say the watch was never made/created, but that's not necessarily the case. In same way you can ask: how could she ask him to come back to her 8 years before he made the trip back to meet her for the first time? Just like in "Deja Vu", there might be additional timelines that happened but are not shown in the movie. Or, it might be there was a 1912 Richard and a 1972/1980 Richard. The "original" Richard might have died in real life when the second Richard found the coin

  • Comment removed

  • @IWannabeJew That would be one possible explanation as to why he coudn't return after the coin incident...

  • Elise @ 4:08: total BRIDEzilla!!! Make him laugh out loud.

  • Where is Robinson @ 3:30. We should be hearing a sharp little "knock, knock, knock. Kenna??? What's going on in there???"

  • I love this part..

  • i cried. really.

  • I've always thought the most tragic shot in this movie is the shot with the garbage cans on the beach. I don't know why, but it always gets to me.

  • store owner here in L.A. is displayning the portrait of Elise, hoping he can get me a copy. It's truly beautiful

  • "June 29th 1912, I'm back, I'm back"...cheesy!

  • It's called a movie. If you want reality, then don't watch one.

  • No kidding Sherlock! But the line is still cheesy movie or no movie.

  • This soooooo heart wrenching to see Christopher Reeve all broken up & sobbing........

  • Comment removed

  • Damn he ran hella fast to her! O.o So sad though :(

  • I've never liked pennies!

  • this part is sooo sad...pulling at my heartstrings:(

  • Oh my God, that woman is so beautiful

  • Poor Richard. I would have shot myself if that happened to me.

  • holy crap i just realize he had to go back to his own room when he came back to his own time.other words he really was there and his body some how telaport.

  • putanginang coin yan!

  • LOL! sasabihin ko sanan yan when i saw your post. LOL! goofy ano! LOL!

  • june 29 is my birthday!!!

  • sad scene

  • Why was the damn coin even there!

  • I saw this as a child and remember the coin he pulled out that sent him back to the present. I want to go visit the grand hotel

  • this is the best part, when he finds her again.....

  • Whenever I reach into my pocket and pull out the only money I have, a penny, I realize in what time I'm actually living, too. ; )

  • JUST SO BEAUTIFUL.

  • omg I forgot this bit :(

  • YES THIS BIT WAS SO SAD.

  • That's so horrible. The whole thing w/ the suit was so cute and then they just rip your heart out :(

  • i always wondered how that looked from her perspective...did he just disappear or what? i'm really curious about that

  • Yeah, I've always wondered that, too.

Maybe his insides came out of his mouth while his skin shrank.

  • wow... never thought of that... saying that would be horrible to see is an understatement, but explain why she went into exile after! interesting.

  • Heh, it was just a guess. My other two guesses are that he faded until he disappeared and that he shrank into a pinpoint and then nothingness.

  • 6:10 "Oh Why did that have to happen? I wish he hadn't of reached in his pocket." Great movie. Thanks for posting.

  • @JuanPaoloChamorro I wondered same thing may times and I wish he had never reached his pocket. But if you think about it, his trip was only a mental one, so sooner or later the "dream" would have ended anyway one way or another. Chances are his body would have given up after 1-2 more days.
