Im not sure what role Sarath played in the war crimes and when I think about it he took a great risk testifying in the US. So perhaps he is just a good man caught up in a bad situation created by the Rajapaksa's. Regardless, I think his democratic reforms to delegate power to the parliment would have been great for the country and its a shame the Rajapaksa's stopped him succeeding.

When Sarath Fonseka was the Army Commander for 4 years, more than 600 of Army men & women were court martialed by him and they were treated like dirt..
More than 200 cases were filed against him in the Supreme Court & in the High Courts by soldiers and officers challenging his atrocities and he has failed to act in almost all cases according to the Supreme Court judgements. 40 cases arestill pending against him in the High Courts as well as in the Supreme Court. .

The credit for winning the war cannot be given to one person, but the Generals are the people who command the troops on the battlefields, even though the president is the commander-in-chief. SF should be given most of the credit for winning the land battles of the war (which are the most important battles, because they brought end to the war), therefore he is a true leader and should be given the chance to lead the country as the President....

The credit for winning the war cannot be given to one person, but the Generals are the people who command the troops on the battlefields, even though the president is the commander-in-chief. SF should be given most of the credit for winning the land battles of the war (which are the most important battles, because they brought end to the war), therefore he is a true leader and should be given the chance to lead the country as the President....
