  • Pure genius. all I can say...

  • yo quiciera saber como se hacen las ocarinas de madera por que no hacen un tutorial te lo agradeceria

  • you rock bro!

  • I can imagine that it is very difficult to blow the right amount of air into the two chambers.

I love the sound of this ocarina/sweet potato, though! It sounds wonderful and unique and definitely something I could listen to all day long.

  • beautiful, it must feel so empowering to accompany yourself on a woodwind

  • Mr. Hind... you have some skills!!

  • Very nice

  • That is a very innovative ocarina. Very beautiful sound. If only I had a large sum of money, I would very seriously consider buying one.

  • Sweet its basically the sound you would get from 2 ocarina's.

  • I've seen many ocarinas, but this is the one that captivated me by its beautiful sound. I wish I can have one of this someday...

  • How much is it for this one? its not on site.

  • sweet jesus on a unicycle!

not only does that ocarina sound awesome but the sheer craftmanship required to make an instrument like that is amazing.

  • Wow, that ocarina sounds amazing! I'm totally sold. I searched your site earlier to find out how I could get one of these, but I'm assuming it's already sold. How often do you make these Harmony sweet potatoes? I'd really like to get my hands on one. --Richard

  • Hi Richard,

While his website doesn't seems to have one available at the moment, you may be able to custom-order this ocarina. I would send him an email.

    -ChilledTea

  • @Chilledtea i checked with him and it costs $550 and has the same wood choices as his double...personally i want this more since its sooo unique!

  • You are amazing. Well done! I am so glad that you are continuing to create unique and wonderful instruments.

  • this is amazing, great job!

  • Great OC !

  • amazing...u r awesome...i respect ur work so much and i want to here so much more keep up the good work

  • Wow, dude you are awsome and the amount of work you place into these ocarinas just blows my mind. I cannot wait to buy your complete Walnut ocarina set.

  • That was very beautiful =)

  • I love this video, the harmony sounds so pretty together. Would you say it's difficult to play this style of ocarina??

  • Yes, it takes a lot of practice.

  • You are great at what you do. Both musically and craft wise. A true inspiration. Keep up the wonderful work and know you have helped change the world in a good way.

  • That was so beautiful! I got you alto Bb ocarina today and i am so happy with it, you have the best sounding ocarinas i've heard yet. I want this one now, i cant wait for my birthday so i can ask my mom if i can get it.

  • Great!

But why wood? Why not ceramics?

  • I've never worked with ceramics but have been making woodwinds for 34 years. Wood was the natural choice for me.

  • Don't break that easy ... doesn't it ?

  • The only thing that I can say is that that is the most unique and wonderful ocarina I've ever seen.

Not only the sound surprised me, but the fact that you can play it, and get the sound of two instruments is something that totally amazes me.

Congratulations, Mr. Hind, I think that I speak for everyone here when I say that you've created the most unique ocarina in the world.

  • Thanks Dk...I really appreciate that.

  • Man that was cool!

  • Woah those are uber cool!

  • hey mr. hind, its Smarty, all i can say is wow

  • hey mr. hind, its marty, all i can say is wow

  • nice suspensions!

  • these harmonics remind me of playing a hulusi, although hulusis dont sound that soothing at all^^

  • I want one of those!

  • you're not the only one xD

Yet... I'm out of money T_T

  • Yeah, and I'm going to be out of money.

I need a new computer and a lot of other new stuff.

    And it's all so expensive.

Well, perhaps I can save some.

If all goes well, I might be able to buy this ocarina in march 2009.

  • yeah, same here... I'm still saving up for a digital piano...

  • Yeah, those things can be expensive.

    We already have one.

A pretty good one. It can store MIDI's (and not those lousy noob kinda MIDI's), and you can connect it to your pc somehow. Although it's far from being the best. But it's definitely got more luxury than we need.

Some acquiantaces of ours selling their piano.

Perhaps you should look for a second hand too.

  • its hard to get ocarinas in europe. i have to pay the double just for getting it sent to denmark! (taxes, shipping and something we call "told") told is very expensive...

  • Too much for my wallet

  • i know his ocs are so expensive, but i bet if you saved and got one it would be totally worth it you know

  • yeah i know. maybe after a couple maparams. maybe. i dont know

  • So let me see if I'm getting this right...

The 4 holes on each side, are used in the english pendant style when you play them? Cool, nice ocarina :P

  • u r amazing... u sell those?

  • That's a perfect gift to me for my wedding :-)

  • also i showed this video to my bro who hates this kind of stuff and said that he wants this ocarina...

  • how much does this ocarina cost?

  • alot...

  • 400

  • awsome

  • is ti possible to make a 12-hole with a harmony chamber? id love to own one like that

  • yes this 1 isa 12 hole (10 on top 2 on bottem)

  • the ocarina you are describing doesnt exist or it hasnt been created yet.

Most 12-hole ocarinas have 8 holes at the top and 2 thumb-holes at the bottom (which makes ten holes) and they also have 2 accidental holes on the top (which makes 12 holes).

I think this ocarina has only 10 or 9 holes. It sounds great! but i would preefer a 12-holes. It's just my oppinion.

  • Yes, it is possible. You just need to make sure that the notes from the lower chamber are tuned in fourths with the higher chamber if you want an ocarina with the video's ocarina's outcome. That kind of ocarina would cost way more than a regular double ocarina because of the intense amount of work required to do such a thing :)

  • I love this ocarina and eventually hope to own it. Bravo to you sir.

  • That is absolutely beautiful.

  • you have excellent ocarinas..i just wish i could afford em haha i love this new one!

  • This is truly a genius design sir!

    Sounds beautiful as usual.

  • You are a flute Einstein

  • I make these harmony sweet potatoes. They will be available on my website sometime this week. Thanks everyone for your positive comments. I am always open to your suggestions if you have any particular ocarina needs and wishes.

  • Hello sir.

Speaking of double ocarinas - I have yet to see a wooden ocarina that has multiple chambers intended to extend the range of the ocarina (as ceramic double/triple ocarinas are).

I'm wondering whether this is possible. I just found it interesting that there doesn't appear to be one already :-)

  • That's genius! Beautiful ocarina!

  • Reminds me of a caliope.

  • Hey, now that's really great!

  • What a brilliant concept. Thanks for sharing and hope to play one some day!

  • that sounds gr8 =]

  • first comment :D kewl ocarina
