My first time ever to hear this recording and with Gieseking!! Isn't life wonderful? I listened to this twice in a row, re-listened to the middle theme of the 1st mov and the cadenza which I find so listenable where I can actually hear notes not just heavy bangings and the chords at the cadenza tip where they go from slow to rapid succession, amazing achievement. On occasion I 'shop around' for versions I like but I'll stick to this one and Gould's. Thanks for this upload, PRICELESS!
this is a beautiful recording with no stress. There was a reason to make this recording... Gieseking was a great interpreter. He not just plays notes but brings out the meaning of these notes....he knows where and what is important. He doesn t exagerate. Every note is clearly to hear
I am writing to you since I am looking for a cover photo of a deleted CD of Walter Gieseking, in which Gieseking is sitting in a stool by his piano wearing his typical hat. In this cover photo, he has his legs crossed and he is smiling. The cover photo shows him in full body.
I would be grateful if you could tell me about the label and catalogue number of the deleted CD.
I´ve heard this recording on the radio a while ago and was looking for it ever since.
Thanks for uploading this :)

And someone told me this was one of the worst recordings of the Rach 3.... LOL. This is a wonderful interpretation, he really made it his own.

Listening the opening theme is an experience of it's own.
Very interesting. We're all so used to hearing it in much faster tempo that it's shocking at first but after awhile it's convincing,.
Love it. Thanks for the post!
