@thecastleanthrax1: AG is my favorite movie of all time. As a 11-yr-old kid, it was the first movie that really evoked a lot of feelings both happy and sad (the ending titles) which staid with me long after leaving the theater.
I was a high schooler during the same period and the movie was spot on. Every one of us could relate to a character in this movie. The only difference in real life no way Toad ends up with Debbie, at least for a while.
You GO girlie!!!I got her to sign the registration card to my Studebaker a few years back.Hope the Graffiti gang can make it to the East Coast Indoor Nationals this year!!"Peel out!!"
Awsome! I was 11 in '73. Me, my brother, sister and friends watched AG over and over. One of us would pay to get in, then sneak the others in through the emergency exit. None of us hsad any money. We would watch it all day. Those great memories ruwsh back every time I hear Rock Around the Clock. That was the perfect song to open the movie with. Very exciting.
I agree. I can't hear the Bill Haley classic without immediately thinking of Black Board Jungle (1955), American Graffiti, or Happy Days. The emotions and feelings that those memories evoke are extremely warm and happy. Thanks for your comments.
I grew up in denver, colo in the late 50's and 60's and this movie nailed it right on. Thanks for this video and let me add, there could never been a more perfectly chosen cast. Candy Clark made you want to be there!
Candy, whom I spoke with most recently at the 2009 American Graffiti Celebration in Petaluma, CA, is one of the warmest, friendliest people you'd ever want to meet.
Great clip! I fell in love with Candy Clark the first time I saw her in 1973 on American Graffiti. I plan to go to Petaluma Ca in May for the chance of meeting her at the annual festival they have to celebrate the movie.
Listening to Ms. Clark's recollections definitely heightens one's appreciation of this timeless classic!....I hope Universal sees fit to release this deserving filmic time capsule a Bluray release in the not-to-distant future....a parting recollection of my own is remembering that 'AG' played continously at the theaters for over a YEAR back in 73' !
Yes, you brought up something that one doesn't see today: the long theater engagement. I remember that too. I first saw it in a tiny movie theater in Woodland, CA in April 1974 and i think it had been playing there since it's initial release in August 1973. Thank you for your comments!
very nice..I actually watched this show 12 times after I returned from overseas from the Army..really cool to hear what happen behind the scenes...so yes, very nice...rated it a 5 star.
American Grafitti is one of my all-time favorites. Interesting to hear Candy Clark's recollections...I alway thought that the character of "Fonzie" on "Happy Days" should have been more like the character of "John Milner" in Grafitti. Milner was cool yet humble. And Milner didn't have to "act cool" because he WAS cool.
Great clip!....We never get to see this kind of stuff on TV here in the UK so youtube is a godsend for seeing stuff like this.American Graffiti is one of my all time favourite films and the music is cool too!.....Thanks for posting this...Best regards from Yorkshire England,

It was shown as the senior class movie in 1976 or 1977 _ I snuck in with an upper classman! I watch this movie at least twice a year!

To Cologono33,
Wow, you were lucky. I've met her several times. She usually never reenacts scenes. I wish I could have seen that. Stay cool!

Heeey!
Yes, I agree: Milner didn't have to try to be cool by wearing a leather jacket or banging on jukeboxes to turn them on.
