Grimson actually tried to dissuade Odgers from fighting, as he had a major size advantage. Odgers attempt to fire up his team in that series didn't work; the Sharks got swept four straight. Goes to show this tactic doesn't work as often as they say.
How the hell are the announcers saying grim caught him off gaurd? he dropped the gloves, waited for odgers to latch on and threw a punch at the same time as him. announcers are fucking dumb.
I remember Grimson looking at the ref when Odgie was going to get an instigator penalty, or something, and then Grimson went to work. Hilarious. Popeye never had quite enough spinach for the big boys.
Did you say Odgers was a very good fighter??? He was AWEFUL! We got him in Boston for a few years, and he always got pummeled and left the ice bloody! From Rob Ray, to Ken Belanger...they left him a bloody mess. He had balls, but he used his face to block punches....and looked like Tim Hunter because of it!
He always seemed to get cut, even when he was playing in San Jose. He did have a few impressive wins, but if you wanna see examples of him getting killed, watch his fights with Grimson, Ray, Belanger, Tie Domi, & Marty McSorley. He got demolished by them.
@BoSoxnation1972 Yeah he was horrible in boston- that year was just a mess..we were losing constantly and odgers still had to go out and do his job. Featherstone..Shaw..Ray..Belanger..they had blood transfusion stations set up in the locker rooms during every game.

I love how Stu's kinda lukewarm to the idea, and finally the Ref gives him the OK and he just pounds him
props to Odgers for having the balls to take on Stu

He pushed it too far and the Reapers fist flashed in his face.

Grimson did all he could to not hurt Odgers. But Odgers begged for it.

Grimson was just trying to respect the code and not lay out the Captain. But the ref didn't step in when he asked, so he did what he had to.

If you go to Wikipedia and look up the phrase "asking for it", they will probably have this video posted, lol.

Poke a bear with a stick enough times, sooner or later it's going to turn around and bite you.

It was by the time Grimson got traded to the Wings that he finally learned how to stand on his skates, and start winning an asston of fights.
Odgers' Jaw looked like it had a big dent on the right side, and was misaligned on the left side in the replay.

Odgers was a very good fighter, but this looked all too easy for the Grim reaper.
