This is a trailer for the program "Blood On The Carpet", I watched tis program on Youtube and it is worth watching. I did always wonder why we have two darts bodies and also whay they don't like each other much. And the snooker program shown was called "Pot Black", a program I loved a lot on the ABC TV here in Australia in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
I don't understand why people get so uptight about who watches BDO or PDC??? In the end its Darts (depending on your view)... the thing which annoys me about PDC is the crowds.. sometimes they remind me of rowdy football fans (the bad variety). Who cares about which orgnisation pays more if they were paying me the money I wouldn't complain but they are not why bitch about who pays out more?

I think the thing is from Bobby Georges point of view he had made his money from playing already so it didnt matter if he lefted or stayed...
But for the younger players having no where to play and not alot of prize money is very bad...
It now seems the PDC are trying to make lower level darts more monied and more comps through Rileys which imho can only be a good thing and will improve the whole sport of darts!
Darts are popular in the States, but in pockets. Midwest, New England... they never televise anything until 6 to 8 months later! And, Yes! We know Bristow, Taylor, (my boy) John Part, Barney, Roland, Painter, and on and on. Look up the ADO, or the MVDO, SCDL, you'll find a few guys you've seen on tele. We may suck, but at least we're trying (just like curling).
the bdo is stuck in the eighties, thats why all the best players play in the pdc, bdo made a profit last year of £16,000, the pdc over a million with 5 million in prize money, most players use the bdo as a stepping stone to get to the pdc, averages per 3 darts in pdc are about 10 higher thats because more players can earn a living and don't do it part time, olly croft is very much holding the bdo back for his own selfish reasons.
keep telling yourself that and you may just believe it. The PDC world Championship is the only title that matters.
While the PDC is moving the sport forward, attracting more fans, paying players more money the BDO is still stuck in the dark ages with two TV tournaments.
Also the PDC doesnt steal any players. Players leave the BDO with there own free-will. Mervin King, Webster, Whitlock etc have all said it is the best thing they could of done..

the BDO world championship has more viewers as it is on terrestrial tv. PDC has much more TV tournaments. The PDC gets much bigger live crowds at there events. The Premier League sell 8000 tickets in the Livepool Echo arena. Do you think the BDO could get anywhere near that?
I remember seeing BDO event on setanta last year and there was about 100 people watching. LOL Martin Adams is just a paper champion.
Oh and the BDO will sell up to the PDC within 2 years..

yeah but the PDC can sell out them venue's. If you put the PDO tournaments there they would struggle to sell tickets. Like I saide before, the PDC has attracted new fans. It has gave the players opportunity to become stars. The Management in the BDO have failed big time. Two TV tournaments every 12 months is a joke. Players can not become popualr without TV!!

All the super leagues, womens and youth darts around the country are BDO run, but after the darts split in 1993, the PDC has been seen as the premier and better darts organisation. Thats also where the money is to be won, and therefore the BDO being seen as the 'feeder' to the PDC.
remember phill taylor won 2 bdo titles he left the bdo becuase he knew there better things for him in the pdc and other player like bristow,jocky wilson etc crosses over,bdo is old fashioned and is a dying darts organisation.
NO HE GETS £100,000. BDO makes darts players, PDC steals them. With BDO you dont know who is going to win the world championship with PDC its pretty much always taylor. Boring I say BDO has the history PDC is just for the players who are greedy for money.

The man is such a self-centred, self-important, ignorant idiot that he couldn't see and still can't see just how much he's held the game back. The BDO is still stuck in the dark ages with 2 TV tournaments each year while the PDC continues to grow and improve. There are quality players in the BDO but eventually they all make the switch to the PDC, who have embraced the modern world and moved on with it rather than hiding from it.
All these guys that are saying the BDO players are rubbish are taking out their backsides. There's plenty of fantastic players on the BDO Circuit that could consistently win matches against PDC players. Ask yourselves this, where did nearly all of the PDC players come from? Taylor, Barney, King, Wade, Thornton, Anderson, Priestley, Part - ALL played in the BDO. It's simple, the PDC exists because of the BDO. I play on the BDO Circuit, and i think it's brilliant.
well I still think there will be plenty of good players who play in the BDO. The super league and county system is still BDO run and thats where every single englishman on TV has played at some point so they will still come through the BDO at some stage. Also - the top 3 in the world aside - they can all beat each other, regardless of which body they play for. In terms of popularity and entertainment I would agree though. You can't skip legs and sets and expect people to enjoy it as much.
Now Whitlock has gone, along with Anderson, Webster who recently joined, is there anyone left who thinks that the BDO should still carry on and claim to have the worlds best darts players? It would be embarrasing if they did!
the pdc isnt that far ahead of the bdo...yes there is phil taylor who is streets ahead and a couple others but most of them average about 90...only taylor can average 110 etc barney about 100 usually. and wade the same the rest are all on the night players as is the bdo.
I agree, lots of people think that everyone the PDC could win the BDO title. Most of the players who have made the swtich have done well. I've always thought Klassen and van Gerwen were overrated. My top 10: Taylor Barney BDO Wade Jenkins King BDO Anderson BDO Thornton BDO Adams BDO Lewis Lloyd / Part / Manley / Webster / Whitlock / Hankey / Mardle / Waites Outside the top 2 they can all easily beat each other. I do hate the BBC coverage though with them skipping legs / sets.

Well, the best players I've seen were players that played American Darts in Vegas.
They scored 9-darters like Taylor or Barnefeld made 180, and had an average of 11-12 darts to check out.
The level of steel darts today is not that high, and I belive if those players would go there, they woould win, but they still make more then a million a year, so they won't even consider steel darts...
It's a shame, but I can't see it changing now. Non Sky Sports viewers really do lose out, just watched Taylor the living legend win his 14th title. He could win the BDO title with one eye covered up.
Obv PDC is the best now for the overall standard, maybe only getting that crown in the past few years when most of the best BDO players moved across, Barney, King, Klaasen etc, theres still a couple of top quality players in the BDO such as Gary Anderson and Webster but the numbers of great players in the BDO is gettin smaller and smaller.
I loved this documentary. Particularly when Eric Bristow's wife put forward a reasonable and incisive explanation as to her role in the secession of the PDC from the BDO. Bristow himself then comes on and says bluntly "don't listen to 'er, she's fucking mad!" Priceless!
Lets be honest. I think THe BDO lakeside championships are better than The PDC world finals. Just my opinions. I think the 3 dart average on the whole at he lakeside last year was better than the PDC World finals.

Its a lot easier to play at the Lakeside in front of a smaller and quieter audience. Can you imagine Ted Hankey playing in the PDC?
It takes a lot more bottle and nerve to play in front of loads of screaming and singing drunks than a quiet crowd, and that can put you off your game a bit.
Hankey etc would be hitting pub standard averages in the PDC. I mean Hankey got pissed off with the crowd at the Lakeside and they are hardly deafening.

I picked up my first set of darts at just 2 years old, but have been a pool player from I was 5, and the 1 thing that I notice, is that Darts players are only starting to get the recognition that they all deserve.
I've played snooker and I hate it, it's like being stuck in a library, trying not to move in case the world is gonna end or something :) lol
Darts has everything, action, drama and it doesn't matter how good or bad a thrower you may be, darts is a sport for everyone :)

I Agree with that as bobby George although a good player he wasnt in the class like Leighton Rees, John Lowe, Eric bristow, Jocky Wilson as these players were a touch above Bobby George in his prime.

I presume you're using steel-point? Dartboard should be 5ft 8ins from centre of bullseye to the floor & the toe-line (oche) should be 7ft 9 1/4ins from the face of the board. All the best throwing straight!

Nice, Long live Sky Sports and the PDC. Good to see ITV with the PDC this week, just a shame it was the same week as the Winmau world masters. The BDO is such a bore these days. My parents didnt have Sky either, so back in 1997 I got it in my bedroom via cable.

i think bobby goerge didnt switch cos he new there was to much competion at the PDC, he wud rather stay in his comfort zone at the BDO instead and pretend he was the king there like that tosser olly croft

I Agree with that as bobby George although a good player he wasnt in the class like Leighton Rees, John Lowe, Eric bristow, Jocky Wilson as these players were a touch above Bobby George in his prime.

I presume you're using steel-point? Dartboard should be 5ft 8ins from centre of bullseye to the floor & the toe-line (oche) should be 7ft 9 1/4ins from the face of the board. All the best throwing straight!

Nice, Long live Sky Sports and the PDC. Good to see ITV with the PDC this week, just a shame it was the same week as the Winmau world masters. The BDO is such a bore these days. My parents didnt have Sky either, so back in 1997 I got it in my bedroom via cable.

Yeah, I don't get to fucking watch it either. I want to see Taylor thrashing Barneveld right now. (Well, I'd prefer to see Barneveld absolutely annihilate Phil Taylor, but I'd be happy to see any darts quite honestly). Oh well, at least the purists' choice, the BDO, will be on BBC later this week.
