We have certainly past peak cheap oil. Im not sure about peak of world production, but it doesnt matter. No one will care how much oil has left in the ground when the price is 200$/barrel. Producers have no interest for producing oil below 75$/b, and prices over 90$/b would without any doubt cause another recession. Oil is now 106$/b. There are other factors which impact oil prices (war in Libya, QE 2, etc. ) but thats the reality we live in.

I 100% agree and sympathize with you. As someone in his 40s (and obviously with no kids), I have advocated mandatory birth control since 1980 so people wouldn't be born into a world of hardship.

Don't even dream about getting our energy differently, be it by sunlight or wind. Even electric cars. Our planet is too overpopulated for that. All those "great" innovations take space and time. I will give u simple example: to put a simple airbag outside in front of the cars for pedestrians and bicycles takes 5 years to make that plan come true. Ok, airbags may not be that simple. But they are really simple compared to us stopping our oil oil production and look for alternatives.

Don't forget about the supply of nutrient-rich topsoil that is left (less than 50 years) which has been declining VERY rapidly. Without nutrients, us humans tend to become diseased. great work! now i'm very depressed, but that's usually the case with these subjects. i'm hoping we can get our act together with alternative energy sources/public transportation/slowing down. our society is too fast and cars are the main "vehicle" (no pun intended) for this crazy increase in speed. In Mian Kundera's "Slowness" he talks about how the faster we are going, the more we forget. So we need to slow down, remember why we are here, and start taking care of our planet and ourselves.

Intro is way too long at almost a minute, that constitutes 1/10 of the film - imagine going to a 2 hour movie at the cinema to watch 12 minutes of opening titles! What about narration? Is there no real voice here behind the message? Times will be tough in the future, but was there ever an easy time? I just don't like the way this video was produced. I'm sure the maker could do better with less music and more narration and some real video of the global effects instead of just backdrop video.
