Sometimes I think we get a little jaded, listening to the top 12 of 100,000 singing every year. We start to forget that every single one of them (with some few exceptions) is an amazing singer, whether they win or not.
actually... betty everett did, 11 years before ronstadt covered it on her 1975 double platinum album called "heart like a wheel." deedee warwick was technically first, though betty's version got more notoriety.
ike/tina, the swinging blue jeans (uk), reba, jose feliciano, and elvis costello are the famous non-linda covers.
betty also originated cher's shoopshoop song and deedee, dionne's sister, originated i'm gonna make you love me, and covered "i who have nothing" and "suspicious minds"
I hate it when the judges talk during a performance. Its disrespectful.
