No one is perfect but John MacArthur is legalistic and spends too much time getting specks out of other peoples eyes and forgets the log in his own. He ridicules and mocks others. He has misled many.

A person who doesn't take a stand on anything but money is someone I will always have concerns with. Cut the rest of the details out and see it for what it is. God wants people who live out His convictions not theirs.
When I was newer in my faith walk I listened to Joel briefly but it never caught my attention in any real way. I know that suffering is neccesary to bring about certain attributes that would never be available in any other way. Human beings want to have a fast food approach to faith if they can get it so that they can sleep at night. Not so they can actually live the life required and that is why so many fakes do better than the people teaching the straight scripture as it is.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I have heard some of Joel Osteen's "sermons." I feel that his preaching, or message of prosperity, focuses totally on our life here on earth. He seems content in tellling people how they can achieve earthly desires, mostly on their own. For a time, I believed what he preached.

In the book of James, he says God Himself brings suffering upon His people FOR THEIR GOOD. So yes, God wants us to suffer. God subjected His own sinless, spotless Son to all sorts of suffering, leading up to His death on a cross...and you think God doesn't want YOU to suffer? Stop crying, and understand that it is suffering and affliction that produces in us CHARACTER.

Joyce Meyer is a good bible teacher, her message is completely different from Joel's. Yet they are good friends!! Do we really need sermons that point out the faults of others? I think we need to just preach God's word and get souls saved. Joel Osteen is a humble man and I'm afraid his teachings are being examined in the wrong context. I love Joel Osteen!
P.s. He doesn't just talk about money. He talks about how we can be blessed in every area of our lives. He actually teaches much about bearing the biblical fruits of the spirit(which Jesus himself had). He is teaching us how to live our lives as Christ

Joel Osteen is not a humble man, because he has been confronted many times before by men of God and refuses to repent of his false teachings. Hmmm.....can´t deny most of what McArthur said; specially the part about Satan offering humankind "glory", "riches" and "power"; pretty much EVERYTHING that Osteen preaches and encourages others to do. He's dead-on right on all of that.
However, McArthur should take a closer look at the roots of the belief in a Trinitarian God. Perhaps he, too, will find some fault in his teachings.
There are those who know the true way and those who are easily deceived. Osteen is deceived. MacArthur is not as far as I can tell. The Jesus Words Only Website is a deception and should be avoided. I really admire Pastor MacArthur, he is only one of the hand full of true teachers left, along with myself. Satan did the same thing with the Lord (Matt. ch. 4). Jesus warned that many would distort His teachings to their own destruction and to the destruction of their hearers. Acquaint yourself with the word of God and obey its teachings, and protect yourself from such deception.

In 2 Peter 3:15-18 he says that anybody who is uneducated, and unstable(unfixed) in the Scriptures will twist them to their own destruction, and many in this current generation have, for their own prosperity and get rich quick schemes.

Just because someone calls Jesus their Lord doesn't mean they are true Christians, or that they will make it into the Kingdom of heaven. But only those who do the will of the Father in heaven. Osteen along with many are not doing the Father's will, they are conning God's people and deceiving many. It is this that will lead to the falling away of the faith, as prophesied in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2.

Reverend MacArthur, I believe, is one of the few true ministers out there! He preaches a message synonymous with picking up our crosses and following Christ. I get tired of hearing all of this prosperity teaching. Being a Christian means being "Christ-like", and I know that Christ sure wasn't some rich guy walking around prospering all the time. He suffered in this life, because His treasures were stored up in Heaven, with the Father, so should ours be. God bless ya'll.

I think its sad that he has nothing better to preach about than to belittle a fellow minister. Joel osteen is more of a motivational speaker who incorporates Christian doctrine in his speaches. What is wrong with having a positive attitude and and sharing your joy with others. Christendom is full of preacher gods, and many who follow these gods instead of following Christ also will end in error. Search and seek the Righteous One with all your heart then you'll find him (Jer29:13), or you'll also be tossed to and fro by the wind (Eph4:14) Time is short!
Thank you for posting this. For years I have felt that Mr.Osteen is an apostate and I have been dismayed at the sway he has been able to hold over certain people I love. I hope Mr. McArthur's ministry continues and grows.

When I was newer in my faith walk I listened to Joel briefly but it never caught my attention in any real way. I know that suffering is neccesary to bring about certain attributes that would never be available in any other way. Human beings want to have a fast food approach to faith if they can get it so that they can sleep at night. Not so they can actually live the life required and that is why so many fakes do better than the people teaching the straight scripture as it is.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I have heard some of Joel Osteen's "sermons." I feel that his preaching, or message of prosperity, focuses totally on our life here on earth. He seems content in tellling people how they can achieve earthly desires, mostly on their own. For a time, I believed what he preached.

Do we really need sermons that point out the faults of others? I think we need to just preach God's word and get souls saved. Joel Osteen is a humble man and I'm afraid his teachings are being examined in the wrong context. I love Joel Osteen!
P.s. He doesn't just talk about money. He talks about how we can be blessed in every area of our lives. He actually teaches much about bearing the biblical fruits of the spirit(which Jesus himself had). He is teaching us how to live our lives as Christ

Hmmm.....can´t deny most of what McArthur said; specially the part about Satan offering humankind "glory", "riches" and "power"; pretty much EVERYTHING that Osteen preaches and encourages others to do. He's dead-on right on all of that.
However, McArthur should take a closer look at the roots of the belief in a Trinitarian God. Perhaps he, too, will find some fault in his teachings.

One of the worst heresies preached by many is that the Torah of יהוה has been abolished or done away with, which is in direct opposition against Matthew 5:17-18 and Deuteronomy 4:2;12:32. The Messiah dying for our sins never abolished the Torah, which is what יהוה established as His standard for living a righteous life.

I really admire Pastor MacArthur, he is only one of the hand full of true teachers left, along with myself. I can't even describe how much hate and rejection I get from fellow so called Christians because I actually stand up for the Word of God. Everybody is out for an experience, and just want to hear enough Scripture so they can convince themselves that they are hearing God's Word. Satan did the same thing with the Lord (Matt. ch. 4). Jesus warned that many would distort His teachings to their own destruction and to the destruction of their hearers. Never ever compare yourself to people who call themselves Christians, who in turn compare themselves to people who call themselves Christians. The Bible is our guideline, not people. In 2 Peter 3:15-18 he says that anybody who is uneducated, and unstable(unfixed) in the Scriptures will twist them to their own destruction, and many in this current generation have, for their own prosperity and get rich quick schemes.

@timgirl100 doesn't mean that your a Christian. To preach a half truth, is an untruth. To leave things out so that you don't offend others, is an untruth. The Gospel is offensive, and if people are not getting hurt by it's content, then they are not hearing the real word of God. It is a double edged sword that will hurt(our flesh) when it pierces us, but will bring comfort and healing(to our spirit). Osteen is what Jesus called a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Just because someone calls Jesus their Lord doesn't mean they are true Christians, or that they will make it into the Kingdom of heaven. But only those who do the will of the Father in heaven. Osteen along with many are not doing the Father's will, they are conning God's people and deceiving many. It is this that will lead to the falling away of the faith, as prophesied in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2.

Reverend MacArthur, I believe, is one of the few true ministers out there! He preaches a message synonymous with picking up our crosses and following Christ. I get tired of hearing all of this prosperity teaching. Being a Christian means being "Christ-like", and I know that Christ sure wasn't some rich guy walking around prospering all the time. He suffered in this life, because His treasures were stored up in Heaven, with the Father, so should ours be. God bless ya'll.

I agree with this video, however, I don't think this is a call to Christian asceticism either. That is the " poverty" gospel. That we should willingly throw ourselves into abject poverty " for God's glory". Success is not intrinsically a sin.

I think its sad that he has nothing better to preach about than to belittle a fellow minister. Joel osteen is more of a motivational speaker who incorporates Christian doctrine in his speaches. What is wrong with having a positive attitude and and sharing your joy with others.
