"I finally arrived at my mother's house, but she didn't want to see me. The maids told me she no longer lived there.
As I was leaving, I could feel a pair of eyes watching me from behind,
but I was determined not to turn around. I just wanted to find out what she looked like. Since she wouldn't give me that chance, I wouldn't give it to her either."
@plqskoo you are so right. for me, it was with my father. This movie, helped me get over it, thank god. I don't know how anyone can think this was the greatest moment in movie history
The song being played here is actually "Maria Elena" by Los Indios Tabarajas. The recordings available on itunes aren't exactly the same as the one used for the film, but they're close.
Fantastic movie, how wish there was part2 that never saw the making.

@anotherraybanfan there were. watch 'in the mood for love' and then '2046'. all by the same director.

@ratchadapalazzo I have watched all the movies made by Wong Kar Wai. Alot of it however owes much to Chris Doyle the cinematographer.

I love that scene, the song and the way the pace slows.

I guess you are wrong about the song: it's not "Maria Elena", it's "Always in my Heart" by Los Indios Tabajaras.

They played the part of him walking in the forest at Leslie Cheung's funeral after he killed himself. So tragic and sad :(

I love this scene! Wong Kar-Wai is a aesthetic genius.
Though I must note, the music track is actually entitled, "Always In My Heart" by Los Indios Tabajaras
