@Bladerunner55217 You can print on light polyester with a pretreatment on the shirt. You can print on any part of the shirt as long as its flat. If you are trying to print a continuous image all the way around the shirt then this is probably not the printing method you would want to use. It would involve trying to register two different prints on the front and back, not fun. My guess is that you would want the material printed on before the garment is made.
@mselego Thanks so much. I am allready having a pattern maker make my sample polo shirts . So Because what your telling me I will only have the print company print my front design . Also the back design is just a continued strip thats all. and from you saying that would be a pain then I understand now why so many of shirts in my genre that I am designing have no print on the back either :) Makes sense. Thanks again so much for your help.
The print quality on many of these machines is actually better than sublimation. These units use Epson print heads most of the time which are made for photographic printing. Sublimation uses a gaseous transfer process that is heat activated. Therefore it suffers resolution loss and often doesnt look sharp. The DTG print will fade about 6% on the first wash, much like any transfer process.
People stay away from these machines!! they are nothing but problems!! i purchased a T jet 3 and it ruined my life! the inks are way to much and its problem after problem with the machine! us.screens text support is super half ass, they are crooks too! BEWARE!!!!!
I am new at this, i have been looking for transfer printers on the net and i haven't found any. I would like to know if Is it possible to print transfers straight from a normal Pc printer on any type of paper or does it have to be a specific one?
I will really appreciate if you can help with this
It depends what you are trying to transfer to. For t-shirts they sell all types of iron on papers you can use. The print quality isn't that good but it works. Doesn't wash well at all either. Some artists have tricks for other stuff like wood metal or plastic you can use a color copier and turn the saturation all the way up or use any dye ink based printer make you image backward when you print it out and then tape it in place face down and rub the back with xylene this will transfer the img
There are already people posting plans on how to convert a c88 into a direct to garment printer. Most people who use c88s likely already have one or two set aside that no longer work. Just use one of them to experiment and build your own! Much less than 10 grand!
I'm not the tinkering type unfortunately. But I can follow plans! I'm just waiting for it! Honestly, this is a much nicer machine than what the hobby guys are making. I think the one I've seen actually has the tray moving, instead of the printer.
They are all Epson printers either a 4800 or 4880 the differences I believe between this one and the Tjet is the white ink and this machine uses photoshop to print to the shirt while the Tjet uses their own proprietary software fastartist. If your familiar with Fastfilms it's pretty similar. I went with the T-Jet being that they started this whole industry. I am very happy but of course neither is perfect.
Anything is possible but it would take a lot of work and you probably wouldn't be able to use them for shirts as well as photos if thats what your shooting for.
I would want to see T JEt 3 work in person first. Search youtube for "t jet problems". I found 3 videos people have posted with their machine acting up. The Flexi Jet has a moving printer which has many more advantages than a moving platen.

Go for it. You will definitely learn a lot about ink jet printers in the process.

Good print quality, but I was informed that those printers cannot print on dark colored garments
chipokae1776 5 years ago
Yes they are able to print on dark shirts. It just takes some white ink and a couple of extra passes with the printer.
