Yeah, this is not how I imagined the movie at all. The book had a really dark tone overall, with occasional bursts of dark humor and dry wit. This trailer makes it kind of look like a romantic comedy, the music playing a part in that too.

They made Victor too likeable and relatable in the movie. In the book he was a total asshole and you hated his fucking guts. I still kinda like the movie, but it's nowhere close to how dark and awesome the book is.

The movie is a little different than the book (for instance, he doesn't actually get stoned by those people). DIALOGUE between writers, screenwriters and actors on indie film DVD 'special features' is freaking AWESOME.

@nalome300 I know you poster a year ago, but anyway. IMO, Lullaby was the best book from Chuck that I've read(bad english? I'm getting rusty at it) so far, and after that, Survivor was good and also Invisible Monsters(in that order) and comming last is Diary. So I would say, if you have some free time, go to a book store and read a bit of survivor and see if you like it=)

The book isn't actually meant to be serious, it's meant to be funny in a very cynical kind of way. How can you tell me his whole "Miles High Club" monologue wasn't funny! It's supposed to be funny AND serious. Funny, by the way he describes things, like the "Mile High Club" chapter, but it's meant to be serious because he's just another guy, who's a sexaholic. The part where he tried to save his mother wasn't meant to be funny, it was meant to show Victor's illogical decisions, that he actually believed what Paige said to him. So you're both right. No need for arguing. haha

p.s. you'd have to be absolutely daft, or have not read the book at all to not have picked up on the obvious overtones of dark comedy in choke. in all of palahniuk's work, for that matter. the man is a satirist. the book, which i agree is depressing and morose, is still extremely funny.
