  • Genial

  • when i want to get over my failures and mistakes i listen to this song. Thank you Neurosis!

  • Music that moves mountains

  • @viletree More like music that crushes mountains into diamonds.

  • It warms my heart to read these comments, and others have found this common bond. Neurosis is not a band, it is a religion, possibly the only one i have complete faith in.

  • @EyesofNeurosis I believe Scott would say, that they (like Neurosis) make music, and MUSIC is THE religion. The older I am, the more I start to understand, what they wanted to say with their music.

  • reminds me of WW1 for some reason...

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • GRRR i've been listening to heavy ass stoner rock all night, and i've realised EVERY VIDEO IS 240p :'( this makes me sad!

  • shit, it does not get any more apocalyptic then this shit right here. especially the second half of the song.

  • Thank you for uploading this masterpiece! Damn! I see so many visions in the sound pf this track! Neurosis knew their shit! And still knows their shit!

  • Nero played violin while rom was burning,

Neurosis would play Aeon if the world would be set on fire.

  • @OreillyORLY agreed

  • When i first heard this song, at 4:47 I was like "Yeah, cool, calm part". At 5:30, I had a bad feeling, that something's gonna happen. The feel was getting stronger and stronger. Than that MASSIVE wall of sound at 6:12 came and i was like "Oh my god, sky is falling at me!". It was like watching atomic bomb explode. Scared to death by its power but in a same time amazed. Neurosis are simply the best.

  • this has a slight hint of CONVERGE in this tune ...............not this band but just this song has that drowning converge wash sound i love

  • @InkDropFalls Both Neurosis and Converge have been influenced by quite similar bands, really. Godflesh, Swans, Joy Division, Voivod, it's all there, hence why these bands often have the same kind of fanbase, really

  • the violinist at the beginning is hideously bad, but somehow that makes the atmosphere that much more intense. No idea how they did that, but it's fucking awesome.

  • Savrseno... Bez ostatka.

  • Just listened to this again . . . by the way . . . It's really growing on me . . . I can absolutely see why Gira digs this band . . . the intensity doesn't match his early Swans . . . but nothing does . . . but this is very intense . . . it must, in some way, bring him back to his youth . . . when the anger, rage, hatred was completely unrefined . . . and terrifying . . .

This is good stuff! Do they still perform live?

  • @jubjub2112

Yeah they perform live and it's awesome too! it has been 3 years that i saw them though.

  • @jubjub2112 not trying to be a dick, but the constant " . . . " annoys the shit out of me lol

  • @Disnamesucksass Odd thing to be annoyed at

  • just tarted listening to these guys not too long ago. I don't know what took me so long. I am slowly but surely falling in love with the music

  • @unreined Way to defeat your own argument, fuckwit. Music is for listening to. You can talk about "fundamentals" all you want but I'll just keep listening to music that I enjoy. If that includes vocalists who sing out of key, drummers who are out of time and guitarists who can only play 3 chords then so be it.

  • every band I know that has been influenced by Swans and Killing Joke for instance packs great music;this type of music should be the further evolution of this scene instead of all what promoted nowadays

  • @bloodyrockfire Agreed . . . I am going to see the Swans live this year . . . can't fuckin' wait!!! I was supposed to see Killing Joke at the Hollywood HOB . . . but I had a family obligation that kept me from the show . . . had to give up the tickets!! AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!! Saw Killing Joke a couple of years ago at HOB . . . AWESOME SHOW!!!!! I keep going back to The Death and Resurrection Show . . . cranking it to 11 on my volume nob . . . and blowing my earholes out . . . bad-ass!!

  • awesome...go kings

  • This isn't bad . . . I might have to grow into this band. I do like that they aren't just formulaic . . . and they have a good, heavy sound while understanding the beauty of minimalism . . . Still . . . when I want to hear dark, fucked up music . . . I inevitably turn to the Swans . . . no band before or since has topped them in my book. Listen to their first album Filth . . . and then Cop . . . and then Greed. It will crush your brains

  • @jubjub2112 OMG THE SWANS ARE THE HEAVIEST BAND EVER! THANK YOU! I THINK OTHER NEUROSIS FANS WOULD LOVE THE SWANS.

  • @xraydelta1 Excellent!! I figured you would dig the Swans . . . just fucking amazing music!! And I agree . . . I can't imagine a fan of Neurosis NOT loving the Swans . . . I actually discovered Neurosis because it is one of the bands Michael Gira likes (he is the lead singer and force behind the Swans). I don't know where you are located . . . but the Swans just got back together and are touring!! Now, mind you, their music isn't as heavy as it used to be . . . but it is every bit as

  • @xraydelta1 fucked up and disturbing. Gira has never stopped making music . . . he just did so through other projects (Angels of Light, for instance) . . . which is why the new Swans album doesn't suffer from what so many other reunited bands new albums suffer from . . . a dearth of creativity . . . and virtually no passion or soul . . . this is simply an continuation of his journey! I am so fucking amped to see them live!!!! Anyway . . . glad you dig the Swans . . . turn others on!!

  • @unreined No it doesn't. Song-writing, structure and soul are what matters. You can be the most talented musician in the world but if you can't write or arrange the notes or put any feeling in it then you're worthless.

  • @1978deus I'm a worthless human because i cant write any song since im 16 years old. Use other words next time please.

By the way, right, song is "technicaly" easy.

  • @WitcherRage Yes, you would be worthless AS A MUSICIAN if you couldn't put feeling into a song OR write/arrange notes [which is what he said].

Develop some reading comprehension skills before bitching at other people's word choices.

  • @veryboredpug He would be some musician if he had talent etc. But not a true artist. He would be only a pathetic actor. Feeling is the most important "skill" that honest and true artist needs to have.

But you can't be an honest musician if you can't write and play what you hear in your head. That's my definition of being an artist, to play what's inside your soul.

  • i just found this band, and man... i just bought 4 of their albums already online, i been listening to videos on youtube here all day, i love their stuff, so many styles of creativity

  • I heard about this band and was expecting some generic metal shit but figured I'd give them a chance, fortunately I was pleasantly surprised. I know what I'm going to be listening to for the next couple months.

  • Technicality means NOTHING. Look at Steve Vai

  • wtf are you talking about here ? Is it so important who is better ? Just listen

  • Yeah I tried to introduce this band, to an open mind girl I am friends with. She is more into girl bands like Hole, and the Detroit Cobras, and of course loves the Vaselines and Heartless Bastards. She couldn't get Neurosis at all, and at one point I think she was utterly scared of this band. She thinks Tool is deep and moving music, and yet thinks this is to much for her lol.

  • from 6:26 on = victory. Your arms outstretched. letting it all in. You are on a mountain. Listen only when you do something great.

  • I spelled Neurosis playing Scrabble today. If I didn't listen to this band I don't think think I would have made that word. Thanks Neurosis.

  • @LifeUnderTheSwatter after reading that I feel my life is complete

  • I love this band. I really like their first album "pain of mind". They had that crusty punk sort of sound. Then they just transformed into something that was more than just music.

  • @mixolydian671 yeah, but this record has a nice crustpunk-sound too, but it has a ton of layers on top of it, it´s huge.

  • my favorite Neurosis song

  • "All generous minds have a horror of what are commonly called "Facts". They are the brute beasts of the intellectual domain."

  • Holy shit man im stoned right now and i just heard this song for the first time. . . 4.00 through 4.30 is tha awesomest shit. neuosis and mastodon. yes.

  • The end riff makes me cry everytime, it's so fucking powerful

  • Dude, this has to be one of the sickest intros ever!

  • @JohnCarpenterPro excellent appraisal... this comes from what Zero knowledge and appreciation for dark ambient metal?

  • This song is interesting as it ends on lighter note than the other tracks of the album. The landscape that is painted before me when listening to this is one of chaos and despair, you feel as if having trudged through mud for eons. Mankind is marred by conflict, fear and hopelessness, however, at the climax at the end you get this feeling of awe and transcendence, the notion that we can evolve.

This track is the "Also Sprach Zarathustra" for a more cynical and disenchanted 21st century.

  • Boner? must get this record

  • Beginning sounds like a gloomy version of stairway to heaven.

  • man i love how it starts out. it really sets the rest of the song up.

  • I think anything with some relativity to Neurosis is fucking awesome.

  • My favorite thing about Neurosis is that it takes a special kind of person to get it. The music not only touches the soul, but completely embodies it and becomes one with it.

  • @hatepooper69 you tell truth.

  • @hatepooper69 dang so we only 13% cool guys, listen to them AHHHHH!

  • @hatepooper69 sldjfasdfjasdf pretentious pretentious pretentious pretentious. "It takes a special kind of person to GET the depth of this super super deep music." It's fucking atmospheric sludge, dude. They're awesome but goddammit. This is why I never talk to metal fans.

  • I'm already a fan of their music, but hadn't heard any song from that album except for Locust Star. Aeon... amazing song, I'm really astonished! :-O

  • from 8:30 and on it's somehow the best part

  • Doom metal rules!!! Neurosis is the best!!!

  • This is what Pink Floyd would sound like if they were Death Metal.

  • This isn't death metal... and I personally think they would sound more like Opeth... But I can see where you're coming from...

  • pink floyd death metal wouldn't sound like opeth, because pink floyd is too much like atmospheric stoner music, kind of like this.

  • Ya, but im referring more to progressive rock/acoustic side of floyd. I can see where you are coming from though. This shit rules, weather or not it sounds like pink floyd death metal.

  • agreed

  • Opeth may not be as atmospheric as Pink Floyd, but they still are very atmospheric by any prog metal/death metal standard.

  • You are absolutely right but if they were doom not death... the best song they have ever recorded!! let it play in a dark room and enjoy...

  • must see live...

  • \m/ Through Silver and Blood gave me so many sonic orgasms. My ears came white-noise.

  • einzigartig! einfach großartig! man kann nur den größten Respekt vor der Band haben! einzigartig!!

  • A LA VERGA!

    These guys are the shit!

    Better than fuckin' fuck!

Thanks for share, really really good shit.

    Cheers.

  • When oh when are these gods gonna be in Europe next????

  • the ending gives the chills.

  • Best song of Neurosis, together with 'Through Silver in Blood'.

  • the verses are the best parts! but neurosis have that quality that their soundscapes in itself are great and unique! but when they really strikes like here! IT` S DOOMSDAY!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Best album and best song by Neurosis.

  • this song is unrelenting, when it finally gets going.

  • i remember back when i was 15, at my first job,a friend of mine had me listen to the album Enemy of The Sun, been a huge fan ever since.. i hope these guys never stop making music.

  • does anyone know what the four chord progression is at the end

  • good listening, great climat

  • Look, I love Mastodon and Isis and Jesu , et al...But Neurosis is just on a whole other level all together. Neurosis is so good , that bands that are influenced by them are already amazing before they even play a note. Thats' how good these guys are. Just owning their records makes you 87% cooler...

  • Neurosis > Isis,

Isis is all cool and shit, but Neurosis just goes deeper, it is more challenging and very passionated.

I got a huge amount of respect for these guys.

  • I agree with you 100%

  • @blotchy67 87% cooler you actually are hitting a good point there; music owned/have says alot about a person ^_^ Check out Lycia, Distance & Diary of Dreams; this song is quite dreary so seemed sorta fitting. Lycia being the Ultimate bridge band of all transient forms of soundscapes to Nirvana, Nebula's Galaxies etc T.p.W.

  • @blotchy67 Dude no. Just no.

They did a study, and turns out, (Excluding of course, France and Canada) Owning their records only makes you 86.35% cooler. Sorry bro, it's the truth.

    ;D lol.

  • @blotchy67

Got damn! LMAO! Now that's what the hell I'm talking about!!!

  • @blotchy67 lmao nice

  • @blotchy67 im tempted to say mastodon are better musicians. then again, i haven't heard everything neurosis has done like i have with mastodon.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 mastodon are better musicians and I love mastodon, but that doesn't make them better than Neurosis. What Neurosis lacks in technical ability, they make up for in pure power and emotion. I mean...What's better music, the first 6 Black Sabbath records or Dream Theater's catalog?

  • @blotchy67 well i mean, i'm not arguing who is better because that is simple opinion. but usually when i talk about bands being on different levels, musicianship plays a good part in there.

  • @blotchy67 Hmm, that depends, I think...I personally like Black Sabbath's frst six and DT's first six around the same, not because of the technicality in them (which isn't a bad thing I don't think) but because of the emotion behind them. Dream Theater used to make really profound and emotional music, but since then they've become obsessed with being as progressive and technical as possible, and they've gone really down hill

  • me gusta esta musica !1 muy buena banda

  • f'n a man, f'n a

  • well i like PanterA and neurosis, and other styles of metal 2, viking/pagan such as ensiferum and stoner/sludge such as electric wizard. Why does no1 else appreciate varieties of music?

  • I listen to every style that isn't draggy, whiny, or "sad".. Since you have "diverse" tastes, check out a few of these bands.. Sleep The Sword T.S.O.L. Satyricon Acid Bath Demoniac Necrophagist Odious Mortem Brain Drill If you don't know em, you ought to, all are talented, and awesome.
  • sweet, you mentioned sleep already.

  • this was the first Neurosis song i heard..and the one with i falled in love with 'em...i'll never stop to love it!

  • neurosis is nothing like any of those bands you mentioned nor are they metal......

  • Actually Neurosis is Progressive Sludge/Post-Hardcore/Tribal/Ambient Metal(later)

    Hardcore punk (early).

  • you know shit about neurosis...all these bands are completely different from neurosis! what neurosis and necrophagist have in common ffs? what neurosis have to do with death metal??

  • the bands you just named, are horrible and only retarded faggots listen to them. BAH Pantera, get the hell out of here. Neurosis blows every single one of them away

  • yes neurosis is awesome...but...metal is too

just cause you like one kind of music does not mean you can talk shit about other kinds....

  • Primus?????!!!!! You're having a laugh, mate, if you think Primus could hold a candle to Neurosis. As for the other bands...MAYBE Pantera because they have had a huge influence on a bunch of bands. Those are all death metal bands anyways. Nobody in the world sounds like Neurosis. All the death metals bands sound exactly the same. They all sound like Cannibal Corpse. Gojira is the only band that is doing anything different at this point in the death metal realm.

  • Not true, I'm not really sure where the line draws (When a band is DMetal) but "Decapitated" is quite unique as is "Red Harvest and Meshuggah and Gorerotted.

  • Sorry the last two weren't DMetal.

  • If you think Gojira is the only death metal band doing anything new you're not looking hard enough. Go listen to Gorod, Psycroptic and Gnostic.

  • And Meshuggah

  • obzen is friggin awesome

  • FUCK YES I LOVE YOU!!!!

  • Fuck Mastodon...

Aeon is the beginning and the end, First Light...Last Light.

  • ...ehh Mastodon has some good songs...but that doesn not mean you can say shit about them...

  • As long as the criticism is constructive.

Otherwise it will only piss people off, which is very unnecessary.

  • Superb tune for a monster album.

    Best metal band.

  • This song is mental. Neurosis never cease to blow me away.

  • Shut up faggot.

  • Get off of Neurosis's cock and learn to appreciate other bands. This band is the shit, but when you say shit like "fuck Mastodon" your just showing your ignorance.

  • Jak ta lala

  • Ah how I long to see this performed live again.

  • Look you gay ass faggot bitch,DONT LOOK UP A BAND YOU DONT LIKE AND COMMENT THE PAGE WITH GAY SHIT!

  • well thats a first...... is that supposed to be a joke? i dont think ive ever heard anyone say that green day or trivium are anywhere near neurosis.... ...your ignorance is amusing

  • LOL GREEN DAY HAHAHAHAHAHA FAGGOT!!!

  • Don't feed the troll, please.

  • Oh so NOW the Mastodon fans get it lol

  • So THIS is where Mastodon gets their inspiration for those epic songs.

  • goddamned...there f*ckin'awesome..what a great song..Neurosis RULES!!

  • whoa o: i found this song while looking for the song Aeon By Eternal Tears Of Sorrow but i love this song now :DD haha

  • in case of any misunderstanding: You,We,Us,Our,does not= I(Me)

  • your species(just ants really in this stage)has a long way to go before you can even begin to understand the nature of the universes-but what you say and do are still important aspects for that which you leave behind as others who came before us have done will not go unnoticed-its a learning process that in the minds eye of your species can seem slow....remember the universes are always changing shape while your bodies remain fixed in the third dimension(soon to change)

  • the quest for knowledge is just another aspect of human greed.... don't deny it....

  • no it isnt-but it can be.......thats up to you

  • "no it isnt" is just an opinion... i believe that it is. who knows which one of us is right, or both of us

  • Comment removed

  • Also.. this song is amazing! Ha

  • modern society is BASED off of the quest for knowledge. technology itself IS the quest for knowledge, and technology has been the basis for human survival since the dawn of mankind. It's really a shame that humans have become so reliant on discovery and science, when a few indigenous tribes are still able to realize the beauty in simplicity, which is essentially what this song is about. I'm not saying technology is a bad thing, but as a species, we've come to use it as a crutch.

  • It's true, society has now evolved to the point where technology is a crutch. Most realize, yet ignore it. It's beyond me.. when inevitably it slowly all breaks down only those who know how to will survive. I think it is still a long way off yet, but the smartest thing we can do for ourselves is to learn to live off our land. I've began my journey already, have learned much and still have a longer road ahead. What long-term hope is there here in this society? I have hope in a new simple one :)

  • well said ! =]

  • im totally with you there. its like what serj tankian said, about civilization being "over", and rather than trying to save it, we should be looking forward and creating the future instead. neurosis and isis and all of the post-metal community are part of a new ideology which expands on the unknown, but we havent quite reached that unknown yet, i think.

  • All I have and want in my life, is my motorbike, stereo and enough money for a beer at the weekend.

  • so where did you get the computer to write this on?

  • shop?... what's that gotta do with anything? I don't care whether or not, I have a computer.

  • Enjoy living in squallor, dude.

    I'ma play xbox.

  • If you're happy, squallor doesn't matter.

  • i just read the lyrics to both bands juxtaposed......Neurosis= true human beings searching for truth- Aeon=confused human(s)who think our species have the capacity to dictate truth-(in the relative context concerning the age of the earth we (humans)are just a middle species of what has come before and what is to come after(time is an illusion)our species will die off and many more will come after us and die off(the earth is still relatively young)for aeons... and...aeons-hence the song title....

  • your mind is restricted-thoughts are never your own-your mind is a trap-its time to purge your brain-no question at all-theyve constructed the wall-but you had the bricks-fighting against the way weve been conditioned is the pain of life and mind.....the more we see-the more we know-the more we cant seem to find-

  • did you even listen to the song or read any of their lyrics? you have eyes and ears-do you even bother to use them before infecting everyone around you with imprudent ignorance? you are a plague of this world-

  • we blame others for the problems that we create for ourselves-to scared to look inward for the fear of seeing what we see in them-neurotic symptoms appear as we hide from the truth-a pattern forms and becomes rule-our lives become a host to the parasite-rewards of compulsion that only satisfy the mental cancer that infects-those who deny what the self reflects-look inside-and find the strength to face reality without fear-look to yourself and you will see-the evidence is clear-

  • You're actually aware that they actually pretty much formed their own genre of music, post-metal, which really no relation to emo music whatsoever. They infuse hardcore punk and doom metal to create a more atmospheric sound. Not only that, they're actually quite popular within the sludge and alternative metal scenes.

  • i dont really listen to aeon but dont they always talk shit bout god and jesus on all their songs

  • what the hell are you talking about?

Neurosis have their own religion, but they have their own private religions, every single member of them, which comes through as their music. Listening to albums like "A Sun That Never Sets" is a religious experience... man, listen to "From The Hill" off that album. I feel like i'm rising up to kiss the lips of God.

  • What makes you think God's letting you kiss his lips? He's more likely sticking his ass through the clouds for you to kiss his hole.

  • "i dont really listen to aeon but dont they always talk shit bout god and jesus on all their songs"

Asshat, this band is Neurosis, not Aeon. pay a little attention before posting. Did you not happen to notice the giant f#$king album cover on the screen that says Neurosis?

  • this stuff is immortal! fucking awesome

  • What a talented drummer...

  • bloody immense.
