Oh, one other thing. I just love Hucklberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Peter Potamus, and all the classic Hanna-Barbera toons; but here's another of my favorites -- none other than Woody Wodpecker with that classic laugh! (Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha!)
gGreat! Thanks for posting! I have on VHS the closing sequence to the Huckleberry Hound show in color, where Mr. Jinks is driving the car with Huck sitting on the hood and Pixie & Dixie in the back seat. The 2 hitchhikers are Yogi Bear and Boo Boo! When the meeces fall out of the car Huck runs back and catches them.
Kinda sad, when you think in 30 more or so years ,no one will be around who actually watched it on tv in 1958. Im not sure all this valuable info on the postings will be around for referance, alot of info is from people who worked on these or were involved in some way with the making of these cartoons.
@1952kid Look ! Daws Butler, Don Messick, Hal Smith (a.k.a. Otis Campbell from "The Andy Griffith Show") George O'Hanlon, and most important of all Alan Reed and the great Mel Blanc will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN for giving personalities to these pen & ink personas that will always be a part of American culture even at the end of this century.
See, everyone, how could anyone know Huckleberry Hound was BLUE! We didnt get a color tv till 1972, By that time i was 20, and just in the last year or so, found out he was blue.
The "Corn Flakes" rooster is better known as "Cornelius"; "Smaxey the Seal" was featured on boxes of "Sugar Smacks" until "Quick Draw McGraw" replaced him in 1960. In the syndicated reissue of the closing credits (after Kellogg's finally ended their sponsorship in 1966), Huck's co-stars replaced the Kellogg icons...
@fromthesidelines These are great memories to all of us "late" baby boomers. and thanks for so well chronicling them. Hanna & Barbera were not just great cartoonists, but brilliant marketers. Kelloggs, Welch's (The Flintstones) profited greatly in the early 1960's from their association with these men.
1958 , man i was 6 then, perfect timing. I remember this well, and ate my cornflakes too. It was on after school. 51 years ago. Colonel Bleep, Spunky and Tadpole too. My most treasured memories as a child,it was great.

This is the 1959 ending. This is the year that H-B enterprises became Hanna-Barbera Productions. Too bad this was sped up.
