Does anyone know where this was recorded? Who was the lady that announced them? Those guys sure put on a great show. I feel strange in saying that the new bands feel/seem so "produced" because D&K were VERY "produced." Lots of logistics and strategics went into every album & concert tour.....but there is just something different between modern Christian groups and those of D&K's era. I do miss those days.
I'm totally Envious of anyone who had the chance to see them live in Concert, especially in their prime... I unfortunately wasn't even born until 87...
The song 'Every Moment' really spoke to me when I was in high school. Nothing was going right and I was considering suicide, heard the verse, "I thank GOD for the good times, every moment of my life!" There was such JOY in that song!! It really opened my eyes and now 20 yrs. later I can now say, "When this life is over, I'll be satisfied, I thank GOD for the good times, every moment of my life!!" =) Thanks for inspiring us fellow song writers and musicians Dana. You'll be missed!! =(
Dana is a descendant of Francis Scott Key. These were the Dove awards. It may have been the one where dc Talk made the wise crack about renaming themselves 3him cause 4Him was winning all the awards.
I heard a rumour that Jesus came in a dream to each DeGarmo and Key. He told them "Behold the mullet, you shall wear it in thy name". So thats why they both have mullets
anyone know if Dana Key made any vids for his album "The Journey"? only disc of his I have *cry* signed though so that makes it even more special to me
This is the band that inspired me to get into music. As a matter of fact, Tommy Cathey was the reason I chose bass. I had the pleasure of meeting with these guys several times. They are great people. I miss them and wish that they were still around. Kudos to you for sharing this and to Tommy for being so "cool".
holy cow memories saw the pledge tour 87 or 88? i was just 8 or 9 i went with my dad and we stopped and talked to dana he was jetting for the bus and we passed him on our way to the car nice guy i still remeber that night all those years ago DC Talk opened up for the remember when they did rap? they did that night i think that was their 1 st tour.
I believe you. How is Dana's Church doing? I was going through Memphis several months ago to take my famly to the zoo. We were gonna go to the Church where he pastors but my son became ill so we didn't make it. I love to hear Dana speak/preach almost as much as sing. D&K wrote very uncompromising lyrics and had such a focus in thier ministry and they rocked while doing it. awesome!
@eden512, if you are still reading, please accept all of our condolences on the loss of your uncle. He was a wonderful, godly man - so full of talent and great things! These guys led so many people to a real relationship with Christ and i know that Dana is face to face with Jesus now, which is wonderful for him but hard for us. I am so grateful to get to watch these vids again, DeGarmo and Key were amazing and trailblazers!!
coolness! I met him at Impact Zone in vancouver circa 1994. Fantastic show and I doubt he remembers but I gave him a dog tag with a relgious msg on it :)
Man, they were the BOMB. Saw em live ONCE at Cornerstone 86 and I still got their live version I bootlegged of "Casual Christian" burning my mp3 player out. I hope they will do a reunion tour someday
I LOVE LOVE LOVE DEGARMO AND KEY!!! i was so excited when i saw they had videos on here! i used to watch their music videos when i was a kid growing up.. these songs bring back great memories and they were an awsome band of portraying how awsome God truly is!
Thanks, man! Brings back memories of the late 80's...I was the drummer in a house metal band for a Christian coffee house our church had for the youth & singles and along with a bunch of Stryper, WhiteCross songs, we also did D&K's Every Moment, Destined to Win, Don't Stop the Music and one other D&K I can't remember the name of!
Someday (hopefully within the next few months) I'll try and get the VHS concert footage I made converted to digital and I'll try and post for you all!

On Sunday, Dana Key entered into the gates of Heaven at the age of 56 following the rupture of a blood clot.
