  • my new ringtone!!! :)

  • Amazing music! brings back great memories! Thanks again for posting this!

  • 0:13 - Flying monkey on fire!

  • memories, memories, memories!

  • William Conrad was the Man, his narration and this hip music, plus the fliming, all made this classic show, the best nature program of its time.

  • Does anyone remember a show, maybe on CBS, about Africa that had like a wooden xylophone song at the beginning? I think it was on Sunday evenings?

  • Thanks for uploading this. I really missed it.

  • BLAST FROM THE PAST!!! I remmeber as a kid sitting on the floor in front of the TV with my brother with that theme playing!

  • Every theme and logo bumper in the 70s was played on a Moog. LOVE IT.

  • This music was written by my grandmother, Beatrice Witkin. She worked in electronic music, and this sounds like an example of her early synthesizer stuff.

  • The opening music was great. It had this tribal, primal planet of the apes feel to it. The END music was totally James Bondish and Peter Gunn.

  • I would love to get this series on video. Does anyone know how to find it, I have looked long and hard and found nothing but the books.

  • YouTube is my T.A.R.D.I.S. <3

  • this is not how it starts - ur missin about 7.4 seconds of the intro - where is the cats that chases the prey n the elephanhts that waves the trunks and ears in the air - luv the music though

  • @nullthesilence I also was freaked out by the music, but I like it that way!!!

  • I remember this. Thanks so much for putting it up. Cool song too.

  • i use to watch this as a kid. never forget it. This show got me addicted to watching animals documentaries and collecting all sorts of animals books. I Love animals

  • Where can I download this series!? Anda wre can a bye the dvd of all chapters?

  • Haven't seen this intro in years. Ahh, the memories!

  • Yeah this is awesome. I never forgot that song either since I was a kid. Once in a while it keeps popping into my head and I keep wondering, what was that show? I mistakenly thought it was the Mutual of Omaha (KFC's Colonel Sanders!), but of course, memory was more entertaining than fact. I still remember a second or two of the original video along with the music (getting mixed with other similar songs I've heard from that time). So glad you posted this.

  • EXCELLENT!!! Haven't seen this series since 1981-almost three decades!!! I hope they put this series out on DVD one day!!! Love the eerie jungle percussion!!! My favorite episodes were "Tigers Of Kanha", "Tarantula", and "Strange Creatures Of The Amazon"(Tarantulas, piranha, and caiman alligators in the same episode-Gottal love that!!! That's like Joker, Penguin, and Two-Face in the same episode of Batman!!!).

  • I think it's a beautiful theme song and the ending is a great one too, somebody on college radio said who the composer was but of course I forgot.

  • I still have this song going through my head from time to time. It might have come on TBS or something when I was little, growing up in Atlanta. I'm glad you posted this.

  • Oh, wow! Anyone out there remember when WGBH Channel 2 Boston had "Doctor Who" at 7:00 PM and "Wild, Wild World of Animals" at 7:30? Best hour of TV ever!

  • Does anyone know how to find these show. I have the music from one episode in my brain and would Love to find the show. Please HELP

  • I'm 34 and remember this show vividly. It changed my life forever.

  • I remember the music but not the name of the show! Just knew it was a nature program that was on around the same time as The Six Million Dollar Man. That eerie intro has been in my head since the early 70's. Nice to hear it again.

  • God Almighty!! I'd totally forgotten about this until seeing it now. Wow!!

  • Where I lived, they were still showing this program in the late 1980s! I always thought this music was beyond creepy. Didn't they show this program on Sunday evenings? I am 39 and remember the theme song very clearly...it souds just like I remembered it!

  • Brilliant, haunting, and chilling...This and the end song have it!

  • @scorpiorooster I agree wih you. I was about 3 yo and my dad would watch this program. He enjoys animal/nature shows. I was too small to recall an episode but I remember the theme vividly.

  • I am always waiting for the show to begin it's secondary intro with William Conrad's Mount Rushmore voice at the end of the theme song. Need only a split second of tv time to bring you back when your channel surfing. My favorite show on when nightfall fell on a Sunday.

  • I think that it is worth watching to keep you acupied a little for entertainment

  • HOW CAN I GET THIS MUSIC?!?!?!? It's been haunting me for 30 years!! Does anyone know how to find, buy, have, and privately savor this music?

  • A great show, but when I was a kid...I thought the music was VERY CREEPY!

  • WOOOOOOOW. i got a flashback of this show (not LSD-induced, wasnt *that* kind of a 70s flashback!) the other day, finally remembered to look for it and Voila! some angel posted all these great bits... (the internet is slowly regaining my respect.)

suddenly i'm sitting indian-style on my parents' shag carpet, 3 ft from the big-ass sceen on our even-bigger wood-frame television, eyes & mouth wide wide wide for the Wild Wild World! love it. thank you for posting these. :)

  • Incredible!!!!!! A wonderful memory from my childhood. 5 stars

  • MY GOSH! I cannot believe I found this music! Its been at least 30 years! Since I remeber this theme music! Remeber those days when my dad loved watching this show in the 70's! I was maybe around 7 yrs old. Im almost 40 yrs NOW!

  • Me too fuel. I faintly remember sitting with my dad and watching this program when I was 4-5 yrs old. 35 here.

  • Awesome intro to an awesome show. R.I.P. William Conrad. Gotta love the 70's. One of the best eras for television in the U.S. and Japan.

  • You said it, "religiously". I used to have my mom remind me whenever it was supposed to come on. Love the tune. Oh, the memories.

  • A big thanks for this intro... in South America the title for this amazing show was translated as "El salvaje y sorprendente mundo de los animales"... and I thought that I never would see this opening or listening that music again in my life.

    Kind regards from Chile,

    Alejandro

  • I used to think this show was gold when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, back before there was any Animal Planet or Nat Geo & Discovery Channels. Love this show, love this opening theme, it's the first time I've heard it in almost three decades! Brings back the memories!!

  • A more mystifying hymn everytime you hear it... anyone out there know to get this for a ringtone..... mfresh1965

  • i watched this when i was so young. great show.

  • Always liked this better than "Wild Kingdom". The theme was crazy cool and William Conrad was a much better narrator than Marlin Perkins could ever be.

  • Great Post. Does anyone have the "World of Survival" Series with John Forsythe narration?

    Its been impossible to find.

  • What a great intro to a show. Good wildlife footage. I think I may even have vague recollections of watching this show in the distant past...or perhaps my memory is playing tricks on me.

  • I remember being a little kid and changing the channel when this show came on becuase the intro was so creepy.

I'd always try to flip back and catch the outro music though.

Been trying to find it online for years... thanks to whoever posted it!

  • this was nagging at me all day and IM glad at this the intro and end are on. do you remember the episode they did on reptiles? THAT was creepy ass shit!:) at least it was for me way back when.

  • Funny you say that, I am 28 and I used to be scared too when this intro would come on. The bad thing tho is that this show came on at 10:30 pm at night and my parents used to watch it. Can you imagine hearing that before your bedtime when you are like 6? LOL!

  • I could'nt even remember the name of this show

it's been so many years (I remembered the music though).

I had to search wild-life shows of the 1970s

to discover the name of this show in the

hopes it was here on youtube.

Such a cool theme; awesome to hear again

    after 30+ years!

  • Does anybody remember the name of the animal show that ran in the late 70's that used a cool orchestra version of 'Jesu joy of mans desiring' as its theme?

  • ohman, what a great tune. i used to watch this with my parents ever since i was about 2. both themes, the intro and the closing were big influences on me. certainly does bring back memories. you said it right, that crazy horn and the odd time lo fi background. a great song a great recording. the closing theme is so peter gunn. also very visual. great stuff. thanks for posting.

  • I've never forgotten this song. Even though I couldn't remember exactly how it went that horn and the strange background piece are so unique. Wow, this brings back memories. Thanks for posting. This is good.

Someone posted they thought it was 1983-84 this was on. I thought it was in the 70's??

  • Happy to share. It definitely premiered in the 70's and was shown regularly then but also turned up much later.

  • my sister and i would get up and dance the we thought indigineous people danced and my dad would clap his hands, and dance with us too...sigh...what a trip down memory lane!!

ps. i do remember a cheetah or some kind of predatory animal totally chasing down a deer or gazelle, totally remember that!

  • i remember the voiceover saying something like, ".....so is the wild wild world of animals." dude, what i'd GIVE to hear that man's voice!

  • i'm totall tripping out, i can't believe that i am hearing this again after all these years....crazy!!!!

  • man, thisisit!!..thank god for the internet huh? I probably would've never seen or heard this again. Awesome post, this music just puts me in a weird hypnotic state, like i get frozen in a trance and teleported to 83-84 as a kid!! Ahh, those were the years my friends! Can you post at least one whole episode? Man, just to hear Conrad's narration again! THis was a REAL nature show..screw animal planet and discovery channel w/their exploitative shennanigans!!

  • funny, i feel the same way. i was also born in 75 (assuming u were too from ur name). i never forgot this tune though i hadnt heard it in over 20yrs. it wasnt loud and over the top like most things today but rather mysterious and subtle. very surreal.

  • Thank you for this! I've been looking for that Bill Burred show. Was that the Audubon one? Or was it 'Animal world'? or what? I'm pretty sure I googled it but didn't find anything.

  • Thank you for the posting this video! I seem to recall another program that was similar in format that was on just before or just after WWofA. It had a simple flute/percussion melody for a theme that, I will assume, was an African melody of some sort. The end of the program would fade out with some left to right bar graphics "wipe." I can't recall the name of the program or whether is was actually a program at all. Thanks again.m-

  • It almost sounds like you're talking about the show I've been trying to remember - i'm thinking it was 'Audubon' something and that the theme was flute playing a melancholy Jobim-like melody. I'd love to hear it again. It haunts me. I can't find it. Anybody???

  • I never missed this show as a kid. It was on 7-8 pm on PBS (channel 2) when I was a kid living in Massachusetts. Oh, the memories.

  • @misterRDF YES Same here It came on after Doctor Who

  • This. Rocks.

I watched the show, but that opening theme stuck with me for decades thereafter.

  • Thanks for posting this!!! I always looked foward to watching this show after supper as a kid. Loved the music, too

  • Why did you hate this with a passion? what is wrong with animals? I loved this.

  • I was eight when I first saw this show, for some reason I remember a cheetah running down a gazelle. Does any else remember the cheetah part?

  • I use to run to the television to watch this show. I have not heard this song, or seen this intro for more than 20 years. MEMORIES!

  • I seem to remember one of the network O&O's in New York airing this in the mid-1970's in the 7:30 P.M. time slot. Just can't remember which one (WABC-TV, perhaps, alternating with such mainstays as "Match Game PM" and the syndicated Peter Marshall "Hollywood Squares" - or was it WCBS-TV, alternating with the likes of "The Muppet Show"?).

  • I remember this show vividly. It came on Channel 11 in Chicago at 5:30 everyday in the mid to late 80's. Now I think they air the Lehrer newscast in that time slot

  • Even though I remember hating this program with a passion, the music is nice to hear again.

  • That music sounds like a Tarzan-style porno movie to me. It freaks me out!

  • Una nueva serie acerca de la conducta y sobrevivencia animales.

  • This music sounds like the kind of music that cavemen and women would listen to when making love.I can't explain it myself it just sounds like it.

  • Could you suggest any cavemen foreplay music?

Me and me woman feel so primitive

  • That music was some scary shit as a child.

  • i remember this coming on channel 11 afternoons after school. man i feel old.

  • funny lol

  • Excellent!!

  • Great stuff, love2register! I totally overlooked this gem.

  • I remember watching this! That trippy music sucked you in!

  • Dude! I've been looking for this off and on for about 5 years!

    A HUUUUGE THANX!!!

  • Wow, that brought back memories... Thanks! Love the ending music too! Thanks man.

  • This used to come on at 7:30 on Channel 2 right after Doctor Who from Monday-Friday. I think this is a rarer opening as I do not recall the hollowing wolf

  • Can you also post the closing theme music from "Wild, Wild World of Animals"?

I tried to find this t.v. series on VHS or DVD. No luck @ finding it.

    Chrisven
