I was surprised to read the warning for women about chanting this. Maybe in more ancient times this was true? I think there must be something to this - because it does feel like this is a "yang" chant (masculine in nature), but I truly wonder if women should not chant this.. I 've heard that the Gayatri is universal - it is a chant to the Universal Mother, and it has no religious affliliation at all. ..therefore, it seems it should be for everyone, regardless of sex, religious affliliation.

@musics4Rsoul I don't know if women and so called -low castes were allowed to chant this originally. They MUST definitely be allowed to NOW. Things change with time and they must. This is how Hinduism survived test of times.

Wow... never heard of the hormone imbalance properties of this chant for women... but after chanting it probably 5,000 times in the last month -- curiously my cycle is off, i'm having a few other symptoms of something amiss... and my doctor said my hormones are certainly out of kilter.

Does anyone know of a chant that positively influences the female hormones? I'm not ready to give up the Gayatri... but it sure is auspicious. Clearly powerful...

This video has one of the best pronunciation and puases compared to all other audios and videos out there. The varenyam can be stretched out a little bit as recommended in vedas, but other than that its perfect. Gayatri mantra needs to be chanted pausing at 5 places, and this audio does it correctly. Great upload!

Hi Marius, to ancient scholars, if she is at the menopause stage she is ok to chant this. But there was a time, when ONLY Brahmin priests were allowed! Some felt women (and non-Brahmins) didn't have equal righy and women were already the epitome of Shakti.

In modern times, millions around the world, of both sexes (soul is sexless)chant; as many feel in Kali Yuga, the restrictions of chanting this have been removed.

This is the Ultimate Mantra. This mantra can work wonders in all spheres of one's life if chanted at least 108 times daily. The best times are Dawn(form one hour before sunrise to an hour after sunrise), High Noon (about 11.30am - 12.30pm) and Dusk (from an hour before sunset to about 30 minutes after sunset). This mantra has saved my life more than once.

The best way is to try to chant along while looking at the words. Then try doing it with your eyes closed every once in awhile

Break the chant into 4 pieces: Om~Suvaha;Tat~Varenyam;Bhargo~­Dimahi;Dhiyo~Prachodayat. It is a very rhythmic chant. You will get it in no time.
