If Tim leaves I think they'll need to rename the group. Gold City just isn't Gold City without Tim Riley. That's why he basically had to come back or watch what he built continue to fall apart. He's got drawing power by himself. And with all due respect to Chris he's no Tim Riley, he's not even close in my honest opinion. The best guy to take over would be Jeff Chapman but I doubt he'd leave the Kingdom Heirs.
I've been a Gold City fan for a long time and I've been a Craig West fan ever since he was a young lad. LOL .He's a great singer but more important he's a wonderful person..I've known his family for years and they are wonderful Christian people.. And yes i do agree Chris would be a great choice for a bass singer if Tim decides to retire...I love this song and if anyone could do it justice it is Craig West...Love that Walker County talent..!!!!
I have been a Gold City fan for a VERY long time... and I like the lineup they have now, but they are a long way from Tim, Mark, Jonathan and Jay. I like Brent, but I don't think he's a "Gold City" tenor. I think they should have grabbed Jodi Hosterman (now with the Inspirations) when he left the Kingdom Heirs. He is more crisp, I think, than Brent and would have fit the mold left by Brian, Jay and Steve. Just my opinion.
Talent doesn't even express it! If anybody is wondering how legends do it..you ain't gotta look no further! IMHO-The finest Quartet of all time! Praise the Lord!
@tnwanda1963 You mean Gold City's new sound this week, huh? I know change is inevitable, but I've never seen the turnover in a year that these guys have had. Makes you doubt if this lineup will last either.
@DinanaSN OK, let me tell you about giving benefit of the doubt. I booked Gold City in March 2009 for an August 2009 concert at our church. At that time, the group consisted of Daniel, Bruce, Steve Ladd on tenor, Aaron McCune on bass and Josh Simpson on piano. Prior to making their August date with us, Steve Ladd resigned as did Josh Simpson and finally Aaron McCune. Chris Cooper replaced Steve Ladd as tenor and we wound up with a Gold City trio and about 500 disappointed attendees.
@DinanaSN Cooper barely lasted 6 months, then following the return of Tim Riley, the big announcement was made of the "new" Gold City with Josh Cobb and Roy Webb joining Daniel, Tim and Bruce. Then comes the fiasco of "releasing" Josh Cobb for logistical reasons and naming Brent Mitchell as tenor. Now comes the news of Bruce leaving and being replaced by Craig West. That's what??? 6 people coming and going in the course of maybe a year and a half? You tell me when that's happened before??
@buddermilk65 I'll agree with you that they've been through some rocky times and people have been disappointed. Pray for them that the right combination is together and that they will continue to reach people with the message. It's much harder on them than it is on us fans.
Yep I was a little sceptic about the changes but if they can keep this going it will be great. I think Chris blends better with Brent than Bruce did but Bruce was a powerful singer. Love Gold City.
I am so proud of my cousin Craig!!!!! They all sound great!!!!!!!

@JoeBrinkleyJr I think you're wrong on all of your points (except that Tim's a drawing power), but you are certainly entitled to your opinion!!
