  • Great pickin'!! Could not tell what "T" style guitar you're playing. Is that p90's??

  • Dude you totally rock !

    Thanks for sharing your awesome

    Chicken picken

  • @bluelibra65 Thanks a lot!

  • Loved this video....your tone and playing are amazing!

  • Amazingly clean and plucky playing with a great melodic sense. All phrases should be 8 bar though?

  • @getkristan thanks for listening

  • I loved the use of the slower bends and licks punctuating the faster chicken picking. Really adds some taste to solo and i waaaay better than solos that just go hell for leather the entire time with no timing and spaces.

    Great work - loved it.

  • @schlimmeh hey man thx for the comment i liked it :)

  • @hanzabass Thaks for listening.

  • @LePooperTrooper Thx a bunch :)

  • I'd love hear some country style chicken pickin on a metal track. Idk if it would sound good but it would defintely be interesting :)

  • @InterspeciesErotica7 Thx man! Yeah I get a lot of comments from metal players interested in this style. This technique does get you access from one string to the other instantly!!

  • @InterspeciesErotica7 listen to records by John5 who plays for Rob Zombie...he's a guitar genius, and fuses telecaster chicken pickin with metal

  • I hate all the new mainstream country, and write all country off because of it, but this awesome bro!

  • What kind of amp are you using and effects ?

  • @skp5506 If memory is correct....I was playing live through a Behringer x-vamp through my recorder and monitors. I would have been using some distortion dialed back, compression and delay.

  • @MischiefCON Thx for listening and commenting :)

  • Nice stuff man, usually i only like to play rock on my guitar but country has gotten my attention lately but idk where to start XD

  • @greyfox451 Thx... I'd say start with the classics like Merle Haggard.

  • @greyfox451 Not spamming here, but Doug Seven's instructional stuff really really helped my country chops. Great teaching vids. And his playing is out of this world.

  • Thanks for listening. I'm a blues fan too- big on Freddie King. It's a lot of scales and playing more than one note in the scale at a time (double stops). My advice is to play along with some old Merle Haggard stuff. Use the same scales you know but alter your tone and phrasing. Sultans of Swing is a good hybrid example. I hope this makes sense. Good luck.

  • haha Thanks man!

  • Hey man.... your the shit:D

  • @scotty688 Hi Scotty Thanks for listening!!

  • how do you place your right hand on the guitar...i mean the fingers...i just cant do it...can you tell me?

  • @kimwafupump wrist on body of guitar...base of hand on bridge... thumb and forefinger hold pick on top string ready to downstroke...middle and ring and sometimes pinky rest undeneath the lower strings ready to pull up on them...hope this makes sense and helps

  • dude... that was beyond amazing! do you by any chance have tabs?

i'm really getting into chicken picking and this sounds like a good thing to learn.. any tips?

    cheers mate.

  • @morticiansbassist Hey! Thanks for listening :) Sorry, I don't have any tabs. Tips? Listen to some old Merle Haggard, Ray Flacke. Concentrate on two strings at first. Try downstrokes with the pick and pulling up on the the string below with the tip of your middle finger. Good luck.

  • Great solo! I have nothing but respect for all the Chickin pickin guitar players.

  • @G7flat5 Thanks for listening :)

  • cool man

  • Thanks :)

  • What scale do you use for "chickn' pickn'" solos?

  • I'm guessing a lot of chromatic and pentatonic. I'm not too sure about the names. Thanks for listening.

  • Man, you play nice!

    Wich Tele is this?

  • @tessjazz

Thanks for listening. This is a G&L Tele ASAT

  • To my brother, I am still your biggest fan, always will be. You know what though? I thought you said it was called Cluckin Pluckin! Don't know where I got that idea. Anyway, you make me proud. You are as good as anybody I've ever heard. EVER. Love you.

Damn I wish I had inherited some of your talent!

  • Thanks, sis, love you too. It does say "cluckin' pluckin'" over to the side of this page by the small pic.

  • Oh mother of God.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks!! Steal away. I stole 'em all, too :)

  • My non-guitarists friends refused to believe me when i told them there's a guitar style called 'chicken picking' :D

  • That's funny :)

  • Now THAT was cool! I especially like the open string run at 1:30. Thanks for posting, hope you don't mind if I practice against some of your vid (don't worry; I won't be stealing any of your thunder anytime soon).

  • haha I stole all the licks I'm playing!! Thanks for listening.

  • AWESOME!!! And you have several of my favorite guitar pickers listed as some of your heroes (Albert Lee, Roy Nichols, Danny Gatton, Ray Flacke, James Burton). Are there any of the more current crop that you like their playing style? Other country pickers that I like are Brad Paisley, Vince Gill, Steve Wariner and Eddie Perez (guitarist for Dwight Yoakam), just to name a few.

  • Hey thanks!! Yeah, I like Steve Wariner and Vince Gill alot. I'm not familiar with Perez although I did like Pete Anderson. Thanks again for commenting.

  • very good, friend.

How long have you been playing guitar? and what made made you decide to get into this style? and one last question.. how long did it take you to truly understand and be able to perform this style?

  • Hi back, friend!

I've been playing over 30 years. I'm also into playing blues (big Freddie King fan) and classic rock and southern rock.

I got into this style from listening to guys like Ray Flacke, Albert Lee, Reggie Young.

How long to understand? Hard to answer. The notes and scales are such a mixture of all styles that some of it just fell into place. The right hand is what had to be developed the most

    Thanks for asking..

  • That's great. I'm a huge fan of the blues and sometimes I feel like it's being forgotten in today's choreographed-dance, multi-million dollar music video generation. I subscribed to your channel, so keep doing your thing and putting out good tunes, man. God Bless

  • God bless you too :)

  • i've listened to this clip again and again and again... it's just totally AWESOME ! :D

Can you make more guitar videos? Would've been cool :D

    rock in peace !

  • Thanks man!! Glad you liked it. I've been threatening to make another.

  • Oh Man!You're absolutely fantastic!I very want to play songs like this, can you send me some guitar tabs like this?I would be very happy, please.Thank you!

  • Thanks for the comments! :) Sorry, I don't have it tabbed.

  • wow, cool man! Do you have a particular guitar inspirator? Have you made also a guitar course, would be nice to see all these patterns at slow motion! Congratulations and thx!

  • Hey...thanks for the comments!!

My guitar heroes are my dad and brother. Also...Freddie King, Reggie Young, Ray Flacke, Molly Hatchet, Tommy Crain, Roy Nichols, James Burton, Danny Gatton, Albert Lee.

  • Sounds great. Would you be able to do that on a strat?

  • I could play it on a strat but it wouldn't have that same twang. Who knows, some might like it better on a strat :) Thanks for listening.

  • yeah all very well! but can he play smoke on the water or stairway to heaven, lol.

    just kidding, youare brilliant!

  • haha I can get by on Smoke On The Water but I never learned Stairway to Heaven!!! Thanks :)
