  • Great video! That other 1011 is a BWIA bird...

  • We hear TWA Flight 800 on the announcement we would never hear that today.

  • Vintage. Thanks for posting this video for us.

  • Amazing video thanks for sharing. Hearing those Rolls Royce motors never gets old!! There are a couple good times in this video where you hear the infamous hummm when the engines spool up. Turn the voume up around 4:20. Love it!!!

  • Flying first class was so majestic back then ... Plus recording a landing from first class is legit and considering it was filmed in 87' makes it even more legit .. Nothing special about the year just that people were always scared to use electronics on aircraft ... its kinda cool to see JFK back in the day.. awesome video.

  • Why don't they make planes like this anymore? I REALLY miss these great planes!! The L-1011, DC-10 & 727, Do you think the EPA is probably the reason why planes like this are no longer being manufactured?

  • Heaven! :) Fantastic sight, to see 4 Tristars in one picture :) Love it! I would take the LTU one :D

  • 1. Where were you coming from?

    2. Flight 800 is mentioned in the beginning of the video as a connecting flight. RIP everyone onboard the 7/17/96 flight.

  • @robg5555

    1. Was coming from Seattle. It was a SEA-JFK non-stop flight. We originated in Anchorage, AK, on Alaska Airlines, connected in Seattle on TWA for this L-1011 flight to JFK, returning home from vacation in Alaska.

    2. Yes, Flight 800 was announced. That flight number was used for many many years. Kind of creepy now. RIP

  • The third ('unidentified') tristar looks to be one of British West Indies Airlines. They had all kinds of unique paint jobs. I just wish Lockheed would build another great airliner... you can always hope, right!

  • At least you didn't have far to taxi landing on 13R - well, aviation enthusiasts like me probably would want to capture more of the aircraft sights but dammit, I miss flying! ~_~

  • Thank you a lot to make me remember the Rolls Royce RB211 engines spooling up!

I have been on board the TWA L-1011 on 1992 (La Guardia- St Louis, St Louis-

San Francisco, San Francisco-Los Angeles, Phoenix-JFK). Have you got more

videos about the Tristar? It would be great for me to be able to watch, in particular

I would like to see the on board catering service.

  • I think the other L-1011 is from BWIA.

Great video - used to do this run a lot.

  • Very nice, I'm glad that you added this. Miss this old bird!
