@Carsonj13 I have to disagree with you on that one. Although Super mario galaxy 2 isn't my favorite mario title I thought it was brilliant. There were so many new power ups and the gravity based platforming is really cool. I think you should give it another chance.
Mario Galaxy 2 is the new Castlevania, you know why?
because it's difficulty is not based on getting power-ups to be stronger, enemies taking more hits to kill or the controls just being assholes all the time, youre the same mario through out the game, and when you overcome a really difficult level, you instantly have a tight consistant feel that youre remember forever, you feel satisfied! it's feels GOOD!

Fps games are easy to make look great by their ghrapics its just a lobby, map thats all just design the map nice and the story which is short always and the gun ur holding , done. But at Super mario you need to make the hole galaxy look nice + the ship + all the sht so the game is alot bigger
The problem with gamers these days is that they tend to judge games by what they don't have rather than what they do have. So what if SMG2 doesn't have guns? It has cool powerups. So what if Kirby's Epic Yarn doesn't have blood? It has a great artstyle. That is the kind of thinking that makes you enjoy games more.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is not only the best game of 2010, but also the very best platformer/Mario game of all time and it's also the second best Wii game ever! It's absolutely masterful! It pawns Super Meat Boy, because that game had untapped potential, like not having a multiplayer mode and such. But Galaxy 2 has little to no potential left, and that's because Nintendo took every great idea for the Mario games and perfected each one of them.
SMG2 is definately a GOTY contender. Too many good games last year too say what is the best one of 2010, BUT there is one thing for certain is that like all great masterpieces that stand the test of time, SMG2 will still be played 20+ years from now the same way it's prequels are played today.
Conduit 2 should be Game of the year. I like it cause even though it's an fps, it's unique especially the story, weapons, graphics, characters, (even though Ford annoys me), and the locals. I mean how many games let you go to Atlantis, ATLANTIS FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!!!!

When I play those 2 games, It makes feel smart in a mulitplayer game and i don't get that feeling in Mw2 or such.
The videogame of the year in 2010 in my opinion is both Sonic Colors & Donkey Kong Country Returns. cause in Sonic Colors it goes back to not only what made sonic unleashed good (the day time stages inparticular) but also the nostalgia of the 2d platform that made the original sonic games on genesis great. Donkey Kong Country Returns is good too cause it also brings back the nostalgia of the classic donkey kong country returns from the snes and the challenge it has in later levels.

i recently watched angry Joe getting shafted by the head of the VGA's. it was unbelievable. the VGA guy is a wank who knows fuck all about games and treated Joe, (a legitimate journalist) like shit. he kept snapping his fingers at Joe saying you got 5 mins go go go..... and when Joe finally got to ask a question the VGA guy ignored him cos celebs were walking past. its well worth a watch as its a definite eye opener.

If you liked the first one, you're getting an improved version of the first one with new content...that's a BAD thing? Everybody has different opinions on why Spike didn't put Super mario galaxy 2 in GOTY category. BlackBaron and nintondo316 think its because of the fanboys AG thinks its marketing towards 12-16 year olds and to that age group, Mario is "gay". Nobody agrees on what reasons the VGAs are corrupt!
Game is about story line not killing you grow to love the characters, the music is pleasing too,graphics don't make the game thinking like that would be judging a book by its cover.

i recently watched angry Joe getting shafted by the head of the VGA's. it was unbelievable. the VGA guy is a wank who knows fuck all about games and treated Joe, (a legitimate journalist) like shit. he kept snapping his fingers at Joe saying you got 5 mins go go go..... and when Joe finally got to ask a question the VGA guy ignored him cos celebs were walking past. its well worth a watch as its a definite eye opener.

Also, I really don't get why people are complaining that the game was the "same." If you liked the first one, you're getting an improved version of the first one with new content...that's a BAD thing? Miyamoto had already come out and said that it was made because they had so many ideas that didn't make the first game, so they made an entirely new game with these new ideas. How is it unoriginal?

Granted SMG2 was good but TBH it was EASIER then the prequel, Miyamoto said a harder challenge, maybe it's I'm more experinced? Maybe. but the game for 2011 is Pokemon Black/white so far! last year I do nominate SMG2, though I DID beat it in 2 weeks

Everybody has different opinions on why Spike didn't put Super mario galaxy 2 in GOTY category. BlackBaron and nintondo316 think its because of the fanboys AG thinks its marketing towards 12-16 year olds and to that age group, Mario is "gay". Nobody agrees on what reasons the VGAs are corrupt!
