@ravenshield56 what are you intending on using, water base or oil, or a die or gel...look in woodworking stores for dark cherri stain you might find something close.
@ravenshield56 (PART 2). Also depends on the wood you are using...some darker woods will have a color tone that will darken a cherri stain to a black cherri color...Its all a chemistry class.......use some scrap peices of wood. Hope this helps. Let me know and thanks for the comment.
i once got a guitar that had no angle on the neck or pocket but hand a spall stip of packing caple tape ect in the pocket is it wise to do that in my explorer build?
The finished build looks great! I'm thinking about picking up one of these. I was just curious about the bunk neck angle, specifically-how did you check it to find out it was bad, and hows your action with 3 degree's? I assume you just routed off the neck pocket to get the fingerboard flush? I believe these kits come from the same factory as the "Tenayo's" , as I had a LP copy with the same missing grounding wire channel-that was a fun surprise. Anyways beautiful work!
@80jeff I used a very large ajustable angle finder...you can pick one up at .harbour freight. 3 degrees works just fine. both neck and pocket were at3 degrees so I routed the pocket flat...and yes a little deeper..thanks
I was just curious as to why you taped off all the holes... was that to insure a proper fit of everything? I've built a couple guitar kits my most recent being the saga flying v and from what I've noticed about all of them is that they're a pretty decent guitar but you absolutely have to adjust just about everything. I was going to get an explorer kit but I cant seem to find one anywhere. Where did you pick yours up?
You make neck with two pieces of wood? I mean the head part. And how to connect it

Maybe I don't want the bodies to hit the floor. They deserve a proper burial

I used tape so I wouldn't get finish or stain in places were would cause issues with the fit of pieces, and its easier clean up..Thanks
