  • this is MCI not megacode

  • @Bowline40 We call this megacode and the term is used by us to differentiate these high fidelity exercises from normal MCI exercises ... this is a term we used for it and not related to the US concept of 'Megacode'.

  • I love this video, I teach St John cadets in SA and I always recomend this video to everyon i love it, it really shows how bad things could really be, just think if the bus was moving too how bad that accident would be. i love how you have a cam in the bus too lets you know how everyone moves in it.

keep up the good work every volunteer is so very valuable and loved by everyone..

    a fellow st john volunteer

  • @frootloopbabe82 Thank you for the comments :)

  • I like the video. In next years i will bexome a paramedic too. Right now I am at firefighters (first aid). Do you have any video like that?

Right now I am going to medical hight school. What do you think about that?

Are you a paramedic? Is it hard?

  • I am thinking to volunteer with SJA in ontario. I just did their CPR/AED EMERGENCY FIRST AID C LEVEL course and passed :)

  • Félicitation pour cette imprésionnant exercice, de la part d'un instructeur du Canada, division 907 Gatineau , province de Québec.

  • i hope those people are better!!!! did any one die?

  • It was an exercise so I'd say everyone is safe and well.

  • It an exercise.

  • It was simulated (fake). They organised it for practise so that if it did happen for real they would be more ready. I find the make up really facinating because it looks real.

  • omg man its fake.. this is a paramedic Exit exam... all of this is fake to give realism to the testing scenario.

  • this sonerio is wat it should be like for all divions of st johns ambulance around the world.

  • @zizoufever ----What division are you from? I am 336c

  • I am a first responder in the province of quebec too and I am a ski patroller from St John ambulance and I really love this practice

  • great video. It's nice 2 b recognised 4 our hard work. I would also like to point out that it's not just adults who can be involved in St. John. It's children to. I'm a Cadet Corporal and have been in st. john 6 years and i have to say that it is very rewarding.

  • Well done St Johns & NSW from a fellow Volunteer Ambulance Officer. How does one become involved in Megacode Simulations. (-:

  • Well send me a private message through YouTube and I can send some details.

  • good job!!!! vive les ambulanciers xD

  • GREAT VIDEO. HI im a st john snr. cadet in VIC, thats a great video and the track suits it well!! Well done

  • what happened to ASNSW??

  • ASNSW were involved with the exercise. Several crews were present and can be seen in the video.

  • Totally agree this is a great video it shows St John Ambulance do. Iam also a member of st john ambulance, Deputy County Cadet of The Year. In Cornwall

  • Hey.. I am a Member of St John Ambulance Suffolk, England.

I have been a member for about 9 years, and love being a member and being able to help. St John worldwide does so much good, and helps so many people when they need it most, and the only reason St John can work, is through the undeniable devotion from it's members who give up so much time.

Pro Utilitate Hominom and Pro Fide (apologis if mispelt!)

  • Awesome video, but im pretty angry as i accidently clicked 2 stars for rating :( sorry should have been 5/5! :)

  • No worries SilverWolf! I am glad you enjoyed it.

  • Yeh was very good thanks :) Just did my st johns emergency and basic first aid course yesterday, hoping to volunteer very soon :)

this is what made me join sja - to help other people in need of it

this song really reminds me of sja i dunno y

  • hey i'm in st johns ambulance chester division n have had 2 help with incedents like this

  • Trop foou !!!!!

A bientot!!

  • I am not being negative, but why are St Johns involved in such an exercise. They would not be utilised in such an emergency under the state displan. However it appeared to be a good exercise.

  • Hi Bennywatt.

Thanks for comment. St John have been involved in similar incidents before such as the Waterfall train crash. Under Displan SJA can be utilised in a number of roles particularly if crews are already in close proximity to the incident. In this case SJA came across the scene.

  • Hi, I'm afraid you are mistaken. St John Ambulance, certainly within the UK and I am sure worldwide do indeed get utilised in such an emergency. If a Major Accident (MAJAX) is declared, more often than not, St John will be called in to support the Ambulance Service, as within St John we have people with various medical qualifications from First Aider, to Paramedic, Nurse, Doctors, so are very useful.

  • Hi McWilloughby.

We agree, before undertaking this exercise we consulted widely and believe St John in certain situations would work along side other services at such an incident.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • No Problem :)

  • wow thats so cool we have done onw like it but not that exstent where its on public roads and that big and that better i like that i wish i could do an exersise like that im a st john adult member in Sheffield UK

  • Thanks ant2005uk!

Yes it was a challenge to close a public road for 20 hours. It is possible to do an exercise like this ... just needs to be planned properly. Thanks again!

  • dose anyone know what

the name of the song that is used in the video

  • Yes "The Saints are Coming" By U2 and Greenday.

  • oh my god. its almost not worth commenting on...but...look at the credits! thats what people do- they list what songs they used

  • im a ST JOHNS ANBULANCE CADET IN HUMBERSIDE AT BEVERLEY

  • Thanks abzdabz27

There was no cadets actively participating in the exercise, there were some young adult members present. There were however cadet observers at the exercise. If you want to contact a cadet log onto the St John Am NSW website and send an email.

  • OMG that looked fun and great practise even if it was just cadets on radios. I'm a cadet in the UK and we recently has a talk about St John in Australia. It's amazing how diffrent 1 organisation can be depending on which country you live in. I would love to get in contact with an Austalian Cadet.

  • Also I just posted another YouTube video documentary on the exercise.

  • Hi Nicole!

Thanks for the comment. We organise this exercise in Sydney every two years. You could always come down for the next one :)

    Cheers!

  • merci

  • De rien!

  • I wish the guys from St John in Hong Kong would take a good look at this and stop posting all that boring crap!

  • Hi I'm from ST John Ambulance New Zealand, and this is a fantastic video and it looked like a great exercise. Edited very well using a mixture of video and stills, the stills you used were candid and interesting. You matched the video very well against the soundtrack and the soundtrack used is lively, modern and very appropriate. Overall I agree with a previous poster that this is by far the best St John Ambulance video on youtube.

  • Thanks Jotta. I hope to see some of the interesting things happening in St John NZ on YouTube at some stage!

  • You know it was a great clip until you edited it with that self glorifying song "the saints are coming?" comon, you guys are (usually) better than that. Its this kind of self idolisation that undermines your standing with other health care providers.

  • Thanks BushyFromOZ. Unfortunately our Celine Dion CDs were stolen. Pity. As for self idolisation, we don't idolise ourselves but we won't shy away from our achievements. St John has matured enough to no longer require the endorsement of other services. As for the soundtrack, I don't believe this undermines the work of St John and our standing with other services.

  • We chose a soundtrack that was fast paced, matched the theme and kept people awake. I hope people will see it for what it is and don't try to over intellectualise the clip. Thanks again for your perspective.

  • Nice reply mate, i must admit i was expecting some kind of volunteer wanker reply (i know i know, i am a vollie to, but it still annoys me) but your post is well thought out and free from crap. I was wrong, nice clip guys!

  • No problems. We appreciate your comments believe me. We selected the music only for entertainment value and not to glorify our selves. Shortly we hope to post another clip of the exercise. Would be good to get your feedback on that one. Cheers

  • Hi All,

Thanks for this great video, im a memebr of St John in Tasmania, Thanks alot.

    Cheers

    Damien

  • Hi, I'm a member of St. John in the UK, and can appreach what you guy's and girls do. So i say good on you for taking the time to do a video.

  • well , someone at here is ST JOHN AMBULANCE MEMBER???

Actually i am a ST JOHN AMBULANCE MALYSIA MEMBER , Division KEPONG. Nice to meet u guys , NICE VIDEO !!!!

  • This is now the most popular St John Ambulance video on youtube!

  • Looked fantastically run, well edited and highly suitable soundtrack. Congratulations folks.

  • Thanks Scruffy Ranger! I agree, we are lucky to have such well trained professional and volunteer services. What is even more impressive is they can come together and managed a scenario like this as one.

  • Very good! This film gives a bird's eye insight to the unparalleled professionalism of Emergency Services in Australia and again demonstrates that they are simply the standard by which casualty evacuation excellence is measured.

I'll reserve my comments relating to the NSW Police Force for a more applicable circumstance.

  • Thanks for the comment SG1991. The sound track was released at just the right time!

  • Great video!!! I'm glad. I got to see Megacode. :D The sound track suits the video.

  • Thanks Shaykles!

This is the third Megacode exercise. We run the exercise every two years due to the amount of work involved. The last exercise was a nail bomb which we held in Sydney Olympic Park.

Next one will be 2008. I will definitely let you know when we hold it!

  • Fantastic Video!

I am from St John Ambulance ACT and didnt even know this exercise existed... It would be to organise something along those lines for the ACT.

Please let me know if they are planning another one as i would love to attend either with St John or just observe.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Thank you for your comments. Just for the record, NSW Fire Brigade attended the exercise. Unfortunately the RFS did not attend as this exercise was undertaken in Sydney.

  • Hey this is excellent. Well done.

Its great to see the RFS, ASNSW and the NSW Police and SJAA working along side of each other. Great job.

It brings in enough detail to show the work that we are capable of doing and the skills we have.

I like it. Keep up the good work.

  • This is so far the best St John Ambulance Australia video that I have seen here. I like how it shows a multiagency exercise with SJA working along side fire brigade and police. Good footage and well edited to the soundtrack.
