If you're in an abusive relationship, talk to your family and friends. They will help you through it. I still think about my ex, but it was the best thing for me. I'm sorry to say it is NOT that easy. At first these men probably seem loving and nice but then become manipulative and mean once they know they've got a hold of you. They make you cut ties with your family and friends and have you on a short leash. They beat and threaten you if you try to leave. Restraining orders don't work as well as you think. With no one to turn to and being scared shitless I'd like to see you just up and leave without a care.

Restraining orders are highly effective as long as the woman wants to use them. What usually happens is that the man violates the restraining order and the woman doesn't report it for whatever reason. Here in GA, if a man violates a restraining order with a violent precursor, it's considered aggravated stalking and the man can get up to 20 years. You're right it's not easy, but I'd rather go through the steps to be free than living my life in fear every day.

Not all of them are going to go "oh well I see she has put a restraining order on me better leave her alone!". Not all states work that way and even after they get out its right back to stalking you and harassing you. Of course restraining orders HELP but it's not completely stopping the abuse or the stalking. I agree that women need to go through the steps, but it's not an instant solution.
