ok the reason vampires can't go in sunlight is because they are an unpure creature and the sun and like and all that stuff is holy and pure, just like silver and running water and basically everything else. the vampire myth has grown and recently with books (interview with the vampire, twilight, and others) people have forgotten most of the vampire myth and made them into some sort of romantic supercreature, which they aren't.
